The drop chance of blue gems from prospecting has appeared to be nerfed.
In this issue of my money making tips I bring you two methods, one considered good by many people, Primal farming (which I personally find quite tedious. And the other is for Jewelcrafters only. Prospecting.

We will start with the one everyone can benefit from, Primal Farming. Primals are made up of ten motes of a certain kind of element, and then combining them into one Primal.
Here are some of the best places to find them other then Elemental Plateau:
Fire
-In Shadowmoon Valley, in the middle of the map. it's fairly abandoned. However there is a catch. The lava does a nice amount of damage when you go in it.
Which means?
-Hunters/Warlock can't let their pet go in the lava.
-You will need to avoid finishing the mob off while it's in the lava.
Air
-Also in Shadowmoon Valley, this place is also quite abandoned, but there may be walking around a lot and maybe flying. Track Elementals is very nice here.
Meaning?
Interrupt their Lightning attack if possible. rest is easy.

Water
These are not elementals, they are fish, in Terrokar.
What?
Nagrand Cherries are nice, or if you're an engineer a diving helmet. If neither of those work get an Alchemist to make you some Potions or Transmute yourself into a Warlock (Not possible), or get one in your group. =)
These fish are easy, and go down fast, you can take them down before they reach you.

Mana
There are two spots in Netherstorm to farm these..I won't bother explaining them.
But I want an explanation...=(
Fine, in the southern spot you got these fat arcane voidwalker things that are immune to arcane attacks.
The other spot provides you with floating fish/worm things and netherays.
Ahem...

Wait! What about Earth and Shadow
They suck, period.
Answer me!
If your realm is like most realm, they suck, Earth is so easy to come by it's laughable...Shadow is just not used often. But if you must get earth, mine adamantite, if you don't have mining read on in the Elemental Plateau section.
Shadow, some place in Netherstorm..it really isn't worth the time.
Elemental Plateau! Yay!
Elemental Plateau is only accessible to those who fly or are willing to get a summon.
There are Elementals of all four primary elements ranging from 70+ or so.
And...?
If you're on a PvP server, it's gank or get ganked, I'm sorry but I have never seen:
You leave me alone, and I'll leave you alone.
Up on that plateau. It's crowded and has a graveyard very close. Yay!

Yes I do, in fact, hate the place, but I hate Primals in general. (Which is just my personality)

So how many do I need?
This is assuming that each Primal Fire/Earth/Mana/Water goes for around 20g, as it does on my server.
This also does not include Primal Earth.
You need 5200g
Every Primal is 20g..so 5200/20 equals 260 Primals! Yay!
Let's go a bit farther just for laughs...
How many stacks? 260/20 equals 13 stacks.
Oh! That's a nice small number!
Let me enlighten you.
260 Primals, each containing ten motes...
260*10 equals 2600 Mote of your chosen Element!
On average I'd say you got yourself a good...8000 kills there or more. Oh sure..greens and little grey fragment drops.
Even if your Primal sells for 40g each thats still 130 Primals!
Motes drop about every 3-5 kills on average, sometimes you get 2 instead of one.
Well, I let out a small chuckle, I was suc ha fool, primals really are super easy!

Now! For Jewelcrafters ONLY.
You need 325 Jewelcrafting to do this.
Adamantite ore has the highest chance of giving you a blue gem (rare).
I can buy about 3 stacks of adamantite ore for 60g on my server and then prospect them all.
I will usually get about 3 blues from this. Depending on your server this can work.
I am telling you now, I have gone where no blue gems were wielded from the ore.Yes it sucked, I was out 60g. But it's a gamble, and in the end I got the better of it.

I think I got them all....
You will also get at least one green gem and sometimes two.
Also, one Adamantite Powder, which is a Reagent in Mercurial Adamantite.
After reading a bit of Zlasher's guide I noticed he had the same thing. I didn't steal this idea from him, it's just that good, though his realm is way more profitable then mine for it.
