WOLFSARK’S ROGUE GUIDE
[CHAPTER I]

INTRODUCTION

Chapter I of my guide focuses at the beginning parts of World of Warcraft and being a lower level (up to level 20, to be precise) and may seem very obvious to "veteran gamers". The later chapters will cover being higher levels and may be of some use to the more experienced gamer.

This guide does not feature how and where to train.

I try to keep the information as short and as simple as possible so, you can get on with the game.

I try not to state the obvious although; I do sometimes have a tendency to do so.

I have titled each part with the level (e.g. LEVEL 6 [blank line] example example example)

So, without further ado let’s get started!

BRIEF SUMMARY OF WHAT THE CLASS IS LIKE/DOES

The class "ROGUE" combines stealth and cunning with huge damage and speed!
The rogue uses stealth to "jump" out behind its enemies and causing its damage.

RECOMMENDATIONS

When I was training my rogue I found it best to take a few potions with me, rogues can't always be the best if someone you attack lures a giant mob.

Take some food with you it will always come in handy.

Enchants can come in useful, but I only put them on items I am going to keep for a fair amount of time, as they can be quite expensive.

LEVEL 6

By this level, you should have bought all your skills from your first rogue trainer (although, this applies to all classes and their class’s trainer).
After this trainer you should change to which ever trainer is more convenient to you. For example, the trainer in the major city (SI: 7 in Stormwind) or the one nearest to where your training.

LEVEL 10

Congratulations on your first "target level". You should now go and train all the skills from your skill trainer. You can now duel-wield, in my opinion you should, rogues cannot use shields, so try to obtain the most damage you possibly can. Try to avoid vendor bought armour and weapons after level 10, you can get armour and weapons with far better stats, on the AUCTION HOUSE.
At level 10 the symbol for your talents on your main skill bar on your screen will start to flash, you have gained your first talent point. You have three options of what talent "tree" to go down [I’m not going to tell you what talent "tree" to go down, I don't want to take your "personal" side away from the game]. REMEMBER – there is no right or wrong thing to do.

These options are...

Combat - Many consider this to be the best to level with, it is based around head-on damage.

Assassination - Need I say more? Assassination is based around cunning moves, tricks and clever damage.

Subtlety - Many consider the best tree to take after level 60. This is based around slick moves and cunning in stealth.

You can change what talent tree you are by going to your skill trainer and clicking "I wish to unlearn my talents" this comes with price. After you do so, it gives you all of the talent points you have gained so far ready to spend.

I personally went down the subtlety tree straight away; I find it more interesting for the type of gamer that I am.

It's all up to you.

LEVEL 14

Time for another skill stop, go back to your trainer and stock up on your skills.

LEVEL 19

Many people consider this level (as well as sometimes level 9) to be a "TWINK" level. A twink is more often than not, a rogue rigged with enchants who usually slaughter people there own level and generally stays at that sane level. (not necessarily true, that is just a brief, quick summary).
You may want to go down this path (if you want to and if you can afford to!).

LEVEL 20

Congratulations on reaching your second "target level".
Poisons - visit your trainer, he should have a brand new quest for you, take it. It is a 3 part quest which at the end grants you able to make poisons (these are very useful for a rogue). If you are struggling to find the parts you need, or do not understand what is required for you to do for this quest it would be best to ask a high level, confident rogue, who I’m sure would be more than happy to help you out by telling you what to do for it.

Thank you for reading my guide, I do hope it comes in handy. I will be releasing my CHAPTER II in due course, which may be more suited for you more experienced gamers!

Personally, I think this is very misleading to new players. A new player should never waste money on enchants, neither should they spend much on AH. They will need to keep their weapons updated, and AH can come in handy for that, but most of the time, stay away.

It might also be worth mentioning that they will want a slow weapon in the main hand(slow is 2.3+, everything except daggers is fine) for fast leveling, the offhand speed doesn't matter at low levels. Of course they can go with whatever they find more fun, but people will be reading this guide to be better, and you should tell them what's best(though, you might not be the right person to write this kind of guide)

There's a lot of good talents for low level rogues, but the most important are Malice and Improved Sinister Strike. Get them both before level 20. Combat(20/40/0+1) is THE best pve specc and shadow step the most popular pvp specc. For playing at level 70, tell people to read the forums at elitistjerks, and I mean read them, since asking questions which answers is available in the threads isn't allowed.

New players: Play the game to have fun, level the way you want to, and care about being the best first when you reach high levels.(if that's what you want)

Veteran players leveling a rogue for the first time: The information in this comment is enough for leveling at a decent speed.

PS. Bring loads of food, the best you can get for your current level. First aid can speed up your leveling a little more, and can be a life saver combined with blind.
