Boston's 1-12 Dun Morogh Leveling Guide (Dwarf/Gnome)

Dun Morogh 1-12

I tried my best to make a guide for the Dwarf and Gnome starting area (other races can come here too of course) for level 1-12. This guide is focused on questing rather than grinding, though some parts you may be asked to grind. Before we begin, it is a very good idea to download a couple of mods I frequently refer to in this guide:
  1. Titan Panel: Great mod that allows you to keep track of your inventory, money, and experience easily. It also shows (X,Y) coordinates that are frequently used in this guide.

  2. Cartographer: Awesome map mod that has a lot of cool features, particularly, a fully explored world map that is very helpful for everyone, especially beginners.

  3. Quest Level: Simple mod that shows the level of a quest in your quest log.

I'm going to take this part from Jame's guide because he does a good job of explaining it:
In case you don't know how to install add-ons, make a folder called Interface in your World of Warcraft directory (if it doesn't exist already). Then you open it and create a folder called Addons inside the Interface folder (if it doesn't exist already). Now every Addon you want to install goes directly into the Addon folder. For example you download and unzip Titan Panel, you drag the folder called TITAN PANEL (not Interface or Addons) into the new Addon folder you created. You restart World of Warcraft completely and it should be working.
If it isn't you might need to log out to your login screen and click on "Addons" in the left lower corner. Tick the box that says "Load out of date Addons". Relaunch WoW.

A few notes.

  1. At level 10 (or 12 for Paladin) you get a class quest. This is usually very important, if not necessary, and I recommend you do it. However, any race besides a Dwarf and Gnome must go back to their starting area in order to receive their class quests as they will not be available to them in Dun Morogh.
  2. It is VERY helpful to get bags as soon as possible. Try to get a few of the 6 slots from the vendors or get some from the Auction House. Tailors can also make bags. Just try to get some pretty soon because they are extremely valuable.
  3. Always spend your talent points in what will give you the most dps (Warriors should go Fury/Arms, Priests should go Shadow, Paladins should go retribution/dps holy, etc.).
  4. Whenever you log out, try to log out in an inn because this gives you rested experience and makes it twice as easy to level!
  5. To save you the trouble, take any quest you see because we will be doing all of them, including the follow-ups (don't take the ones in Loch Modan when you get to that part, just get the ones I tell you to).
  6. I don't recommend following this guide if you are not a Dwarf or Gnome (especially if you are a Druid or Shaman because there is no class trainer for those in Dun Morogh) because it's best to get honored with your home first. There are also a couple of quests only available to a Dwarf or Gnome in this guide.

Here's a little color code for you:

    1. Purple: Names of NPC's
    2. Red: Names of Mobs
    3. Teal: Areas (towns, cities, etc.)
    4. Blue: Quests
    5. Orange: Items
    6. Green: Coordinates
    7. Black: Starting of a new session/important Notes/levels

All these things will be colored so they're easy to spot and also bold.

Before we begin, go kill a couple of wolves and loot the items they drop. Head back to the little camp you started in and sell the stuff. This should get you 10 copper. Go to your class trainer in Anvilmar which is a little west. Buy your level 1 skill and let's begin.

    Level 1

I'm not going to put a map for this part because it's so easy a caveman could do it Eye. Just grind on wolves and troggs around until you hit level 2.

    Level 2

    1. Go back to the camp that you started at and sell your stuff you got from your kills. Get the quest [1] Dwarven Outfitters from Sten Stoutarm.

    2. Go kill Ragged Young Wolves until you get 8 Tough Wolf Meat.

    3. Head back to Sten Stoutarm and turn in your quest. Get the follow ups [1] Consecrated Rune (quest name varies between classes) and [3] Coldridge Valley Mail Delivery. Also get [2] A New Threat from Balir Frosthammer and sell your junk. Note that [1] Consecrated Rune (or however it’s named, depending on your class) IS considered a class quest and only available to Dwarves and Gnomes. However, it’s not important and can be skipped.

    4. Head south and kill any troggs you find here. Stay here until you get 6 Rockjaw Troggs, 6 Burly Rockjaw Troggs, and hit Level 3. Return to Balir Frosthammer and turn in your quest.

    Level 3

    1. While you're here sell your stuff. Now follow the road west and a little north until you come to Anvilmar (28,69). Turn in your quest to you class trainer, then get the quest [3] A Refugee's Quandry from Felix Whindlebolt, a little gnome by the forge. Note: Get the quest [4] Beginnings from your trainer if you are a Warlock. This quest is a class quest so you must return to your starting area to complete it if you are a Warlock because this quest is very important.

    2. Leave and follow the road west. Keep going until you find Tallin Keeneye at (22,71). Turn in your quest and get the follow up [4] Coldridge Mail Delivery and also [3] The Boar Hunter. From now on kill any boar you see until you get 12 kills.

    3. Head south following the road until you come to another camp with a couple of dwarves there (24,75). Turn in your quest to Grelin Whitebeard and get the follow up [4] The Troll Cave. Don’t get the other quest from Nori Pridedrift just yet.

    4. Head west until you come to a troll camp (21,76). From now on kill any Frostmane Troll Whelps until you have 14 kills. Clear this camp and loot Felix's Box by the drums.

    5. Head south until you find another troll camp at (22,79). Clear it and loot Felix's Chest right next to the fire.

    6. Head southeast a bit until you reach yet another troll camp (26,79). Get Felix's Bucket of Bolts then go between the 3 camps until you get 14 troll kills. If you haven't gotten 12 boar kills yet, do that as well (a little north of the first troll camp). Now grind on boars, troggs, and trolls until you're Level 4 (if you haven't leveled yet) and at least 7 bars into Level 4.

    Level 4

    1. Head back to Tallin Keeneye at (22,71) and turn in your quest.

    2. Follow the road southeast to the other camp and turn in your quest [4] The Troll Cave and get the follow up [5] The Stolen Journal. Get the quest [5] Scalding Mornbrew Delivery from Nori Pridedrift.

    3. Head back to Anvilmar, sell your junk, visit your class trainer, and turn in your quest to Felix Whindlebolt. Also turn in [5] Scalding Mornbrew Delivery to Durnan Farcutter and get the follow up [5] Bring Back the Mug.

    4. Return to Nori Pridedrift at the southwestern dwarf camp and turn in the quest. This should make you level.

    Level 5

    1. Head slightly southeast until you come to the troll cave (26,79). Enter this and clear your way until you come to a fork with 3 tunnels. Take the northern passage (or the one on your left) and clear your way until you come to another fork. Keep heading straight and you'll come to a large room with a frozen pond in the middle. At the eastern corner of this room you'll see Grik'nir The Cold. Kill him and loot Grelin Whitebeard's Journal. Now grind on trolls until you are 16.5 bars into Level 5 and 3.5 bars away from Level 6.

    2. Head back to Grelin Whitebeard at the dwarf camp and turn in your quest. This should make you level.

    Level 6

    1. Head to Anvilmar and sell your junk and visit your class trainer (turn in [4] Beginnings if you are a Warlock). Note: Get the quest [4] In Favor of the Light from your trainer if you are a priest.

2.Get out and follow the road east until you come to [b]Coldridge Pass at (33,71). Turn in your quest to Mountaineer Thalos and get the follow up [5] Senir's Observations. Also get the quest [5] Supplies to Tannok from Hands Springspocket.

    3. A little to your left you'll see a cave. Inside there are troggs that hit like wussies. You can choose to clear these all, or run straight through them to the other side. You won't die if you run through so you should to save time, these guys won't give you much experience anyway. Now that your on the other side follow the road north and east.

    4. Keep following this road until you come to the town of Kharanos (46,53). As soon as you enter, you should see Senir Whitebeard standing next to some caravans. Turn in your quest to him and continue north to the inn (big building on the right). Get the quest, [7] Beer Basted Boar Ribs from Ragnar Thunderbrew outside the inn. Go inside the inn and turn in your quest to Tannok Frosthammer. Also talk to Innkeeper Belm and set your Hearthstone here (turn in [4] In Favor of the Light if you are a Priest and get the follow up). Now leave the inn and head across the road to Tharek Blackstone and get his quest [5] Tools for Steelgrill. Note: If you are a Priest, head south a bit to (45,54) where you'll find Mountaineer Dorf. Cast heal then fortitude on him then return to Maxan Anvol for your reward.

    5. Head northeast a bit until you get to Steelgrill's Depot at (49,48). Get the quests [6] Stocking Jetsteam from Pilot Bellowfiz, [7] The Grizzled Den from Pilot Stonegear, and [6] Ammo for Rumbleshot from Loslor Rudge. Also turn in your quest to Beldin Steelgrill.

    6. (From now on kill any Crag Boars and Black Bear you come across). Head southwest, past Kharanos, until you get to The Grizzled Den. Continue until you find a small wrecked camp (44,56). Right click the ammo crate by the tent and loot Rumbleshot's Ammo.

    7. Head slightly southwest until you find a camp with a few dwarves at it (40,65). Turn in your quest to Hegnar Rumbleshot.

    8. Head north until you come to a yeti cave (42,54). Kill these guys until you get 8 Wendigo Manes and hit Level 7. These guys aren't that hard, but more than one can overwhelm you so pull carefully.

    Level 7

    1. Now if you haven't finished [6] Stocking Jetsteam and [7] Beer Basted Boar Ribs, go kill more boars and bears until you do. Return to Kharanos and talk to the innkeeper and buy a Rhapsody Malt. Turn in [7] Beer Basted Boar Ribs outside the inn.

    2. Head northeast to Steelgrill's Depot. Turn in your quests [6] Stocking Jetsteam and [7] The Grizzled Den. Get the follow up [7] Evershine.

    3. How close you are to Level 8 varies, so go kill the Wendigos or animals until you level.

    Level 8

    1. Head east to the southern end of Kharanos and get the quest [9] Frostmane Hold from Senir Whitebeard. Visit your class trainer, sell, and repair.

    2. Head north along the road a bit until you see a small dirt path on the west side of it. Follow that to a small building (46,48) and get the quest [10] Operation Recombobulation from Razzle Sprysprocket.

    3. Keep following the road north until you come to a bridge crossing a frozen river (46,43). Follow the river west until you come to the frozen lake, then head southwest to Brewnall Village (30,45). Turn in your quest [7] Evershine and get the follow up [8] A Favor for Evershine and also [9] The Perfect Stout from Rejold Barleybrew. Also get [6] Bitter Rivals from Marleth Barleybrew. (From now on kill an Ice Claw Bear, Snow Leopard, and Elder Crag Boar you find).

    4. Head Southwest a bit until you come to a troll cave (25,50). Enter the cave and start clearing until you get the "Explore Frostmane Hold Complete" message and have 5 Frostmane Headhunters kills.

    5. Head northeast a bit until you see a path leading up to the mountain (37,42). Follow this up to the fork then follow it southeast to the camp. Clear the camp and loot any Shimmerweed Baskets on the ground for Shimmerweed. If you didn't get 6 don't worry there's more north. If you did, just skip to the next paragraph. Head back to the fork and this time go north and cross the bridge. Follow the road on the other side that goes east to another camp and a small cave. Kill here until you get 6 Shimmerweeds.

    6. Head west until you get to Gnomeregan. Start to kill Leper Gnomes until you finish [10] Operation Recombobulation and hit Level 9. If you haven't finished [8] A Favor for Evershine kill more bears, boars, and cats until you do then hearthstone back to Kharanos.

    Level 9

    1. Talk to the innkeeper and buy a Thunder Ale. Head to the basement of the inn where you'll find Jarven Thunderbrew with a blue question mark over his head. Turn in the quest [6] Distracting Jarven then right click the Unguarded Thunderbrew Ale behind him and turn in the quest. Get the follow up [7] Return to Marleth. Leave the inn and go to the southern end of the town and turn in your quest to Senir Whitebeard and get the follow up [10] The Reports.

    2. Head northwest a bit to the gnome house we were at earlier. Turn in your quest.

    3. Head north along the road, cross the bridge, then follow the road east and all the way to Ironforge. Go to the throneroom and turn in your quest. (If you are a race other than a Dwarf or Gnome, get the flight path to Ironforge that is a little east of the throne room in the greatforge).

    4. Leave Ironforge and go to Brewnall Village and turn in the quests [7] Return to Marleth, [8] A Favor for Evershine, and [9] The Perfect Stout. This should bring you up to about 13.5 bars.

    5. Head north to Gnomeregan and grind on the Leper Gnomes until you hit Level 10.

    Level 10

Now you should do your level 10 quest. From now on, you'll probably have more experience than it says in the guide because I used a paladin to write this guide. Just follow it as if you hadn't gotten the boost in experience from your level 10 quest, and if it says to grind to a certain amount and you already have enough you don't need to.

    1. Head back to Steelgrill's Depot and turn in the quest [8] Return to Bellowfiz. If you followed this guide and you're a Dwarf this will make you honored with Ironforge.

    2. Go back to Kharanos to visit class trainer, sell, and repair.

    3. Head north along the road, then southeast where it forks before the bridge. Keep following this road until you come to a fork where a dirt path leads north (62,54). Follow the path north to Amberstill Ranch and get the quest [11] Protecting the Herd from Rudra Amberstill.

    4. Head west around the mountain until you come to a dirt path leading up into the mountains (59,50). Head up this and you should see Vagash. Kill him and loot his fang then return to Rudra Amberstill for your reward.

    5. Get back on the road and continue east. Soon you will come to a road leading south into Gol'Bolar Quarry. Take it. Get the quests [11] The Public Servant from Senator Mehr Stonehallow and [9] Those Blasted Troggs! from Foreman Stonebrow. Head south into the actual quarry and start killing Rockjaw Skullthumpers until you finish [9] Those Blasted Troggs!. Now make your way to the eastern part of the quarry where you'll find a cave. Go inside and clear the troggs until you get 10 Rockjaw Bonesnapper kills. Now comes the not so fun part. This should bring you up to about half way. Now you need to grind to Level 11 and 6.5 bars into Level 11. You can stay here in the quarry, or go back to Gnomeregan. It's up to you as long as you level.

    Level 11

    1. Head back up to the dwarves above the quarry and turn in both of your quests (by the way this should make you honored with Gnomeregan if you're a Dwarf and followed this guide). Now leave and get back on the road.

    2. Follow the road east until you come to a fork. Take the Northeastern road and you'll soon come to North Gate Outpost. Get the quest [10] The Lost Pilot from Pilot Hammerfoot. Head northwest a bit until you come to a dirt path on the west side of the road. You should see A Dwarven Corpse on the ground (79,36). Right click it, turn in the quest, and get the follow up [11] A Pilot's Revenge. A white bear will spawn a little up the hill named Mangeclaw. Kill it and loot the claw. Return to Pilot Hammerfoot for your reward.

    3. Leave the way you came and go back to Dun Morogh. Head back to the fork and this time take the southeastern route until you come to South Gate Outpost (86,48). You should see Mountaineer Barleybrew. Turn in your quest and get the follow up [10] Stout to Kadrell. Continue east along the road until you come to a tunnel. Follow that through.

    4. This will bring you to Loch Modan. Follow the road until you get to a 3 way fork. Head down the southwest road and go to the outpost on the side of the road. Get the quest [12] In Defense of the King's Lands from Mountaineer Cobbleflint. Head inside the outpost and get the quest [12] The Trogg Threat from Captain Rugelfuss. Go back outside and to the fork. This time take the northern road. Keep following this main road and you’ll be in the town of Thelsamar soon. Once you get to Thelsamar find Mountaineer Kadrell. Turn in the quest [10] Stout to Kadrell. Go inside the inn and set your Hearthstone here. Head to the most eastern house of the town and get the quest [10] Honor Students from Brock Stoneseeker. Go to the western side of the town and get the flight path from Thorgrum Borrelson. Turn in your quest to him and get the follow up [10] Ride to Ironforge. Fly to Ironforge.

    5. Head to the northern side of the circular area you are in. You should see a marker on your minimap. Turn in your quest to Golnir Bouldertoe and get the follow up [10] Gryth Thurden. Go back to the Gryphon Master and turn in the quest. Get the follow up [10] Return to Brock

    6. Leave Ironforge and head south to the frozen river. Now head south west in between the two mountains until you come to 2 caves on either side of you. Head up the hill to the western one and get the quest [12] Tundra MacGrann's Stolen Stash. Now head east to the other cave where you'll see a level 11 elite yeti inside. Wait for it to leave and go somewhere else then go in the cave and right click the chest on the ground and get the meats. Return to Tundra MacGrann and turn in your quest. This should make you level.

    Level 12

Head back to Kharanos and visit class trainer, sell, and repair.

    End of 1-12.

Spizzy's leveling guide 1-12 (Dun Morogh Starting area)

This guide incorporates a lot of grinding and also a lot of questing, i tried to write it like Jame's guide but I'm a lazy ass so it wont be nearly as good, this may not be the fastest way to level but its rather good and it allows you to let someone else do the thinking for you so you don't have to worry about what quests to do next.
Basic Rules
1. While traveling you should try and kill everything on the way, i usually cant be assed because i usually catch up later at the grind sessions but it can help a lot some times so i recommend it.
2. Spec into dps or grinding talents after level 10, so you can do more damage Smiling
3. Only take quests i tell you to, unless you really want to get the reward but rewards aren't so needed at low levels
4. If you are having a break for longer then an hour or two make sure you log out in an inn because you get rested exp which is basically double exp while grinding which is completely awesome.
Some addons you might want
While leveling i only use 2 addons, that is meta map and titan panel, these two addons are completely awesome, and i don't need any others. i recommend you use them too
Link for Metamap click here (if you don't like this link go on Google and type in metamap download and look around)
Link for Titanpanel click here(same for this link, if you don't like it have a look around on Google)

Level 1
First of all you will start off in Coldridge valley, only if you are a dwarf or gnome though of course.
To start with just go out onto the flat of snow behind where you start off and start killing wolfs until you are Level 2
Level 2
Now go back to the little market by where you start and sell all the junk in your bags (mainly grey items, and just stuff you don't need)
Now go back onto the flat and start killing wolves and also kill some troggs until you reach level 3, this may seem boring but it is entirely worth it.
Level 3
Once again go and sell all your junk and head back into the wilderness, Yep another grinding session, boring once more, but good exp.this time instead of grinding wolves, as they are becoming a bit low for you, just grind on the troggs around a trashed camp, its on the map in between the two roads at (26,72). Grind here till level 4.
Level 4
Right, go into anvilmar, just north of where you were grinding, its like some barracks looking thing with a forge in the middle, sell your stuff and visit your class trainer. Now, its time for some questing! go back to the market which you start off at and get the quest "Dwarven Outfitters" and go kill wolves until you have all 8 tough wolf meat. after that hand in the quest, get the two follow ups. "Coldridge valley mail delivery" and the class quest, the name depends on what class you are. Talk to the man standing next to this guy, and get the quest. " A new Threat" go out and kill more troggs till this is done and you are halfway through level 4. Hand in.
Go back into anvilmar sell and repair, hand in your class quest and get the quest from Felix Whindlebolt "A refugee's Quandry"
Head out of Anvilmar and go west till you get to a small tent, with Talin Keeneye standing just inside it. hand in "Coldridge valley mail delivery" and get the follow up. Also get his quest "The boar hunter" and go kill boars till you have completed it, i dinged on exactly the twelfth boar i killed. if you haven't dinged by now just grind these boars till you are level 5.
Level 5
Hand in "The boar hunter" and and follow the path south to another little campsite. Hand in "Coldridge valley mail delivery" now, get the quest, "The troll cave" but don't get the quest "Scalding mornbrew delivery" yet, its a timed quest in which we will do later. Run directly west until you come to a camp filled with trolls, kill about 5 of them to make your way to Felix's box. Loot it and run south and a bit east till you come to another camp with more trolls. Kill about 5 again and loot Felix's chest. There is usually a battered chest in one of these camps, if there is loot it and take what ever you want, to use or sell.
Now run east to yet another camp, don't worry this is the last one, kill the trolls and loot Felix's bucket of bolts. Now for some more grinding, either go into the cave and kill trolls, or kill them in the camps, either way find a way to get level 6 without doing any quests.
Level 6
Hand in " The troll cave" Quest and get the follow up. Now get the quest " Scalding Mornbrew delivery" and run to anvilmar. Hand in the quest and get the follow up. While your here get your new spells and sell your junk. Also hand in the quest "A refugee's quandry"
Now head back to the camp just north of the troll cave and hand in "Return the mug"
Go into the troll cave make your way to the deepest part and look for grek'nir the cold. He is easily solo able so just kill him and loot Grelin Whitebeard's Journal.
Hand this quest in, get the follow up, then grind till level 7, which for me was only about 7 bars.
Level 7
Go back to anvilmar and sell your stuff, buy some food and drink if you must, depending on your class and if you really need it or not.
Exit anvilmar and run east up the mountain hand in the quest " Senir's Observation" and get the follow up. Talk to hands springsprocket and get his quest too, "Supplies to Tannok".
Head into the cave and run all the way through, don't bother killing the troggs in the cave, they don't do much damage and are not very good exp. on the other side, just follow the path to kharanos.
When you get there hand in the quest at senir whitebeard and get the quest "The frostmane hold" off of him as well.Get the quest "Beer Basted Boar ribs" from the man outside the inn. Then go into the inn, make it your home and hand in the quest "Supplies to Tannok" at the innkeeper's assistant, Tannok.
Leave the inn and talk to Tharek Blackstone and get his quest " Tools For Steelgrill" go northeast of Kharanos to Steelgrill's Depot, Hand in the quest and get all the others, These are:
"Stocking jetstream"
"Grizzled Den"
"Ammo for rumbleshot"
Go east from here and look for a small house inside a hill, get the quest from the gnome called Razzle Sprysprocket, the quest is called. "Operation Recombobulation"
Now we are going to complete "Stocking Jetstream" "Beer basted boar ribs" and "Ammo for Rumbleshot" all in one go, head back into kharanos and run south west, jump down the mountain and start killing bears and boars on your way to the little camp you should be able to see just in front of you. Once there loot Rumbleshots ammo, and start killing boars and bears till level 8 and you have finished "Stocking Jetstream" and have enough ribs for "Beer basted boar ribs"
Level 8
Head over to the camp where Hegnar Rumbleshot is at, (40,65) hand in the quest then run back to kharanos.
Get your spells and buy a rhapsody malt from the innkeeper, hand in"Beer Basted Boar Ribs" then run to Steelgrill's depot and hand in the quest and get the follow up "Evershine". Now go to the grizzled den, its just west of kahranos, just down the hill. Kill wendigos till you have 8 wendigo manes and are about 6 bars off level 9. (This is a good grind spot, if you want you cant grind here to level 9, but i'm not going to for the fairness of the other lazy people who follow this guide Smiling )
Now head over to Brewnall Village, its in the western end of Dun Morogh next to the frozen lake.
On the way there you should kill ALL monsters getting you to around 1 or 2 bars away from level 9, or if not you can catch up later. Once at Brewnall village hand in "Evershine" and get the follow up. While your here, sell and repair and also get the quests "The Perfect Stout" and " Bitter rivals."
Go out into the wilderness and kill enough boars, bears and leopards to finish off "A favor for Evershine" You should now be a few bars into level 9.
Level 9
keep killing these monsters until you are about 5 bars into level 9, shouldn't take too long. i only had to grind about a bar.
Once done, head north towards the area outside Gnomeregan, don't go inside the real instance because there are level 20+ mobs inside. Kill the leper gnomes till you have 8 of each type of cog, after that grind these till 8 bars from level 10. Go south to the Frostmane hold, kill your way into and make your way through until you get the quest complete message, also make sure you have killed enough Headhunters for the quest. Once done grind till level 10
Level 10
hearthstone to Kharanos,Get your spells and hand in all the quests, get the follow up "the reports" from Senir. go to steelgrill's depot, hand in the quests there, hand in "Operation Recombobulation" too. go into the inn and buy some thunder ale from the innkeeper, go downstais and complete the quest on the man. He will leave the barrel unguarded and during that time you can swap the barrels round.
Run west then go up the hill to find a camp full of trolls, clear the camp ( this can be a bit tricky but if you are careful its possible.) loot all of the shimmerweed you can find, there is usually more then enough, if you still need more there is another camp just north of there on the other hill. once done run back to brewnall village. hand in "A favor for Evershine" get the follow up. Hand in "The perfect stout" and get the follow up. Turn in "Return to marleth" too. Head back to steelgrill's depot and hand in "return to bellowfiz" Once done head far east,
to a little camp just north of a quarry at (66,56). Get the 2 quests, and head south and kill all of the troggs, grind here till level 11.
Level 11
Hand in the quests.Head over to Ironforge and hand in the quest "the reports" you should do your level 10 class quest as well and then grind till level 12 at the quarry, or wherever you like. (If you are a paladin your class quest is at level 12, you miss some extra xp this level but gain some next.

Well thats the end of the guide, i hope you enjoyed it and it served you well.

Boston's 12-20 Alliance Leveling Guide

12-20 Alliance Leveling Guide

I tried my best to make a guide for levels 12-20. This guide is focused on questing rather than grinding, though some parts you may be asked to grind. Before we begin, it is a very good idea to download a couple of mods I frequently refer to in this guide:

Titan Panel: Great mod that allows you to keep track of your inventory, money, and experience easily. It also shows (X,Y) coordinates that are frequently used in this guide.

Mozz's World Map: Cool mod that shows unexplored areas of the map.

Quest Level: Mod that shows the level of a quest.

Let me say this now, you NEED bags and fast. Don't gimp, if you find a cheap 10 slot at the Auction House buy it. It will pay off in the long run. Always spend your talent points in what will give you the most dps (Warriors should go Fury/Arms, Priests should go Shadow, Paladins should go retribution/dps holy, etc.). If you followed my previous guide, the grab every quest no longer applies. Do only the quests I tell you to. Also kill anything along the way (yellow preferable, but 3-4 levels under are fine too). This is a great substitute to grinding because it's less boring than just staying in one spot and killing. Don't waste time on finding a group to help you with a quest. Most everything in this guide is soloable and those that aren't are easy to replace in terms of experience. Also in the town of Stormwind it is slanted to the northwest but I talk about it as if it weren't slanted. So whenever you're in Stormwind and looking at the map, tilt your head to the left. That should do the trick.

Here's a little color code for you:

Purple: Names of NPC's
Red: Names of Mobs
Teal: Areas (towns, cities, etc.)
Blue: Quests
Orange: Items
Green: Coordinates
Black: Starting of a new session/important Notes/levels

All these things will be colored so they're easy to spot and also bold.

Level 12

If you followed my previous guide you should have the quest [10] Return to Brock (complete) and have your Hearthstone set to Stoutlager Inn, Thelsamar. If you didn't follow my last guide don't worry about the quest. Get to Ironforge then Dun Morogh. Head to the eastern end and through the southern tunnel all the way to Loch Modan. Take the road north until you come to the town of Thelsamar. Set your Hearthstone here and get the flight path. Now that we're all on the same page let's begin.

1. Hearthstone to Thelsamar (unless you're here already). Get the quest [11] Thelsamar Blood Sausages from Vidra Hearthstove inside the inn. Get the quests [11] Rat Catching and [15] Mountaineer Stormpike's Task from Mountaineer Kadrell. Turn in the quest [10] Return to Brock to Brock Stoneseeker inside the most eastern house. Stock up on food, water, and repair.

2. From now on kill any Elder Black Bear, Forest Lurker, and Mountain Boar you see until you finish [11] Thelsamar Blood Sausages. Head directly west toward the edge of the mountain and you should see a kobold camp (26,42). Kill all the Tunnel Rat Kobolds/Foragers/Vermins/Scouts in the camp for Tunnel Rat Ears. If you didn't get 12 ears, don't worry.

3. Head north to another camp (24,31) and grind between the two until you do get 12 ears.

4. Now head slightly northeast to Algaz Station. Turn in your quest to Mountaineer Stormpike. Get the follow up [14] Stormpike's Order. Grind on kobolds or animals (preferably the animals for the quest) until you hit Level 13.

Level 13

1. (If you haven't finished [11] Thelsamar Blood Sausages yet, kill more spiders, bears, and boars until you do). Head south along the road, past Thelsamar, to the Valley of Kings. Get the quest [12] In Defense of the King's Lands from Mountaineer Cobbleflint. Go inside the bunker directly ahead and get the quest [14] The Trogg Threat from Captain Rugelfuss on the top floor.

2. Head north back on the road until you come to a small fork with a dirt path leading southeast into the mountain. Take that path and you'll come to a large area of troggs (33,73). Kill the Stonesplinter Troggs/Scouts in the area until you finish [12] In Defense of the King's Lands, [14] The Trogg Threat, and ding Level 14.

Level 14

1. Go back to the Valley of Kings and turn in the quests [12] In Defense of the King's Lands and [14] The Trogg Threat.

2. Head back to Thelsamar and turn in the quests [11] Rat Catching and [11] Thelsamar Blood Sausages. Talk to the flight master and fly to Ironforge.

Sell, repair, visit class trainer, etc. When you're ready, head to the southeastern area of Ironforge to the Deeprun Tram. Before you get on the tram, talk to Monty and get the quest [12] Deeprun Rat Roundup. Equip the Rat Catcher's Flute to your action bar and use it on any Deeprun Rat until you have 5 following you (you can also cast this thing while running). Return to Monty and turn in your quest. Get the follow up [12] Me Brother, Nipsy. Get on the tram and ride it to the other side. Get on the middle divider and turn in your quest to Nipsy. Precede through the portal to Stormwind.

Welcome to Stormwind! Home of the sewer monster! Seriously there is a sewer monster here. Anyway you should see a Teal dot on you mini map. Head around the building and turn in your quest to Furen Longbeard. Head to the eastern end of the Trade District and up the ramp at the end. Get the flight path and jump out the opening. Go to the exit of Stormwind and into Elwynn Forest. We're going to make the journey to Westfall.

Follow the road southeast until you get to Goldshire. While you're here, get the quest [10] Report to Gyran Stoutmantle from Marshal Dughan. Now get on the road and follow it west. Soon you'll come to a bridge. Cross it and you'll be in Westfall.

1. Directly ahead you'll see Farmer Furlbrow and Verna Furlbrow. Get their quests [10] Westfall Stew, [12] The Forgotten Heirloom, and [14] Poor Old Blanchy. From now on if you see any Sacks of Oats on the ground around fields, loot them.

2. Head south along the road until you see another field to your right, Saldean's Farm, (56,30). Get the quest [15] The Killing Fields from Farmer Saldean. Go inside the house and turn in your quest to Salma Saldean. Get the follow up [13] Westfall Stew and [12] Goretusk Live Pie. From now on kill any Harvest Watcher, any type of Goretusk, and any type of Fleshripper.

3. Head north to the Furlbrow's Pumpkin Farm (51,22). Head to the house at the northern end and clear your way inside. Loot the watch from inside the wardrobe. Continue to kill Harvest Watchers and loot the Sacks of Oats until you get 8 Handfulls of Oats.

4. Head back to Farmer Furlbrow and Verna Furlbrow (59,19) and turn in both of your quests.

5. Go between Saldean's Farm (56,30) and Furlbrow's Pumpkin Farm (51,22) until you get 20 Harvest Watcher kills and hit Level 15 (keep 3 Okra, 5 Flasks of Oil, and 5 Hops if they drop which they should).

Level 15

1. Head south a ways until you come to Sentinel Hill (55,51). First of all, get the flight plan. Now get [15] Red Leather Bandanas from Scout Galiaan in front of the warehouse thing the people are working on. Now go to the inn and set your Hearthstone here. Head north to the tower and turn in the quest [10] Report to Gyran Stoutmantle to Gyran Stoutmantle. Get his quests [12] The People's Militia and [18] The Defias Brotherhood. Also get the quest [14] Patrolling Westfall from Captain Danuvin right next to him (add any type of Gnoll to your kill on sight list).

2. Head northwest until you get to Jangolode Mine (44,25). Kill Defias Trappers/Smugglers until you finish [12] The People's Militia and [15] Red Leather Bandanas.

3. Head west to the coast (34,21) where you'll find murlocs. Kill these until you get 3 Murloc Eyes.

4. Head east up the cliff where you'll find various Gnoll camps (36,29). Kill these until you get 8 Gnoll Paws and hit Level 16.

Level 16

1. If you haven't finished [13] Westfall Stew or [12] Goretusk Live Pie, kill more boars and vultures until you do (or Harvest Watchers if you haven't gotten 3 Okra, 5 Flasks of Oil, and 5 Hops but you should have). Head back to Saldean's Farm and turn in your 3 quests.

2. Head back to Sentinel's Hill and turn in your 3 quests there. Get the follow up [14] The People's Militia. Fly to Stormwind.

Sell, repair, visit class trainer, visit Auction House, whatever. Head to Cathedral Square and go inside the building at the northeastern end of it. Get the quest [15] Humble Beginnings from Baros Alexston.

When you're ready, leave Stormwind and follow the road southeast to Goldshire. Now this time take the road east and follow this all the way to Redridge Mountains.

1. As soon as you enter the area, you'll see Guard Parker. Get his quest [16] Enroaching Gnolls. Continue following the road east then north to Lakeshire.

2. Before you cross the bridge, turn in your quest to Deputy Feldon, get the follow up, and get the flight path. We're going to do a small leveling session here before going back to Westfall. Cross the bridge and get the quest [16] The Lost Tools from Foreman Oslow. Head left into the actual town itself. Get the quests [15] Elmore's Task and [18] The Price of Shoes from Verner Osgood standing outside of the stable. Next to the stable you'll find the town hall. Get the quest [14] Messenger to Stormwind from Magistrate Solomon. Head inside the inn and get the quests [15] A Free Lunch from Darcy and [15] Dry Times from Barkeep Daniels. Go upstairs and turn in your quest to Wiley the Black and get the follow up [18] The Defias Brotherhood. Head west up the hill and inside the first house you see. Get the quest [18] Redridge Goulash from Chef Breanna (from now on kill any Great Goretusk, Tarantula, and Dire Condor you come across). Now go on the first dock west of the bridge. Get the quest [15] Hilary's Necklace from Shawn.

3. Take a dive in the river. Swim east under the bridge until you find a Glinting Mud under water (33,55). If it is there, loot the necklace. If it's not there, swim west to another spot that it spawns (24,54). Loot Hilary's Necklace from it then swim to the southern shore.

4. Head southwest of Lakeshire on the other side of the river. You will soon come to various gnoll camps (18,64). Clear the camps, it's ok if you didn't get all your mongrel kills.

5. South of here you'll find Guard Parker. Turn in your quest to him. Get the follow up [15] Visit the Herbalist

6. Head east along the road until you see a dirt path leading south and east. Follow this until you come to more gnoll camps (29,83). Stay here until you complete [17] Assessing the Threat NOTE: Stay clear of the big camps, it will only end in tears.

7. Now grind on Tarantulas around this area until you get 5 Crisp Spider Meat. At this point I leveled. If you didn't you're not killing enough along the way so grind until you do.

Level 17

1. Head north to Lake Everstill slightly east of Lakeshire. On the western end you need to open the Sunken Chest at the bottom (41,54). Loot Oslow's Toolbox.

2. Now we need to kill condors. These are a little harder to find. They are generally found south of Lake Everstill (46,76). They don't drop a meat very often but hopefully it won't take too long. Just kill other mobs while looking for them.

3. By now you should have 5 Great Goretusk Snouts. If not go grind on boars in the southern region of Redridge Mountains. They can generally be found anywhere here. When you're ready, return to Lakeshire. Before crossing the bridge, turn in [17] Assessing the Threat to Deputy Feldon. Cross the bridge and turn in your quest to Foreman Oslow. Head to the dock next to the bridge and turn in [15] Hilary's Necklace to Hilary. Go to the western end of the town and turn in [18] Redridge Goulash to Chef Breanna inside the big house. Now go to the side of the little house right out side and turn in your quest to Martie Jainrose. Get the follow up [15] Delivering the Daffodils. Head back to the inn and turn in your quest to Darcy. This should bring you up to a little less than half way to Level 18.

Now we're going on a beer hunt! That's right a beer hunt! Follow the road south and west until you come to the fork where Guard Parker is. Take the southern road and follow it all the way to Duskwood.

While you should continue to kill mobs along the way, do not fight anything that is too hard for you. This place may be a little high. Anyway continue to follow the road until you get to Darkshire. Buy a Bottle of Moonshine from Barkeep Hann. Head up the hill to the eastern edge of town and get the flight path. Now head back up the road and cut across the top of Duskwood, through the river to Elwynn Forest.

Get on the road and follow it west to Goldshire. When you get there, turn in your quest to Smith Argus. Get the follow up [18] Return to Verner. Head inside the inn and buy a Skin of Sweet Rum from Barkeep Dobbins. Follow the road northwest now to Stormwind.

As soon as you cross the bridge, talk to General Marcus Jonathan and turn in the quest [14] Messenger to Stormwind. Get the follow up. Go to the outskirts of the Trade District (not to another district, but to the buildings outside the actual district along the canals) and to the most southwest building. Buy a Cask of Merlot from Roberto Pupellyverbos inside. Go to the Dwarven District and go inside the inn. Get the quests [20+] Oh Brother... and [18+] Collecting Memories from WIlder Thistlenettle. Go to the northeastern side of the district and get the quest [20+] Underground Assault from Shoni the Shilent. You should see a Teal dot on your mini map. Go inside the building where it's at and turn in your quest to Grimand Elmore. Get the follow up [15] Stormpike's Delivery. Sell, repair, visit auction house, whatever (make sure you have your 5 Flasks of Oil and 5 Hops with you). When you're ready fly to Westfall.

1. Head to the northern tower and turn in your quest to Gyran Stoutmantle. Get the follow up. Cut through the land and head directly west. Soon you'll come to Alexston Farmstead (38,55). You'll see a lot of harvest watchers but they are not our goal. Head to the southwestern edge of the field where the houses are. You need to kill Defias Pillagers and Defias Looters so start clearing. Make your way to the wrecked house a little south of the mill. Loot A Simple Compass from the chest next to the fireplace. Continue to clear the defias until you finish [14] The People's Militia.

2. Head back to Gyran Stoutmantle and turn in your quest. Get the follow up [17] The People's Militia.

3. Make your way southwest, then west of Moonbrook to Dermont's Place (38,70). Make your way southwest, clearing defias along the way (at this point I leveled. If you didn't then you're not killing enough monsters along the way. Continue on because you'll be killing more though.).

Level 18

1. At about (37,38) you can go east into the mountains. Follow this opening through and soon you'll come across Grimbooze Thunderbrew standing next to a tent (44,80). Get his quest [15] Thunderbrew Lager. Turn it in immediately. Now continue to grind on Defias Highwaymen, Defias Pathstalkers, and Defias Knuckledusters until you complete [17] The People's Militia.

2. We're going to be doing one more small session here before going back to Stormwind. Head back west out of the mountains and continue on to the shore. If you head slightly south, you'll come to the Westfall Lighthouse (29,86). There you'll find Captain Tealson. Get his 3 quests [16] Keeper of the Flame, [19] The Coast Isn't Clear, and [20] The Coastal Menace. Turn in [16] Keeper of the Flame immediately.

3. Swim to the shore and grind on murlocs there (35,86). Continue grinding until you come across Old Murk-Eye who patrols through the camps. When you find him, kill him and loot his scale. Then continue to kill murlocs until you have 7 Murloc Tidehunters and 7 Murloc Oracles.

4. Now you need to travel all the way to the north coast where we killed murlocs earlier to get eyes (34,21). Kill here until you get 7 Murloc Warrior kills.

5. Now head even further north until about (45,8 ). Here you will find Murloc Coastrunners. Kill here until you get 7 kills.

6. Head back to Captain Tealson and turn in your 2 quests, then hearth back to Sentinel Hill.

7. Head to the north tower and turn in your quest to Gyran Stoutmantle. Now fly to Stormwind.

Sell, repair, visit class trainer, etc. Now Head to Old Town and SI:7 at the southern end of it. Enter the building directly ahead of you when you go up the stairs. Once inside the main building, go up the stairs and take a left where you'll find Master Marthias Shaw. Turn in your quest to him. Get the follow up [18] The Defias Brotherhood. Go to the Cathedral Square, then to the northeastern house and turn in your quest to Baros Alexston. Make sure you have your Skin of Sweet Rum, Cask of Merlot, Bottle of Moonshine, and Keg of Thunderbrew Lager then fly to Redridge Mountains.

Cross the bridge and turn in your quest to Verner Osgood in front of the stable, do not get the follow ups. Go inside the town hall next to you and turn in the quest [14] Messenger to Stormwind to Magistrate Solomon. Get the follow up [14] Messenger to Westfall. Now go inside the inn and turn in [15] Dry Times to Barkeep Daniels. Now you should be about 3 bars away from Level 19, if not you need to kill more along the way. Fly back to Westfall.

1. Go to the northern guard tower and turn in both of your quests to Gyran Stoutmantle. Get both follow ups [14] Messenger to Westfall and [18] The Defias Brotherhood.

2. Now start to make your way to Moonbrook, southwest of Sentinel's Hill (45,69). On your way down there, ask in general chat if anyone has seen the Defias Messenger. If you're lucky, someone will tell you if they've seen him or killed him recently. If no one responds or if he's been killed, continue to Moonbrook. He spawns at the eastern end of the town and patrols all around Westfall so looking for him would take long. Once you see him, kill him and loot A Mysterious Message.

3. Return to Gyran Stoutmantle and turn in your quest. (At this point I leveled. If you didn't, don't worry. Just do this next quest and if you still don't level, go grind on gnolls in the south). If you turn around you'll see The Defias Traitor with a quest (if he's not there, then someone is already escorting him so wait a minute for him to come back). Get his quest [18G2] The Defias Brotherhood. You need to escort this guy all the way to Moonbrook, but unlike most escort quests this guy runs. Now he's now Scandinavian athlete, but it's a lot better than walking. Once you get the complete message, return to Gyran Stoutmantle.

4. Turn in your quest to Gyran Stoutmantle and this should make you level if you haven't already. Get the follow up [22+] The Defias Brotherhood which is the main quest for the instance The Deadmines. Now head inside the tower and make your way to the very top. Get the quest [17+] Red Silk Bandanas from Scout Riell.

Level 19

Now you have a choice to find a group for The Deadmines, which you most definetly should, or grind your way to Level 20. If you followed my guide you should have all the quests for The Deadmines so that will be a great xp boost if you complete all of them (two of which are actually out front of the instance in an undead area, [18+] Collecting Memories and [20+] Oh, Brother..., so share those and try to convince your group to finish them as well). The Deadmines is also a great source of experience and loot and it's a lot funner than just grinding. But if you still choose to grind, go to the southern shore (30,80) and grind on the Shore Crawlers there. These guys are easy and are neutral, so you don't have to worry about more than one pull (watch for Old Murk-Eye for he patrols here and also watch your AoE attacks). Either way, this should make you level. Grats on Level 20.

End of 12-20. Stay tuned for 20-30.

Caelestis's Alliance Leveling Guide 12-20

Caelestis’s Alliance Leveling Guide

Level 12-20

Introduction

This guide will focus on optimised questing. There will of course be some grinding but that is usually because this guide will let you visit a city every 2 level. Sometimes I also recommend that you grind in the end of the level (especially between every 2 level) this is because you’ll need new talents every now and then, so when you are at a boring grind session just remember that there is most likely a very xp given session around the corner

I’ve chosen to follow the same layout as Jame simply because it works (and overall, it helps people reading the guides if they all resembles each other).

Mods
Mods are pretty essential if you want to find places and track your xp/hour. I would recommend the following mod:

TitanBar – It got both logs and an xp/hour tracker

Dwarfs and Gnomes) Do the main quests in Dun Morogh, when done grind your way to level 12 (which is best done by killing Troggs). If you don’t like grinding then go to Ironforge, take the Tram (remember to do the rat quest, and take the follow up) and head for Stormwind. Upon arrival you should head for Goldshire where there should be plenty of quests.

Humans) Basiclly the same strategy as with Dwarfs and Gnomes, only this time you start in Elwynn Forrest (so you’ll just have to inverse the route). When you’re done with the quests in Elwynn you can choose to grind your way to 12 by killing the Gnolls in the southwest part of Elwynn or you can go to Stormwind, take the tram to Ironforge and then complete most of the quests in Dun Morogh.

Night Elfs
) Night elfs is a bit more complicated as if they want to visit the other races starting zones it will have a lot of travelling involved. Night Elfs should be doing the quests in Teldrassil, when done, grind Bloodfeather harpies in northwest Teldrassil. You could travel to Dun Morogh as you will eventualy end up there no matter what (if you follow this guide, that is). Go to Darnassus, go through the portal in the middle of the city, take the boat or fly to Darkshore, take the other boat to Menethil Harbor and run from Menethil to Loch Modan (remember to take the Flight Paths) and then to Dun Morogh where you have plenty of quests at your disposal.

For a full guide about leveling in the Night Elf starting zone, I recommend Taralom's Night Elf 1-12 Guide http://www.wow-pro.com/node/960

Draeneis
) Draeneis should have a fairly easy time getting to level 12 as they got two zones to quest in. Do the quests on Azuremyst isle, which should guide you to Bloodmyst isle. It’s a good idea to do these quests as the rewards, compared to those of all the original alliance races, are superior in every sense. Another possibility is to go to Eastern Kingdom, where you’ll be going later, if you are to follow this guide that is. To do so just follow the explanation I’ve given in the Night Elfs part as the only difference is that the Draenei boat to Darkshore is located just south-west of the Exodar, and not in Teldrassil.

Level 12

You should be standing in Ironforge, if not, get there by using one of the descriptions above. In Ironforge go to Tinker’s Town and get the following quest

[15] Find Bingles

Make Ironforge your home(get its flight path if you're Human or Night Elf) and then go from Ironforge to Loch Modan. Either fly (if you have the FP) or run. If you decide to run, you should run out of Ironforge and run east until you meet a gate (South Gate Outpost). Run through the tunnel connecting Dun Morogh with Loch Modan and then go north until you reach Thelsamar. Take the flight path.

In Thelsamar, get the following quests:

  1. [11] Thelsamar Blood Sausages
  2. [11] Rat Catching
  3. [15] Mountaineer Stormpike’s Task]

Then go south to Valley of Kings and get:

  1. [12] In Defense of the King’s Lands
  2. [12] The Trogg Threat

Then go north to log (26,58) killing every Spider, Bear or Boar you encounter on your way. When you arrive, slaughter the Troggs until you’ve completed [12] In Defense of the King’s Lands

Move further to the north to log (28,45) and kill Tunnel Rats until you’ve completed [11] Rat Catching.

Now go north to the north tower at log (28,18) and turn in [15] Mountaineer Stormpike’s Task get the follow up [14] Stormpike’s Order and [15] Filthy Paws. If you haven’t completed [11] Thelsamar Blood Sausages then go hunt for the creeps you need.

When done, run back to Thelsamar and turn in the quests. Then head to the Valley of Kings and turn in the rest of the quests and get the follow up (be aware that the follow up is not given by the same NPC as before. Look inside the tower and you should find it). If you completed [12] The Trogg Threat turn that in as well, if you didn’t complete it, you sure will in the next step.

That should make you ding 13 (or really close). If you didn’t ding start off the next passage by grinding the low level Troggs

    Level 13

Now head north until you see a gap in the hills at log (28,65) Go through them and you should find yourself in a pretty Trogg crawled area. From here, go southeast to some hills that should crawl with Seers and Skullthumpers. When you’ve killed 10 of each and completed [12] The Trogg Threat, return to Valley of Kings and turn the quests in. Get the follow up [17] In Defense of the King’s Lands (located inside the tower) and run to Thelsamar. Repair and go north to Silver Stream Mine at log (35,18).

Go inside the mine and look for boxes stacked together labelled miner’s gear. This might be a hard part, but it is doable. Use bandages between every fight (unless you can heal) to minimize your downtime as the tunnel rats have a rather high spawn rate. When you’ve completed [15] Filthy Paws go back to mountaineer Stormpike and turn it in

You should be getting close to dinging 14, so go grind on either tunnel rats or Troggs… I’ll let you decide Smiling. When you are level 14 fly to Ironforge. Repair and learn new skills.

    Level 14

When done go to Stormwind either by tram, or by taking a flight.

In Stormwind, head for the dwarven district and turn in [14] Stormpike’s Order
Go to the Cathedral and at the town hall (49,30), get the quest [15] Humble Beginnings from Baros Alexton. Make Stormwind your home.
Go out of Stormwind and turn southeast until you reach Westfall

    Westfall:

    1) On the border of Westfall, just across the river, get the quests

    1. [10] The Westfall Stew
    2. [10] Report to Gryan Stoutmantle
    3. [12] The Forgotten Heirloom
    4. [14] Poor Old Blanchy

Follow the road south and as it forks just keep running forward towards the house.

    2) At the house turn in [10] The Westfall Stew, get the follow up and get the following quests as well:

    1. [12] Goretusk Liver Pie
    2. [15] The Killing Fields

    3) Head towards the road and run south until you reach Sentinel Hill. Get the flight path and the following quests:

    1. [15] Red Leather Bandanas from Scout Galiaan at the inn
    2. [14] Patrolling Westfall from from Captain Danuvai at the tower
    3. [12] The Peoples Militia from Gryan Stoutmantle

And turn in [10] Report to Gryan Stoutmantle

    4) Go a bit west to log (44,46) and kill Goretusks and Fleshrippers until you got 3 Goretusk snouts, 3 Stringly Vulture Meat and 8 Goretusk livers

    5) Go north to The Molsen Farm at log (46,38).
Kill 15 Defias Trappers and 15 Defias Smugglers
Remember: if you find any Sack of Oats loot them

    6) If you haven’t found 8 Sack of Oats then go to Saldean’s Farm at the windmills and look for some Oats there.

    7) When done, go north to Furlbrow’s Pumpkin farm at log (50,21) killing every Harvest Watcher that passes your way. At the pumpkin farm kill every Defias in the area infront of the little house. Be careful not to aggro the mobs inside the house. This quest might be a bit hard as you have to kill a level 12 and a level 15 in order to loot Furlbrow’s pocket watch . It's doable, but if you're having problems ask if anybody wanna help you complete it. You can start killing the Harvest Watchers while looking.

Cool Kill Harvest Watchers until you’ve completed the quest, got 5 Flasks of Oil and Hops, and 3 Okra

    9) Then go north until you encounter a gnoll camp at log (52,15). Clear the camp and go east to find some more Gnolls. Kill these until you:

    Find 8 Gnoll Paws
    Ding level 15

    Level 15

    10) Go north to Longshore at log (42,10). This place is crawling with murlocs, so kill them until you’ve collected 3 Murloc eyes

    11) When done, go back to the Farmer couple at the border of westfall and turn in all the quests.

    12) Then run to Saldean’s farm and turn in the quests.

    13) Finally, run to Sentinel Hill and turn in the last few quests. Get the follow up for [12] The Peoples Militia and the quest [18] The Defias Brotherhood. Phew, that was a long run….

Sell and repair, and then head west to Alexton Farmestead at log (37,54). West of the barn there should be a burned down house. Inside this house there is a box, so clear the area around the building and loot the box for a Simple Compass

Then go southwest to the Westfall Lighthouse at log (30,86)
Get the quest [16] Keeper of the Flame from Captain Grayson and turn it in immediately (since you should have the 5 Flask of Oil. Then go east to the city of Moonbrook at log (43,69). This place should be crawling with Defias Pillagers and Defias Looters. So grind this place until the following requirements has been achieved:

    Kill 15 Defias Pillagers
    Kill 15 Defias Looters
Get 15 Red Leather Bandanas (if you haven’t done the quest already)

    Ding level 16

Note: if Moonbrook is crowded just go to Alextons Farmstead. The amount of Defias mobs available is a bit lower than in Moonbrook, but not if Moonbrook is crowded that is Eye

Then go back to Sentinel Hill and turn in [14] The Peoples Militia and get the follow up

    Level 16

From Sentinel Hill, go southeast to the bridge that leads to Duskwood. Go over it and stick to the road leading east. When you reach Darkshire, get the flightpath and go to the inn. Inside the inn, find the bartender and buy a Bottle of Moonshine and continue north by the road until you reach Redridge Mountains. On the border of Redridge you should meet Guard Parker. Get the quest [16] Encroaching Gnolls from him. Then go north by the road and you should soon after be in Lakeshire. Get the flight path and go to the inn across the river. Go to the first floor and talk with Wiley the Black. Complete [18] The Defias Brotherhood and get the follow up. Get the quest [18] The Price of Shoes as well. Run back to the flight master and take a flight to Westfall. In Westfall, go to Gryan Stoutmantle and complete [18] The Defias Brotherhood. Get the follow up and heart to Stormwind.

In Stormwind go sell, repair, AH and learn new skills. When done, run to the Old Town district and in the southeastern part of the district you should find Mathias Shaw. Turn in [18] The Defias Brotherhood and get the follow up. Then go to Baros Alexton at the Cathedral Square and turn in [15] Humble Beginnings .

Go to Ironforge either by the tram or by flight, make it your home, and then from Ironforge, fly to Loch Modan.
When you arrive, run directly east from Thelsamar, swim across the lake and you should see Bingle standing with his crashed plane at log (64,48). Turn in [15] Find Bingles and get the follow up: [15] Bingles Missing Supplies. Then run southeast to the Farstrider Lodge at log (82,62) and get the following quests in the following order:

    1. [15] Crocolisk hunting
    2. [16] A Hunter’s Boast

As soon as you’ve accepted the quest at timer will start. You now have 15 minutes to kill 6 Mountain buzzards. This isn’t too difficult. Run southwest to log (77,74) and kill Buzzards until you’ve completed the quest. Then run back to the lodge and turn in the quest and get the follow up.

When you accept this a new timer showing 12 minutes will appear. Now, instead of running southwest as before, run northwest towards the place where you found Bingle. It should be pretty easy to find and slay 5 boars, and when done, run back to the lodge, complete the quest and run back to Bingle.

Stand at Bingle and look at the lake. You should see 2 islands. One with trees on it another without. Go to the island without trees at log (55,54) and kill Crocolisks until you’ve completed [15] Crocolisk hunting. Then swim north to the two most northern islands in the lake. Start by clearing the camp on the small island at log (48,29) and loot Bingle’s Toolbucket for Bingle’s Wrench. Go to the western part of the big island at log (48,21); clear the camp and loot Bingle’s Screwdriver. Then go to the middle part of the island at log (52,24), clear the place and loot Bingle’s Hammer. Finally go to the most eastern part of the island and loot Bingle’s Blastencapper. You should grind this place until the following objectives are done:

    Kill 10 Bonesplitter Bonesnappers
    Kill 10 Bonesplitter Shamans
    Ding level 17

    Level 17

Go north to Stonewrought Dam at log (47,13) and get the quest [18] A Dark Threat Looms then go east down the ramp and turn around. You should see two level 17 Dark Iron Sappers. Kill them and click on the suspicious barrel. Complete the quest and get the follow up. Go back to the middle of the Dam and complete the quest. Don’t get the follow up.

Go back to Bingle and turn in [15] Bingles Missing Supplies. Then run to the lodge and turn in [15] Crocolisk hunting. Sell and Repair. Then head west to Ironbands Excavation Site at log (65,67). Get the following quests:

    [15] Excavaiton Progress Report
    [18] Gathering Idols

The Troggs that drops the Idols are located inside the excavation site to east, so go in there and gather 8 Carved Stone Idols. Once done, turn it in and go to Thelsamar and turn in [15] Excavaiton Progress Report. Get the follow up. Go south to the Valley of Kings and turn in [15] In Defense of the King’s Lands. Do not get the follow up.

Now you should be over halfway to level 18 so I recommend some grinding. So go back to the excavation site and kill Stonesplinters until you ding level 18.

    Level 18

Warp to Ironforge, and go to the Hall of Explorers. Talk with Prospector Stormpike and complete the quest. Don’t get the follow up. Now go to Stormwind, train, repair and sell then head to the Trade District at log (52,67) and buy a Cask of Merlot. Then run to Goldshire and turn in the quest [18] The Price of Shoes ang get the follow up. Go to the inn and buy a Skin of Sweet Rum from the barkeeper. Then go to Westfall. In Westfall turn in the quest at Gryan Stoutmantle and get the follow up.

The messenger is patrolling between Gold Coast Quarry and Moonbrook. Run to Gold Coast Quarry and run south by the road until you reach Moonbrook. If you encounter The Messenger on the way, kill him and loot him. If you do not encounter him then wait in Moonbrook until he spawns and then loot A Mysterious Message.

Now run east to Dagger Hills at log (53,72) and kill the Defias in this area until you’ve completed [17] The Peoples Militia. Work your way up the hills heading south-west to log (44,80) and you'll see a dwarf. Get his quest and turn it in immediately since you got the 5 Hops. Go back to Sentinel Hill and turn in [17] The Peoples Militia and [18] The Defias Brotherhood. Then go to the defias traitor and get the follow up.

Note: As soon as you accept this quest you will have to escort the traitor through Moonbrook. This isn’t hard, as the Traitor generally assist you on every mob you attack. The quest ends at the entrance to the Deadmines near the town square of Moonbrook

When done, run west to the Westfall Lighthouse. Get the quests:

    1. [19] The Coast isn’t Clear
    2. [20] The Costal Menace

The Murlocs can be found along the shore, so run back and forth until you’ve completed both quests. Old Murk-eye wanders around just east of the lightshouse

Turn in both quests and head back to Sentinel Hill. Turn in the [18] The Defias Brotherhood, get the follow up and fly to Redridge Mountains

In Redridge, get the following quests:

    1. [14] Dry Times
    2. [15] Hillarys Necklace
    3. [15] Elmore’s Task
    4. [15] A Free Lunch
    5. [16] The Lost Tools
    6. [18] Redridge Goulash
    7. [21] Blackrock Menace
    8. [21] Selling Fish

And turn in the following quests:

    [14] Dry Times
[16] Encroaching Gnolls and get the follow up [17] Assesing the Threat
[18] Return to Verner and get the two new quests: [20] A Baying of Gnolls and [18] Underbelly Scales

From now on kill every Goretusk, Condor and Spider you meet in order to complete [18] Redridge Goulash

    1) Start by running south to the edge of Redridge at log (16,71). Here you should find Guard Parker. Turn in the quest and get the follow up.

    2) Run east to Lakeridge Highway at log (28,81) and kill 10 Mongrels and 6 Poachers.

    3) Then run north and kill Black Dragon Whelps until you’ve collected 6 Underbelly Whelp Scales.

    4) Go even further north and into the lake. Scout through it until you find a crashed boat and a box next to it at log (42,55). Dive down, carefully avoiding the murlocs, and loot Oslow’s Toolbox from the box

    5) Swim west to the other side of the bridge. Now look for what looks like a pile of mud labelled: Glinting Mud. When you find it loot Hilary’s Necklace.

    6) If you need any more goretusks then go east to log (16,54). Be carefull though, as Bellygrub (a level 24 mob) is roaming the area so try to pull the goretusks to you. (Thanks to Rothselm for this tip)

    7) Return to Lakeshire and turn in:

    [15] Visit the Herbalist
, get the follow up and turn that in as well (in the Inn)
    [15] Hillarys Necklace
    [18] Underbelly Scales
    [17] Assesing the Threat
    [16] The Lost Tools
and get the quest [20] The Everstill Bridge from him as well

That should make you ding 19, or really close to.

    Level 19

    7) Go north from Lakeshire to Redridge Canyons at log (36,36). Kill Gnolls until you’ve:

    Killed 8 Redridge Mystics
    Killed 10 Redridge Brutes
    Collected 5 Iron Pikes
    Collected 5 Iron Rivets

Cool Once done, run east to Alther’s mill at log (53,42) and kill as many Goretusks, Condors and Spirders you need in order to complete [18] Redridge Goulash.

    9) Then head south and jump down the cliffs killing every murloc you encounter on your way down.

Swim west until you see a Murloc camp at log (41,45). Now kill these Murlocs until you’ve collected 10 Spotted Sunfish and 8 Murloc Fins.

Note: If the place is crowded you can go to log (48,70), there should be plenty of Murlocs there.

    10) Then go back to Lakeshire and turn in:

    [21] Selling Fish.
    [18] Redridge Goulash
    [20] The Everstill Bridge
    [20] A Baying of Gnolls

You should be level 20 by now (if not, grind on Gnolls).

When you’re level 20, return to Lakeshire and get the quest [20] Murloc Poachers and instantly turn it in.

And this concludes my guide. You can still level on and if you decide to do so, I recommend that you go to the Deadmines (you got the main quest, and the other quests are pretty easy to get). You can follow Jame’s Deadmines guide for information and tactics for the various boss encounters the instance has to offer.

I hope you enjoyed reading my guide, and I would love if you would leave some kind of feedback

Joan’s Alliance Leveling Guide Chapter 2 – Alliance level 13-20

Joan’s Alliance Leveling Guide Chapter 2 – Alliance level 13-20

Introduction:

This guide starts at level 13. So if you want to play up a character you may follow my guide for 1-12 witch in practice takes you to 13.

I wont take the quests that’s specific for the class, but I recommend you to do them. They are most often worth the trouble.

I won’t say “sell and repair” or “visit the class trainer” just do it when you think it’s proper, but try to keep them when you are in the area of a vendor or a trainer.

I don’t say this is the fastest or even a fast way to do it (even if I think it is..) but it’s a way to level between 13-20.

Many people may think the travel is a waist of time but consider that you have to do the travel at some point this may be it .

  1. Level
  2. Location
  3. Quest
  4. NCP’s
  5. Items / Mobs

Recommendations:

When I’ve done this guide I’ve used the add on “Titan panel” witch is very useful and I recommend you to use it.

Titan panel: It’s a very useful addon with may different features. But it’s mostly because I sometimes use locations in my guide with coordinates (x,y), and the panel shows them. But it’s also shows you a lot of other things. Download the lates version here.

Chapter 2

Level 13

Time to travel to Westfall! When you have crossed the bridge in to Westfall there is two farmers standing along the road. Take the following quests:

  1. [10] Report to Gryan Stoutmantle
  2. [10] Westfall Stew
  3. [14] Poor Old Blanchy

Then follow the road until it splits in two, leave the road and go to the farm ahead, but do not go into the fields! When you get close, keep an eye out for Sack of Oats and if you find any pick it up.
At the farm turn in [10] Westfall Stew and take the quests:
  1. [12] Goretusk Liver Pie
  2. [13] Westfall Stew
  3. [15] The Killing Fields

When that done, move on to Sentinel Hill. Remember to take the flight path. Once that’s done, turn in [10] Report to Gryan Stoutmantle . And take the quests as follow:
  1. [12] The People’s Militia
  2. [14] Patrolling Westfall
  3. [15] Red Leather Bandanas (just beside the inn.)

Empty you bags, buy food and drink, then it’s time to move out. There is a lot of places where you may find Defias Trapper and Defias Smuggler, but I find the best spots just around the village.

Start killing them to finish of

  1. [12] The People’s Militia
  2. [15] Red Leather Bandanas
  3. [14] Poor Old Blanchy if you can but there is no need just try.

When you are done, turn in [15] Red Leather Bandanas and [12] The People’s Militia , and take the follow up. When that is done you should be well over level 14.

Level 14

Time to travel, fly to Stormwind, and there put in your quest items in the bank to save bag space. After that:
In short: Travel to Darkshore.
In detail: First to Ironforge, then to Loch Modan and after that to Wetlands. From Wetlands take the boat over to Darkshore.
Remember to take the flight paths in all the areas you pass.
