Noth the Plaguebringer

Skeleton HP: 102,000
Boss HP: 2,500,000
Difficulty: Easy

Start Position

phase1naxx4.jpg

Phase 1

phase2naxx4.jpg

All the DPS’s should focus on killing the boss only. When the adds (skeletons) spawn, the offtank have to pick them up. The boss will also cast a Curse which will deal 5-6k damage and a heavy DoT if not de-cursed within 10 seconds. I advise you to have a mage or druid decursing the players who gets it, or it will become hard to heal as healer.

Phase 2

phase3naxx4.jpg

After a while, the boss will teleport away. Now it’s time to kill the skeletons, they will spawn from the corners (like shown on the picture). The adds will come in a few waves and then the boss will teleport back. Then go back to Phase 1 .

Heigan the Unclean

Boss HP: 3,100,000
Difficulty: Medium/hard

Start Position

phase1naxx5.jpg

Phase 1

phase3naxx5.jpg

When the fight begins, the maintank need to pull him to *Savepot 1*. All ranged and healers go to the platform. Melee DPS and offtank just need to follow the maintank.
Every 10 seconds the boss will pop green slime up from the floor. If you aren’t in *Savespot 1* you will get hit by 7k x2 damage. When he pops the green slime, move the boss to *Savespot 2*. Next time he pops the green slime, you will be save at *Savespot 2*. After 10 seconds he pops the slimes once more and you have to run to *Savespot 3*…….
The runs will go like: 1,2,3,4,3,2,1,2,3.. etc.

The boss casts *Decretpit Fever on a random target, which will deal 3k damage per 2 seconds on the target and reduces their HP by 50%. This need to be cleansed (By a paladin for example).

Phase 2

phase4naxx5.jpg

After a while, the boss will teleport to the platform. Make sure that the ranged DPS’s and the healers move away from the platform 2 seconds before he gets on it (watch Deadly Boss Mod or BigWings). Now, the whole group has to do the process in phase 1, but this time just much faster! If a player is standing on the platform he/she will get hit by a heavy DoT – don’t do that. After he pops the green slime – Move to savespot 2, you will only be able to wait 1 second, then the slime will pop up again, and you have to move once more. It’s prefered to have no dps or only instant casts on the boss during this phase.

Loatheb

Boss HP: 6,700,000
Difficulty: Medium/hard

The trash mobs between Heigan the Unclean and Loatheb can be very annoying. The tank have to pull the slimes inside the room all the way to the other entrance in one pull. Healers need to keep everyone alive through the room. If a player dies, you’ll all have to do it again because the trash respawn just when you have killed it. The DPS’s shouldn’t dps the slimes ONLY dps the eye stalks and NO AoE damage. It is critical if the tank loses aggro during this trash.

HINT: If you got a warlock in the group, at least make sure he/she survives. Then you can just summon the dead players.

Start Position

phase1naxx6.jpg

The Fight

phase2naxx6.jpg

The main object in this fight is how focused the healers are. The boss will cast *Necrotic Aura* which will decrease all healing effects by 100% for 15 seconds. When the aura fades away, all healers must be quick and get the raid and tank up. The healing will only be allowed for 3 seconds, then the boss will cast *Necrotic Aura* again. The boss will also leave a DoT to the whole raid, which will deal 200 damage every second.
Every 30 second Loatheb will summon a spore. The spore will drop an aura that increases critical strike change by 50%. You don’t have to run to it and just kill it. It’s a better idea to wait until the spore is at a range of 10 yards or something, then gather up (Melee Dps and Offtank) and kill it. The spore may also spawn from another side than shown on the picture. When this happens, the spore will probably spawn near the gate, and then the ranged dps and healer will deal with it. Gather up just like the Melee DPS’s main tank and offtank and kill it. The ranged DPS’s and healers
should kill it together as fast as possible.
Note that the spore must NOT reach the maintank, it will reduce his/her threat to zero.

Noth addsYour picture is incorrect in where the adds come from. The adds ONLY spawn from the skeleton piles along two walls of the room. There are two walls with NO skeleton piles.

The **BEST** place to tank Noth is near the corner joining the two walls with no skeleton piles. All heals and ranged dps stand IN the corner with their backs against the walls. OT picks up adds easily as they move across the entire room almost like a funnel straight to him. Any adds would have to get past two tanks to get to the napkin-wearers. It’s also helpful to have all the ranged dps grouped up for when Noth blinks and resets aggro. The tank will taunt but dps almost never stops dps’ing after a blink (w/ a good tank, many ranged will never even realize he blinked) so tank needs to be in melee range quickly after taunt to continue building threat.

Need more DPS?just a thing that suddenly popped up in my mind.

If you cannot kill Loatheb, simply because the dps is not high enough and you get too many stacks of ‘Inevitable Doom’ to heal through:

    Think this through:

Having the debuff of a Spore make you gain no threat at all

All DPS should always have this debuff

Thus only your tank makes threat

Tank has a huge lead on threat

Give you tank a spore as well

Shield Slam crits FTW!!
Their is no danger that your tank loses his first spot on the threatlist because he is far ahead and all DPS should have the debuff = no threat at all to them.

Yes you are so right, I’veYes you are so right, I’ve forgot all those detailed things about specific classes etc. My guild is just that new-started (I created with one of my friends), he is a perfect geared tank; problems like trash bewteen Heigan and Loatheb is easymode.
So i will try to add more of those things in the future 😉

    1. I mean: DPS AoE the adds1. I mean: DPS AoE the adds down if there are too many of them. Doesn’t take long and I think your offtank healer will thank you for it :). That the tank is attacking the mobs is indeed obvious but that was not the point I was trying to make.

    2. it is *decreasing* casting speed indeed, I was gonna type *increasing* casting time …

    3. I know, I was just giving the dot-type (Disease) so people know if their class can dispel it (abolish in this case)

    4. I agree with the ‘many way to do this’. As understood your text you wanted to do it in one rush without stops. Thus I merely stated that stopping is allowed and even should be done when tank takes too much damage from too many adds.

    5. Spotting the mob is not the problem. Waiting until 4 more people have joined you before popping it is a different story though. That’s why we give the responsibility for the kill to only one person, to avoid ‘kill-on-sight’ things happening and only 1 player getting the (de)buff

    6. Yes a bit elaborate… but for first-timers it ain’t that obvious. I was under the assumption that this guide was for beginners in Naxxramas. Thus I added the basic healing rules: group heals, HoTs, precasting.

An extra. I never intended to break down your guide because I think it is awesome that you have put your time into it and all the info in it is correct. All I want(ed) is to fill in some, in my opinion, important blanks which have given us the most problems while progressing or are hardest to get for newcomers. (There are still people who never have been in Naxxramas)

Comments: Precasting savesI don’t think that it’s a good idea to dismiss all of the suggestions and tips in the original comment, remember that most of the people who read this guide will be reading it before going to naxx for the first time, or doing a boss for the first time, all these little tips can really help.

Suggestion 1: Adds killingSuggestion 1: Adds killing Noth the Plague Bringer
Answer 1: My experience is that the tank won’t get any problem. Ofcasuse he will need to *attack them* like a normal tank do, and why I don’t add this is; Isn’t that obvius? tanks shouldn’t attack? but yes, will add it 😉

    Suggestion 2: Heigans Phase 1
Answer 2: Yes, thats right, but shouldn’t be decreasing instead of increasing :O?

    Suggestion 3: Decript Fever
Answer 3 : Already wrote at the end of the Heigan part.

Suggestion 4: Trash Between Heigan and Loatheb
Answer 4: It can be done many ways, I just added what the basic tacts is 🙂 another way could also be to take it in 6-7 parts and kill them all in a few stops on the way to the gate.

    Suggestion 5: Spores
Answer 4: Come on, it isn’t that hard to spot the spore :P? the experience required to Naxxramas is standard, and when you are *standard* you should be able to spot a mob in a room.

    Suggestion 6: Necrotic Aura
Answer 6: I think your suggestion is another guide itself. Healers should know how to spend the 3 seconds on healing most effective. If the healers don’t, then you should probably explore your class abit more :p

Yeh, it’s me again.. sorryYeh, it’s me again.. sorry for the nitpicking.. but I hate having unaware pugs and this is an awesome media to educate people a little. So a little more remarks (as I did on Arachnid also). Feel free to include whatever info you want in the guide and delete my comments afterward.

    Noth the Plaguebringer:
-> Adds spawning (I need confirmation on this). It is my experience that adds NEVER spawn in the bottom-left corner of the room. Thus making your raid start on the left side instead of the right side, as drawn in the picture, will give the adds more traveling time. This gives the offtank more time to pick them all up.
-> Adds killing: Unless you have a awesome geared tank and amazing healers we have found it impossible to keep the offtank alive without killing adds before the teleport. We usually wait for 3-4 adds, at this point the offtank moves the adds next to the boss and dps can AoE on adds and boss at the same time. If needed the offtank runs of with the remaining adds to pick up new ones. Repeat till enough adds are down.
-> The Curse: Dispel Magic (Priest) also removes it.

    Heigan the Unclean:
-> Green Slime: only damages when it comes up, not when it goes down. So once it is up you can already run through the slime to your next savespot. This might give slow folks a little bit of extra time.
-> Phase 1: Tank must keep him far enough from platform because he increases casting speed of all people within a certain range (anyone has a number?). This makes it very hard for caster dps to do damage or healers to heal you (13 second Flash Heal anyone?). It can be tricky for new tanks to be far enough away but stay in healing range while paying attention to savezones. Don’t blame them, let them learn.
-> Decript Fever is a disease so can/MUST be abolished.

    Loatheb:
-> Gauntlet/Trash: Stick to a wall so you pull only half the room. A stop in the middle to AoE the little buggers will make it easier. Raidleader should call out when to stop and AoE so no-one acts on his own and pulls all aggro.
-> Spore: if killed it increases crit chance by 50% to the 5 closest people in 8yard range and reduces there threat generation to zero. Giving it to healers once in a while will increase their ability to keep you alive in the short time they have.
Due to the threat mechanism the tank should be way ahead of any dps on threat. If you see one dps sticking close on threat he is not taking the spore buff. Once the tank is far ahead it is safe to let a spore go close to him and have him take the buff also. Constant Shield Slam crits (Warrior tanks) are a nice addition to your dps.
-> Spore Strategy: This is how we do it. We mark one ranged dps with something very visible, usual the blue cube. He is the spore-spotter and should be the only one looking for spores. Once he found a spore he will call out the location and move there, the mark helps other players to find him fast. When the spore is close enough to the boss (minimize melee dps run time) he calls for a kill. At that call all dps gathers up around the spotter, kill the spore and go back on boss. So the spore-spotter has three jobs: locate a spore, tell others where it is, call the kill. We started using this tactic to avoid trigger happy dps to keep the spore for themselves and popping it as soon as they reached it.
    -> Necrotic Aura:
    * Only experience it as Discipline Priest using this tactic: Prayer of Healing on a group, Penance on MT.
    * Coordinate area heals with other healers to cover entire raid.
    * HoTs can be applied while the Aura is still active but will only heal in the 3 second downtime.
    * Precasting saves lives. My Prayer of Healing takes 2.4seconds to cast, I start casting 2.3s before Aura fades landing my heal right after healing my group almost immediatly. This gives me more time on emergency Penance and/or Flash Heal if needed.

Again to much text 🙁 apologies for the wall of text.

You can also use totems toYou can also use totems to help show the raid where the safe zones are, i.e. one in each zone. This doesn’t always work, but can help an inexperienced group.

Heigan is my favorite fight in Naxx as a druid healer, I am an amazing dance healer!

Again, nice work here EricAgain, nice work here Eric 🙂

For Heigan you may want to point out that he deals AOE damage around himself once he is on the platform (phase 2), the AOE is called Plague Cloud. If you are near him it will kill you in a couple of ticks (ticks once every 3 seconds). This is the reason why everyone in the raid has to ‘dance’ and cannot just stay on the platform. I know that in the guide you have mentioned that the ranged and healers should move away from the platform, but I just thought it could use an explanation.

    Cheers

For Loatheb, it’s importantFor Loatheb, it’s important to note that the main tank should NOT be in range when spores are killed, it reduces threat gained to zero. And while healing is of course vital and the most difficult part of that fight, it’s also important to note that it’s a DPS race – which is why the spores are so important.

Also a bit of trivia – Loatheb is an anagram for healbot 🙂
