(Ally) How you can make 6310 gold before 61!

Short note:
510 for 150 riding skill (Assumes you’re exalted with at least one faction of alliance).
800 for 225 riding skill
5000 for 300 riding skill
Total: 6310 BEFORE 70
Well a short introduction I suppose is at hand. These are notes I put together while leveling a Paladin on a Vanilla account (no Burning Crusade installed). My goal was to see if I could raise the amount of gold needed for 1-300 riding skill BEFORE 61. In addition I wanted to do it in shorter time then it took my first character to raise 5000 gold.
I was intrigued by this because my first horde character, a druid, obtained his first 300 riding skill around 3 months ago. It took him around the same amount of time (three months) to raise the gold from doing dailies, farming motes, etc.). I also wanted a 70 from both sides ready for the next expansion when it came out
Well yesterday I’m proud to say in just two months and 15 days my Paladin is now sitting slightly over 6310 gold while being level 60. (On a side note: at some point I will make pictures showing my paladins gold amount)
Perhaps the most intriguing (I suppose to new players as well as those that do not have 70’s) is that all you need is a 58 plus character, two-three hours per day, patience, and discipline.
Class, Skills, other Recommendations:
The class can be any; it doesn’t matter so long as you enjoy the class. For skills, however, I HIGHLY recommend you pick up mining/skinning because honestly it’s where the bulk of the money comes from. While not needed, I do recommend on having an alt character level 35+ de’er. One that is capable of disenchanting items 51-58. While 150 mount training does help (can also knock off 510 gold needed to raise) you’ll want at least level mount training just to decrease going to/from distance (My paladin at the time of beginning and ending of this grind only had 75 riding skill).
Rivern Frostwind
You’ll get to know him pretty well in the upcoming days for his the reason behind the grind to 6310 gold. For alliance players you can rep grind a pretty cool looking mount with a unique trait.
As the tooltip states here: http://www.wowhead.com/?item=13086 the mount itself is a very fast mount but only requires 75 riding skill! But really that’s just icing on the cake. It’s the first quest he gives you that helped me raise 6310 gold.
Frostsaber Provisions: http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=4970, involves you killing two different creatures for six total pieces of meat both also capable of being skinned. The skins you will get are usually thick or of rugged quality. On most servers these can go for anywhere between 15-30 gold (30 gold more so for rugged). Rugged and Thick are also usually in short supply since people with 70’s buy them out for power leveling pre 300 skill level professions.
Even better: Thorium (and inside a few caves are Rich) Veins spawn at various points where you’ll be grinding: http://www.wowhead.com/?object=324. Like Rugged Leather, Thorium sells anywhere between 15-20 gold for each stack!
Send whatever occasional greens that you find to your de’er alt which disenchants into illusion dust which also sells for 20-30 gold perstack! During the grind I was even lucky and found a few epics.
While long and tedious it was refreshing to earn mount money needed for 125, 225, and 300 mount training before 70. In turn I think it will make 61-70 more enjoyable this time around since I do not have to worry about all the future farming my druid had to go through.

could this same thing be done with herb and skining ?
Skinning...
IMO Skinning is a bad profession to depend on money wise. The bottom drops out of the market more times than I'd care to remember for two reasons. 1, people are always trying to beat everyones prices and 2, Leather is easy to get as a skinner.

Same for almost anything you try to post at the AH, it's called 'undercutting' >_>
And skinning is a great profession to start with, combined with mining cuz having two gathering professions equals lots of cash for early levels. Why choose skinning and not herbalism? Because the Detect herbs ability interferes with the Find Minerals one

Greens come and go but epics stay soulbound
