Guursyd's Gold at 70 Guide

Hello Reader!

This guide is written for any level 70 player looking for ways to increase their gold. For any without copious time to put into playing, I suggest the Daily Quests section. For everyone else, I believe everything is relevant.

Disclaimer: This guide is NOT all inclusive. Please feel free to suggest additions in comments.

Daily Quests

A quick series of daily quests I like to hit are with the two factions Sha'tari Skyguard and Ogri'la.

If you have not done the proper quests to start gaining Ogri'la and Sha'tari Skyguard rep, I suggest wowwiki's pages for instructions on gaining neutral status (if you are neutral, not all quests will be immediately available):
http://www.wowwiki.com/Ogrila
http://www.wowwiki.com/Shatari_Skyguard

-Skettis - Sha'tari Skyguard
To start here I generally take the FP from Shattrath to Allerian Stronghold/Stonebreaker Hold before flying up into Skettis.
Fires Over Skettis: 11g 99s reward
Escape From Skettis: 9g 10s reward
-For this quest, say in general chat "LFG escort" and you will most likely be invited to one quickly. NPC that gives the quest spawns at (60, 75), (68, 74), and (75, 86) randomly. Easily done alone if not ganked.

After turning these in, I take the free Sha'tari flight to Blade's Edge Mountains. The flight option will be available at honored.

Pick up all the following quests before doing any of them.
-BEM - Sha'tari Skyguard
Wrangle More Aether Rays: 11g 99s
Bomb Them Again: 11g 99s

-BEM - Ogri'la
The Relic's Emination: 9g 10s
-Open a chat dialog and type something to help you remember the order. I use 7, 9, 1, and 3 on keypad personally.
Banish More Demons: 11g 99s

Do Banish More Demons and Bomb Them Again one after the other, either forge camp works.

The following total does not take into account vendoring grays you loot. Those should add 2-5 gold.
Total: 66g 16s
Time: ~1hour

Farming

-Motes
Elemental Plateau - Nagrand: Stay away from here unless you want to PvP while farming. This area, just north of the Throne of Elementals (requires flying), houses Water, Fire, Air, and Earth elementals.

Shadowmoon Valley: Fire elementals are in the green lava-flow looking area west of The Hand of Gul'dan. Air elementals can be found slightly east and south of Sanctum of the Stars. Water elementals are slightly south and east of Coilskar Point.

Skettis - Terokkar Forest: Water elementals are in the lake. There is also a large named water elemental mob, just avoid it. It's not worth fighting and has, in my experience, dropped primarily gray items. Aggro radius is, luckily, small. Also beware elite trees when fighting on/near the shore.

Netherstorm: A good place to farm Motes of Mana. Kirin'var Village is a popular (read: BAD) place to farm, from the Mana Seekers. My favorite way of farming is going west from Area 52 to the edge of the land then walk north and east, following the edge killing Phase Hunters. Once I reach the eastern edge of the Ruins of Enkaat, I switch to Mana Wraiths, make my way back to Manaforge B'nar, and start over.

-Aldor/Scryer items
Manafoge (any) - Netherstorm:The blood elves in and around these drop Scryer rep items. According to Thottbot, the Sunfury Warp-Engineers at Manaforge B'nar have the highest drop rate of Arcane Tomes.

Socrethar's Seat - Netherstorm: I love this place. It's the floating island to the extreme northwest corner of the map. Do circles around Socrethar's platform, make sure to swing lower south every few laps to check for Adamantite deposits if you have mining. There are a few Rich Adamantite nodes. All the mobs here drop Aldor rep items and respawn quickly.

Legion Hold - Shadowmoon Valley: Stick to the Wrathwalkers. They go down fast. If you've got good DPS, < 5 seconds. They are pretty close together, so you can come away from here with very good amounts of Aldor rep items.

Firewing Point - Terokkar Forest: I only mention this one due to the lower level of the NPCs. At 70, these should go down very fast. I don't think I've ever seriously farmed here, but in my visits, I generally leave with an Arcane Tome.

Auction House

Obvious, I know. I would like to suggest the Auctioneer add-on. Scan daily and it will ensure you get a good price for your items while ensuring mostly one listing sales. Scan for at least a week before trusting its pricing. For now, I suggest the Classic suite over Advanced.

Enchanting: If you have enchanting, you may notice that Auctioneer includes a tool to give AH values on materials from disenchanting an item. If the AH suggested price is lower than the estimated mat price, then disenchant and sell the mats. I found that most of my greens from farming were best sold this way.

If you don't have enchanting, friends with the skill will most likely do it for you. Be sure to pick someone you trust.

Mining: While not as directly helpful as enchanting, many of the above suggested quests and farming areas take you around places that commonly have nodes. Keep an eye out for them. Bars generally sell better than ore, but check both prices.

It's Over!

I hope this guide is helpful. Again, please note any additional information you feel should be added in comments and I will fact check and update as needed.

Nice job

You touched on about everything I'd think of. I have heard of another farming spot for Aldor rep drops. Death's Door in Blade's Edge Mountains supposedly is a good place to farm. It's directly south of Ruuan Weald if you can fly, if not, just take the tunnel entrance at the end of the path going south from Thunderlord Stronghold.

Also, if you're interested in farming Elemental Water, another decent spot is the lake northeast of Shattrath, if only because the mobs there are so easily killable at level 70. If I remember correctly, the drop rate for motes from them is between 40-50%. Depending on your server size, there might be slight competition, but it's not anywhere near as bad as the Elemental Plateau or Kin'Var Village.

One last thing. By far the easiest way to save up for your epic mount is to make sure you hit level 70 while questing in Blade's Edge Mountains, BEFORE you even touch the Netherstorm and Shadowmoon Valley quests. This will make your life so much easier with all the quests in those zones giving you the bonus cash (usually just under 13g per quest, and almost 25g for group/instance quests).

Thanks

Yes, I've read about the ogri-lazy addon. It just handles making the Emanations quest easier. Since my chat + numpad method works fine for me I've never used it.

Here's the link if anyone would like to try it out:
