Thank you for reading and good luck raiding.
You've all seen them: thousands of guides posted on the compendium of knowledge that is the internet, all pointing towards the most popular, and widely considered 'best', leveling builds. You know what i'm talking about; the drain-tanks, the demonologists, the combination's of the two. And yes, they are very good builds. I did, in fact, level affliction all the way from 10 to 60, and found that it was quite possibly the most mana/health efficient experience in the entire game. but...
on the other hand, once the novelty of ending almost any fight totally prepared to jump straight into another wore out, i began to find affliction got rather... dull. I must add that, over the levels, i did frequently respec to try out demonology, and found that was also a bit of a drag.
So, at 60, i did the unspeakable. I respecced destruction.
And I have to say, my initial reaction, upon trying to take down a few mobs, was to throw myself into the twisting nether. It was not, to put it in a nutshell, pleasant. But I persevered- I'd just spent about 80g in total setting destruction up, after all- and found that actually, it was good. More so, in fact. It was fantastic.
Why should i follow this madness?
Why indeed? Well, first and foremost, it is, in my opinion at least, considerably more fun than the common-scrub builds I'd leveled with previously. But i must add, if you simply want to get to 80 as quickly as humanly possible, i'd suggest an affliction build.
If you want to enjoy your 60+ time, however, i'd strongly recommend destruction. The play-style is so different to affli/demo, it really does generate a fresh enthusiasm for playing a warlock. That, and the fact most standard mobs will die inconceivably fast.
So, in a nutshell, pick destruction if you prefer a fun challenge to a quick and easy drag.
ok so... Do we get to see a spec?
you most certainly do. here is my spec at 60.
So, let's take a brief look at this:
bane: Reduced casting time is a most definite win, especially since Immolate and Chaos bolt will be your major casts. Soulfire will see some use, and Shadowbolt will, of course, be very important until incinerate
5/5
Cataclysm: Let's face it, Destruction is NOT perfectly mana efficient, so a 10% mana cost reduction is a no-brainer.
3/3
Molten Skin: You'll be taking on a lot of hits, this will make you a lot less squishy.
3/3
Shadowburn: A nice instant-cast combat finisher, quicker than shadowbolting and will return the soul-shard if you use it to end combat.
1/1
Ruin: A 100% increased critical strike damage. In a nutshell, your crits would be double that of a crit without this talent. Does this really need an explanation?
5/5
Intensity: An absolute must, firstly because you really can't afford to have your casting slowed, and second because it's a prerequisite for Backlash
Destructive Reach: We need an extra talent point to hit the next tier, and a longer casting range means more time for the mobs to reach you. Alternatively, you could put a point into Aftermath if you'd prefer to increase your DoT.
1/2
Backlash: A truly amazing talent. 3% extra crit chance is obvious enough, and a 25% chance to proc an instant-cast shadow bolt. unless the mob has a large amount of health, i generally prefer not to waste time casting a shadow bolt, so this certainly helps boost your damage a bit
3/3
improved immolate: Prerequisite for one of the key talents in this spec, and 30% extra damage-on-hit for Immolate is not to be sneezed at.
3/3
Devestation: 5% increased citical chance is an obvious choice, along with the other talents boosting your crits, this is a truly essential talent.
1/1
Emberstorm: 15% extra damage and reduced cast-time on an important spell, simple enough
5/5
Conflagrate: Instant big-damaging spell. This is one of the key spells in your arsenal, as it's mana cost isn't particularly exorbitant. I'd VERY strongly reccomend getting the glyph- if you have it you can pop this straight away without removing your immolate or shadowflame
1/1
Soul Leech: Absolutely essential if you don't want to stop after every fight. This will proc very often, and will keep you healed not only during the fight, but often helps between pulls
3/3
Improved Soul Leech: Adds an instant mana gain from Soul leech, as well as a nice mana-regen over 15 seconds for you and the group. Net gain of 5% mana for you, which isn't too shabby.
2/2
Pyroclasm: Happens often enough that it's worth picking up, 6% increased damage is great, especially if your next spell happens to be a Chaos Bolt crit...
3/3
Shadow and Flame: increase the spell-power co-efficient on your main spells. I'd suggest putting 3 into this at first, then filling it after you have that most awesome talent, Chaos Bolt.
3/5
Shadowfury: A relatively mana-efficent AOE, certainly good for giving yourself a bit of time to fear those adds, or to finish off a low-health group. Or indeed for fleeing.
1/1
Fire and Brimstone: You'll want immolate up all the time with this talent, and the increase conflagrate crit ties in nicely with Pyroclasm.
5/5
Chaos Bolt: Here we go- the final talent. I'd strongly discourage picking Destruction up before this- This has a third the mana cost of Shadow bolt with over double the damage.
1/1
After this i'd suggest working it out for yourself: certainly some talents like Aftermath and empowered imp could be worth getting, but this build leaves a fair amount of freedom, so it's easily adaptable to your own preferences
All very well, but what of the METHOD?
until such time as i can get some pictures and perhaps a video, you'll have to make do with a description.
This spec optomises primarily on crits and insane damage- NOT sustained fights. Therefore you'll take down most mobs while questing very fast, but may have to drink after longer battles.
Firstly, you'll want Firestone up at all times. Also, make sure you have Demon armor, Healthstone and Soulstone ready, just in case.
As for curse choice- I wouldn't bother with most fights. They're a huge mana dump outside of affliction, and mana is our primary problem. On the occasions when you feel they're necessary, for example in an instance or taking down an elite, i'd strongly suggest Curse of Elements, for the increased spell damage
Ok, now for the rotation. Generally speaking i prefer to do the following rotation on normal mobs my level:
* = only if mobs are low health at this point
** = repeat until immolate has run out or mobs are low health
This will normally kill the mobs by the first shadowburn.
I will add to this soon, feel free to comment with any suggestions
The epic mount for warlocks, is attainable at level 60, as all other classes. However, for us is slightly cheeper, although perhaps more difficult. But the finally is well worth it, not to mention over 70,000 experience!
REQUIRED MATERIAL
As you are doing these quest, you should also be collecting the following materials, as you will need them to finish this quest. I spent approximately 100 gold on these in the auction house.
Elixir of Shadow Power X 2
Large Brilliant Shard X 6
Dark Iron Ore X 25
Black Dragonscales X 3
Arcanite Bar X 1
Crescent Key (or a 300 Locksmith)
406 gold (156 gold if you know anther warlock who has J'eevee's Jar, Black Lodestone, and Xorothian Glyphs.)
Upon reaching level 60 all warlocks should high tail it to the trainer in Orgimar or Ironforge for the usual even level training. While your there, pick up the quest:
This will make you next target Burning Steppes, coordinates 12, 31. Speak to Mor'zul and Gorzeeki, pick up:
Rage of Blood
Lord Banehollow
Once you have collected these two quests, head to Kalmidor. It is recommended you have a soulstone, healthstone, and a few health potions. Also, BE SURE YOU HAVE 150 gold BEFORE DOING THIS! Fly to Bloodvenom Post, and head to Shadow Hold(35,57). Drink your shadow potion at the beginning of Jaednar (no one will attack you except the oozes) and walk to Lord Banehollow at the end of Shadow Hold, which takes about 10 minutes or so. Talk to him and get the follow up:
Go back to the hollow part of the cave where the bridges are and look for Ulathek(41,49) in one of the rooms. Take out your voidwalker, if you have not already. Talk to him and go through the dialogue. About four guards will attack you along with Ulathek. Focus fire on him and make sure voidwalker area taunts(suffering). When he is dead, loot him. You can keep taking out the guards if you like, but I just ran away. You don't need to kill them. I just sacrificed my voidwalker and walked away. Run back to Banehollow and turn in the traitors heart and get the follow up:
Xorothian Stardust
Purchase some dust from the guy behind him and we are off to Winterspring.
I hit up around The Hidden Grove(65,19) for these raging beast blood. Took about an hour.
Before returning to the Steppes and turning in these quest, you should have the above mentioned materials, so you knock out all the quests at once. Also, if you haven't found another warlock to assist you, you will also need 250 gold. this will be a good time to star putting together a group for Scholomance and Dire Maul West.
Once you have everything you need, go back to Burning Steppes, and turn in your quests. If you have all your mats, you willl turn over quite a bit of experience. Pick up and turn in the following:
-Bell of Dethmoora
-Wheel of the Black March
-Doomsday Candle
-Arcanite
Also pick up Imp Delivery, and get your party for Scholomance. Once there head to the southern most room, were Ras Frostwhisper's alchemy lab is, clear the room, and open your Imp in a Jar; watch J'eevee do the work. That done, we are back to Wildeyes for the last quest!
If you still haven't found any warlock assistance, bite the bullet and buy J'eevee's Jar, Black Lodestone, and Xorothian Glyphs from Wildeyes. Quickslot the Lodestone. Also, grab Dreadsteed of Xoroth from Morzul. Now get your party of five and head for Dire Maul in Feralas.
The climax!! This the end, and you are an hour away from your epic mount! Nervous? I know I was.
Clear your way through to Immol'thar, who is imprisoned in the west end of the west wing. On your way, be sure to collect as many soulshards as possible, about twenty, to be safe. Also, to break Immol'thar's prison, you must find the five pylons scattered through out Dire Maul.
One pylon is located in the Capital Gardens;
Two pylons are located in the Court of the Highborne (the upper balcony);
Two pylons are located in the circular area right outside Immol'thar's prison
They are powered by arcane-immune Arcane Remnants and Arcane Aberrations, which must be killed to deactivate them. Be sure to clear the Garden area prior to defeating Tendris Warpwood. My party almost wiped here. Once defeated, you will be attacked by anything left alive behind you.
Once he is dead, head through the door and clear the circle surrounding Immol'thar, rest, buff and head in for the kill.

Now that the area is clear, rest again, and prepare for a long battle against felguards and imps. Activate the jar, and watch J'eevee work again. Once he is finished, the demons begin to roll. Tell you party to focus on the felguards, and AOE the imps when you can. Your main focus as the warlock is the bell, wheel, and candle. As the ritual continues, they will randomly sag. Use the lodestone "repair" them (this uses your soulshards). Any hit taken will interrupt your casting. If all three items go down, the ritual will end and have to be restarted. The ritual takes about 6 to 10 minutes to finish. Once complete, a swirling red vortex will appear. Clear the rest of the demons and take a deep breath, your almost done.

Rest and rebuff and prepare for the finally. When your ready use the Glyphs. This will summon your dreadsteed, which you must fight to about 50%, at which time Lord Helnur'ath will appear. Defeat him and the horse is all yours!!

Hope this guide has helped you all out. Big thanks to wowwiki and wowhead. And if your on my server, I'll help you out.
This is one of my first guides. Please be patient with me, and try not be too harsh when commenting ;D
Please take into account that my highest level warlock is level 60. I do not know everything about Warlocks.
Introduction
Warlocks, like any other class, have their negatives and their positives. But in my opinion, they have more positives than any other class. Here are just a few:
- They are said to be the second fastest levelers in WoW, just unerneath Hunters.
- They get a mount at level 30, that costs just 1g, in comparison to the usual 40g you would have to pa.
- They get a discounted mount at level 60, which costs about 100g cheaper than normal. (Depending on server, price of mats etc)
- They get 5 summonable demons. Each coming with their own aresnal of spells and abilities.
- They can obtain Soul Shards, which can be used to create healthstones (Restores health) Firestones (Can be used on weapons) Soulstones (Can be used to ressurect yourself if you die) plus many more things.
- They can enslave demons, and summon infernals.
- They are a fairly easy, and powerful class to play if you know how to play them.
- They get an array of DoTs (Damage over Time) spells, which are VERY handy in PvP.
- The list could go on for pages :]
Demons
Warlocks have the ablity to summon four demons. Five if specced in the Demonology tree. These four demons are: Imp (Can be obtained at level 1, through a ques), Voidwalker (Can be obtained at level 10, through a quest), Succubus (Obtained at level 20 throgh a chain of quests), Felhunter (Obtained at level 30 through a chain of quests), and, Felguard (Can be obtained at level 50 through a talent in the demonology talent tree.
These demons play roles similar to other classes. For instance: Imps play the role of mages. They do excellent damage, but have crappy health:P
Voidwalkers are similar to Warriors. They have taunt abilities, and can take alot of damage.
Succubus's are similar to Rogues. They can stun, stealth and do fairly high amounts of DPS.
Felhunters are similar to Priests. They can heal, give increased stealth detection etc.
When PvPing, I reccomend summoning your Succubus or Felhunter (Felhunters are good, for example, in WSG if you prefer to defend your flag, rather than attack).
When in an instance, I reccomend summoning your Imp, and if desperatley needed, your voidwalker.
When solo PvEing, I reccomnd summoning your Voidwalker, or Felguard.
Imps ablities - Fireball, Phase Shift, Fire Shield, Blood Pact.
Void Walkers ablities - Torment, Suffering, Consume Shadows, Sacrifice.
Succubus's ablilities - Lash of Pain, Seduction, Soothing Kiss, Stealth.
Felhunter's ablities - Paranoia, Tainted Blood, Spell Lock, Devour Magic.
If you wish to see the effects of the above abilities, I reccomend using Thottbot.
Talents
Warlocks have the following talent trees: Affliction, Demonology and Destruction.
Affliction: In my opinion, if you want the fastest possible leveling spec, this is the tree to spend points in. You do more damage, have less downtime and can take on more mobs.
Demonology: This is the spec for PvPing. I'm not much of a PvPer myself, but.. Yeah :]
Destruction: I'm not too sure about this one tbh.. Ask Google? xDD
How to play a Warlock
Whilst leveling, my usual routine is: Send VW in, Corruption, Curse of Agony, Immolation, Siphon Life, Wand.
This is a rather old, and outdated way of leveling, but it works fine for me. For PvP, I do the same, but there's more beauty added to it: If, for example, you're against a Retribution Paladin (IE, death is innevitible), stick all your DoTs on him, fear him, and do as much damage as you can, he will kill you, but, when you die, the DoTs do not dispell. They stay on him and continue doing damage xD
In PvP, everybody on the opposing team hates a spam fear warlock. Therfore, you must spam fear, also using Death Coil and Howl of Terror.
[b]Summary
Overall, Warlocks are a very useful and powerful class, especially in PvE. They can summon, make healthstones and soul stones, do awesome DPS, and also have a demon by their side to add to that DPS. They put up fair fights in PvP and when specced right, level at an excellent rate.
And that concludes my Warlock guide.
It of course has alot of work to be done, and information may be wrong, but I will alter it as soon as comments are posted :]
Hello people this is my first guide so please comment on what needs to be worked on and improved on. This guide is for destruction warlocks and what to put their talents in and their rotation, and what type of armor they should use. I only put down the talents and not which level to spend them at because i originally made this guide for level 80 destruction warlocks. Please note that these are my suggestion and you may spend the talent points else where and use varieties or rotation. I use this rotation on my level 80 Warlock and get up to 10,200 critical, I hope it helps :D. :)

Improved Curse of Agony 1/2
When dueling use Shadowfury where they stand just before the duel starts to stun him/her. Next use CoE/CoA to curse them to either take damage over time (CoA) or for more damage on you're other spells. Use Death Coil to stun your opponent and cast immolate for more damage over time. Use Chaos bolt for higher damage (shadow bolt if Chaos bolt is on cool down) Cast fear then Corruption so you should have 3 DoTs on your opponent. Cast Drain life to Drain your opponent's health (Use Drain mana if you are low on mana) Use Searing Pain. If your Opponent is still not defeated continue rotation from Immolate.
For PvE use CoA to curse your opponite over time then immolate and corruption for more Damage over time. Use chaos bolt, Shadow Bolt and Searing Pain and use either drain mana or drain life depending on how much mana or health you have. Rotate from Chaos Bolt which should be recharged by now.
I will try to get a list of armor But am busy right now :P but i will get to it.
Note: This guide was inspired by "Hakker's In Depth Warlock Guide v3.1" (inspired by "Suicide's Lock Leveling Guide 1-70" in turn. Credits to them.)
Version 2:
Cleaned up alot of things. updated equipment section and builds section. also BBcode'd the whole guide, for easier reading. also updated guide to 2.3.3 standard.
Version 1:
Hakker's, with extremely minor changes to the builds to update to WoW-2.4.2 standard. slight changes to the Equipment section as well.
Intro
I saw the Hakker's build and used it to level my first character to lvl 70 in 14 days. not an amazing accomplishment, but for a first time player, also not a BAD job either. (Jame's lvl guide also helped a lot.)
but in some places it was just plain impossible to follow this well created guide. it was out of date.
so i updated it.
enjoy.

Note about Drain Tanking
Few realize that Drain-Tanking is nearly useless before level 30, due to the weakness of the lower versions of the Drain Life spell. So for the first 19 levels just use the method of placing your DOTS on the
target and shadow bolting to death.
Character Creation to level 29
1-9: Do your lowbie quests. Should take 2-3 hours.
10-14: 5/5 Improved Corruption
15: 1/5 Demonic Embrace
16-18: 3/3 Improved Imp
19: 2/5 Demonic Embrace
20-22: Improved VW
23-25: 5/5 Demonic Embrace
26: 1/1 Fel Domination
27-29: 3/3 Fel Stamina
Using the method during this stage:
Stack all your DoTs on a mob, send in the VW, stack all your DoTs on a second mob, and then wand the second mob to death. Repeat until low health, and then bandage/Consume Shadows. Each level should take about an hour, moving toward an hour and a half as you get closer to 30. If they are taking longer, figure out what the problem is (mobs too far apart, mobs have too much life, too much downtime) and move to an area that solves it.
Level 30 to Level 49
At level 30, visit your class Trainer and Unlearn all your skills.
Spec to this build.
And, on we go!
31: 1/1 Siphon life
32-34: 3/5 Suppression
35-39: 5/5 Shadow Mastery
40: 1/1 Dark Pact
41-45: 5/5 Demonic Embrace
46-48: 3/3 Fel Intellect
49: 2/2 Improved Curse of Agony
Using the method during this stage
Load the mob up on DoTs, send in the Succubus, cast Drain Life while the mob beats on you, rinse and repeat.
Once you acquire the Dark Pact skill, use it instead of life tap except in emergencies. generally try not to Dark pact your succubus under 2/3 of its mana.
Level 50 to Level 60
At level 50, go unlearn everything again.
Spec to this build.
And, once again, Onward!
51: 1/1 Siphon Life
52: 2/2 Drain Soul
53-55: 3/3 Empowered Corruption
56-60: 5/5 Shadow Mastery
You are now spec'd SM/DS, which is generally accepted to be best grinding spec pre-burning crusade
Using the method during this stage
The Drain Tanking gets even better now. By Demonic Sacrificing your Voidwalker, you are able to regen even more life per fight, keeping up with increasing monster damage, while still Life Tapping up to full mana whenever you want because of the passive regen.
Level 60 to Level 70
Unlearn again.
Spec to this build.
And here we go again! except, now we go to outland ^.^
61: 5/5 suppression
62-64: 3/3 Fel Intellect
65-66: 2/2 Improved Health stone
67: 1/1 Fel Domination
68-70: 3/3 Demonic Aegis
congrats on hitting the level cap!
How to use the method at this stage:
Stack your dots on the target, and use the traditional drain tanking method. Just about every mob you face should be able to be down able with taking little to no damage. I recommend using the succubus, Felhunter or Imp during this stage.
How to level:
Grind and quest at the same time. Either look for multiple quests that involve killing the same mobs, or look for multiple quests in the same areas. The more quests you can get done before running back to turn in, the faster your leveling will go. Perfect guides on where to find these areas can be found here:
also, the mod "Questhelper" can be excellent, by showing you where you need to go for each quest. it gets confused a bit in the outlands, but it is still an excellent addon.
Equipment Choice:
I found that during early levels it was best to find / purchase "Of the eagle" equipment, or if none was available, +Sta gear. At around 35 or so +shadow/+dmg gear takes precedence, as it will make your DoTs tick much harder. at this point, and all the way to level 69, the priority will be (in this order): +shadow/+dmg (either), +Stam, +int, anything else. Basically, don't bother with any gear that doesn't buff Stam, int or your +spell damage.
at level 70, your priorities change a bit more. if your plan is to raid you have to start getting your +spell hit capped and start getting +spell Crit. For PvP, you will want to grind rep from the level 70 instances, as there is a set of blue pvp gear that you can buy from the quartermasters. the blue rep gear isnt that great, but it dooes get you on the road for PvP.
At lvl 30, start looking for Shadoweave gear, and around 40 switch into it. Full Shadoweave can be made by tailors, and will give a bonus of +114 shadow damage, along with some Int and Sta, and can be equipped at level 44.
At lvl 60 start looking for Netherweave gear, and around 56 switch into it. Full Netherweave can be made by tailors, and will give +188 Spell damage, +204 Stamina. i recommend going with the robe. you can wear it a full level earlier, and its only
2 spell dmg / 4 armor less. (and it looks better, if this matters to you)
For weaponry, the previous versions of this guide recommended going with a sword and offhand item. i believe that it should be up to you, but you need to choose extremely early. don't switch from sword/offhand to staff at level 56 for example unless its an incredible difference in stats.

Builds:
Raid Builds:
The best build to start raiding (Kara, Heroics, Mag/gruul) is the UA/DR Affliction Build
or, This Variant, if your +spell hit is allready 100-ish
the reason for this is that Destruction builds only do insane damage once your +spell hit is ~200 (hit cap is 205-ish)
Once you get your 205 +hit and aproximently 19-20% Crit chance, Switch to the Grandaddy of all warlock raiding builds.... DS/S&F 0/21/40 Destruction build
this build is dead simple. summon succubus (for raids), Felhunter (for grinding / farming). use Demonic Sacrifice on it. put up Fel armor. your attack chain is: Curse of Shadows, Shadow bolt, Shadow bolt, Shadow bolt, Shadow bolt, Shadow bolt, Shadow bolt, Shadow bolt... you get the idea. Life tap every 4-6 shadowbolts.
NOTE: there IS a Fire variant of the 0/21/40 build. it does slightly more DPS, HOWEVER, is inferior. it skips the Improved Shadowbolt skill, whitch buffs All shadow users +damage. fire has no equivilant.
PvP
there is really only one pvp spec worth talking about. locks who dont run this build are going to flame the hell out of me for saying this, but they are just in denial
this build is not designed to do huge damage. this build makes your lock into a sherman tank. the idea is to outlast your opponent.
drop instant cast dots on mobs, and a curse (CoEx on melee, CoT on casters / healers, and CoA on anything that needs extra damage)
Fear anything that moves
Also, the official WoW forum has an entire section devoted to Warlocks... look there for builds too.
Conclusion:
once again, thank you Suicide for making this guide. Thank you Hakker for Updating it.
and, thank me for updating it again ^^
people can call warlocks Op (except rouges, they call us lunch)
they can rant and rave about it......
or they can make one, and have the fun were having ;P
Thanks for reading, good luck hitting that cap!

This guide follows the format of both Irwezsh's Guide and Trollvink's Guide, as requested by Jame himself.
For Patch 3.0+, focused on WARLOCK gameplay!
Table of content:
This is a guide which will tell which talents are the best to choose while leveling, also what rotation you should do, what gear boosts you should be focusing on and some general tips.
The best leveling spec for the warlock is Affliction. This is because of it's the most mana efficient tree there is, and focuses on your DoTs. Demonology becomes the best 50+, and I've shown that in this guide.

Always take the weapon with the best stats
1 - 9:
- Keep Demon Skin up.
- Get your Imp no later than level 4.
- Until you get Immolate and Corruption, spam Shadow Bolt.
Rotation: Immolate, Send in Imp while casting Corruption, Shadow Bolt or Wand to death. At level 8, Start rotation with Curse of Agony.
10 - 19:
- Keep Demon Skin Up.
- Use your Voidwalker.
- Use Drain Soul when you need Soul Shards.
- Wait 3 seconds after your Voidwalker begins attacking a mob to start the rotation.
-Life Tap when needed.
- Drain Life when needed.
Rotation: Send in Voidwalker. Curse of Agony, Corruption, Immolate, Life Tap(optional)Drain Life(if needed), Drain Soul.
20 - 29:
- Replace Demon Skin with Demon Armor.
- Use Any pet you feel good with.
- Life Tap and Drain Life when needed.
Rotation: Immolate and Send in Pet, Corruption, Curse of Agony, Drain Soul.
30 - 39
- Get your free mount!
- Continue using Any pet you like.
- Drain Life, Life Tap when needed.
- If you feel Imp has more DPS, go ahead and use him.
Rotation: Same as above.
40 - 49
- Use either Voidwalker or Felhunter, your own preference.
- Everything else, same as above.
- Use Shadow Bolt if Nightfall procs.
- For Voidwalkers, have them attack right away.
- For Felhunters, send them in after Immolate.
Rotation: Immolate, Corruption, Siphon Life, Curse of Agony, Shadow Bolt(if Nightfall procs), Drain Soul, Dark Pact.
50 - 80
- At 62, switch to Fel Armor.
- From 50+, I'm not sure about a DEFINITE rotation, but you basically want to put all your dots on the mobs you are facing.
- I use a Felguard through these last 30 levels.
My rotation these last few levels(definitely not the best): Immolate, Curse of Agony, Corruption, Drain Life, Drain Soul.
You should probably by now understand what DoTs are and that they are your main damage dealing abilities. So any rotation you feel good with is fine.
NOTE - This build is for leveling, not raids/dungeons, consider respeccing!
Anyhow, if you choose to go with it, the Affliction DPS rotation for 80 instances is: Haunt, Curse of Agony, Corruption, Unstable Affliction, Siphon Life, Shadow Bolt.
I have not seen a good Demonology rotation yet, but keep your ears open.
Instances
- Make sure you start with around 10 Soul Shards.
- Give a Soul Stone to one of the healers.
- I could rant on with a ton of stuff, but I'm just going to say, read this.
Solo
- Carry 5 - 7 Soul Shards with you at all times. Delete excess stones.
- Don't waste a bag slot on a Soul Bag. You won't ever have enough SS's to worry about it.
- Just heal yourself with Drain Life when you need to heal.
- Bandages help as well.
- Like mentioned in the rotations, keep up Demon Skin/ Demon Armor/ Fel Armor
- Life Tap when low on mana.
Professions
- The best options are Skinning/Mining, they make lots of money, especially with the Death Knights wanting to go Blacksmithing.
In the following order: Spell Hit(Until capped) > Spell Power > Spell Haste > Spell Crit > Stamina > Intellect.
There are various opinions on the topic, but most Warlocks I know go generally by this.
Here I will eventually put some gear down you can get while leveling. But for now I don't have the time.
Major Glyphs(Thanks kirby for these.)
Glyph of Siphon Life
Glyph of Immolate
Glyph of Corruption
With Glyph of Corruption, when Shadow Trance procs, cast a Shadow Bolt
DoTimer - A handy mod for managing your DoTs and rotation.(thanks to kirby for this aswell)
Necrosis - shard management(since with improved Drain Soul you'll want to get 14% FREE MANA from EVERY MOB YOU FIGHT, who can really pass that up, and who wants to delete all those stupid shards?) it also offers warnings about unfearable mobs, and audible warnings about your soulstone expiring, and nightfall procs, it also makes it a lot easier to keep a healthstone on hand, and as a affliction lock, you'll also likely want to keep a spellstone up now that Wrath made them halfway decent. Also, Necrosis has a DoTimer like feature for tracking how long your dots have left. In my eyes it totally mitigates any need for DoTimer as a lock. - Nicely put, deveyus!
Thanks to Everyone who added things while this was a wiki page, and thanks to Jame for WoW-Pro, of course!
