Jame's Alliance Leveling Guide - Addon Version
Installation
Download and install the following Addons
- WoW-Pro Leveling Addon - The base of the addon. Updated for patch 3.3
- TomTom - Handles coordinates (It's that arrow which points you to where you need to go). If you have Cartographer, you don't need this, since Cartographer has it's own arrow.
- Lightheaded - Makes TomTom even better, make sure to install this addon or you won't always get a TomTom arrow to show you the way.
- WARNING: If you have QuestHelper installed, you should disable it, or at least disable the TomTom arrow option in Questhelper, or it will conflict with our addon and give you wrong directions.
If you are not familiar with the installation of addons, it can be done as follows:
- Download and unzip the addon files.
- Navigate to the World of Warcraft directory
- Windows XP: C:\\Program Files\World of Warcraft
- Windows Vista: C:\\Users\Public\Games\World of Warcraft
- Open the "Interface" folder, then the "Addons" folder inside it.
- Copy and paste the "WoW-Pro", "TomTom" and "Lightheaded" folders into the World of Warcraft/Interface/Addons directory.
You can check in-game if you've installed it correctly; when you go to the character selection screen, on the bottom left corner of the screen is a button called "Addons". Click that, then scroll down and look for Lightheaded, TomTom and WoW-Pro (it's in alphabetical order). Make sure they're enabled.
It should look like this:

Once in game, you should see the TourGuide bar under your minimap:

If this is a new character you just created, the correct guide should already be selected automatically.
If this is not a new character, click the TourGuide bar, a window will pop-up with a list of guides sorted by zones and level ranges:

Pick a guide close to your level and in a zone where you haven't done all the quests.
There you go, just follow the addon!

For more information on how to use the addon, please visit the WoW-Pro Leveling Addon General Info Page.
If you want to help contributing by working on a section, please check the following links:
Even though it's an in-game leveling addon, there are still a few things you need to know, and you'll find them in each section of the guide below. They will contain information such as shopping lists, general information about the zone and other things which can't be included in the addon for practical reasons. The addon will tell you to alt-tab back to the guide page whenever necessary, this will happen very rarely though, don't worry, 99% of the guide is taken care of by the addon in-game!

ARRRRGH!!!!!
Finally got around to updating my leveling guides package. Downloaded latest versions of everything from this page.
When I accept a quest, the guide does not check it off and send me to the next step. If I check it off manually, the WHOLE THING is checked off as completed! There's no in-between. If I uncheck the turn-in and/or the instructions of where to go to do the quest, it also unchecks the directions as to where to get the quest.
EDIT: Sorry, this isn't entirely a fault of the add-ons, and it might not be related to them at all. After shutting down all of my add-ons, I found I have the following problem - When I accept a quest, it does not appear in my quest log even though the quest giver indicates that I have the quest. I have to log the toon out and back in for it to appear in my log. Furthermore, when I try to abandon a quest, I have to log out and back in again to get the quest out of my log.

Me too!
I have also encountered the second problem you mentioned, but only once while following the Silverpine guide. Two quests I KNOW I accepted did not appear in my log and did not register on my in-game tracker So far it's only happened with two specific quests: "Wild Hearts" (gather 6 "Discolored Worg Hearts") and "The Deathstalkers' Report" (gave me the report and that WAS in my inventory). I logged out turned off all add-ons and logged in and the quests were there. Logged back out turned them all back on again and they were still there. It was an easy fix and it has not happened since.
What other add-ons are you running? I run quite a few, but I think the only ones I run that have an affect on the Quest Log are Everyquest and Lightheaded.
Tour Guide
so when are they going to update tour guide for the new patch 3.3? is there another link to get it or something? i really want to use this guide but the only addon thats out of date is tourguide

You can get the new version
You can get the new version of the guides here. If you have this version of the WoW-Pro guides already, you can get rid of TourGuide since it has been integrated into these guides.
Administrator
Actually the latest version
Actually the latest version can be found here at the top of this page. Just click on the link called "WoW-Pro Leveling Addon"
Azshara (51-52)
Near the beginning of this guide, it tells you to fly from IF to Menethil, then take the boat to Auberdine. That boat is in Stormwind, now. The online guide has been corrected for this, but the addon still sends you to Menethil.
Not updating automatically
Hey there. I've used this guides forever and they are awesome. One quick thing though. My quests are long longer updating automatically within the guide. I have to keep licking the box. I do get an error upon starting up the game though and I think this is related. Is there a way to fix this and get the list to update on its own?
Lvls
hey guys, i just started useing Jame's lvling guides and they are very helpful.
i had a comment reguarding the human 1-12 (Elwyn Forest) guide. For some reason i always come up short on lvls. whether it is the recent removal of aggresive creeps in the strating area resulting in less fighting and less exp, or whether my sneaking around helps with less fighting.
i am currently leveling a human paladin and came up a level and a half short of level 12. for this reason i could not yet do the tome of divinity quest line which constitutes the last about 15% of the guide for paladins. a suggestion would be to add a few more Westfall quests such as The Peoples Malitia (Part 1/2) and a few of Furlows quests like Old Blanchy and Furlows Pocketwatch. this should make up for the missing exp needed to do the Ttome of Divinty quest line
thx again for the guides
human pally
the paladin class quest in the humans guide is too early.
the guide sent me to sw and i had not even hit 11
its a lvl 12 quest
also the "red linen goods quest"
it says kill defias bandits or smth like that with no indication which way to go from eastvale logging camp
i happened to remember there are defias ppl somewhere in the south near the princess pig.
4 local quests in sw were already too low at lvl 10, question mark didnt even apear on top of the heads, so whats the purpose?
however these are minor things
the addon works great and im rly happy i got it
cant wait to see how it works further
Dragonblight Guide wont's show up.
For some reason, the Dragonblight guide won't show up. Jame's Grizzly Hills guide is there; James Howling Fjord guide is there. In between, nothing.
I've done it before, on my main character. But I'm now on my third alt, and none of them have had the guide show up in the list. I've re-downloaded the file, I've edited the file looking for formatting errors, everything. No luck.
I am positive Tour Guide is turned on. I am positive I have Jane's guides installed and enabled. I just don't have Dragonblight in the list.
Any one have any ideas?
Manovan's Night Elf Guide (1-13) | Needs Testing
Specifically the quest Tears of the Moon, there is no kill step only 2 quest turn in steps.
love your guides and have used both the website version and addon version, keep it up!
Waypoint
Idk what i did but my waypoint is gone and i dont know how to get it back i deleted everything (tomtom tourguide etc) and reinstalled it and it still wont pop up help plz
I downloaded this in-game
I downloaded this in-game guide yesterday and I absolutely think its great. Thank you for taking the time and effort into writing this guide.
Addon guide correction needed
Hi. Found another instance of the addon guide indicating to go to the wrong place. Jame's Alliance Leveling Guide (40-50) Stranglethorn Vale (42-44) quest turn in "Stranglethorn Fever (Pt 2)" cords indicate to go back to the witch doctor to turn in, rather than Fin Fizracket in Booty Bay. Correct cords are: 27.66, 76.74. Thanks.
Excellent, but...
First off, the guide(s?) are amazing, excellent, and an incredible timesaver! Thanks alot for them
However, when I created a Draenei Warrior, the guides (any at all, the wow-pro ones OR TourGuide's default ones) won't show up, and an error displays. Sorry if this is a known problem
I can paste the error here if needed, didn't want too in this comment because of the space it would take up.
Thanks!
HELP!
none of the wow-pro guides are showing up on the guide list!! please help

Have you checked the FAQ page? Let me know if that still does not answer your question.
Thanks
it worked, i had to tick the 'load out of date addons' thingy

Cool
We're planning to release an update of the addon soon that will fix that.
Cord correction needed.
Hi. Addon for Aliance 30-40 guide needs cord correction. Quest "Secondhand Diving Gear" indicates the gear is located in a totaly different place. Correct cord (62, 18) should be almost next to the quest giver, not 1000 yards away.
Thanks for the great guides.

Glitch?
Hi again! Just working through the Alliance Borean Tundra part of addon and found a small glitch. The quest "Military? What Military?" has the not listed in current guide message, while it is listed in the guide. Didn't notice any typos/spelling errors, so not sure why this happens for this quest. Have a great weekend all!

Not on add-on list
I just started an Alliance character, to check out the other side, but when I try to load the guides, it isn't listed as an installed add-on. The Horde guide shows up, but not this one. Any suggestions?
Administrator
Hmmm, first check the FAQ
Hmmm, first check the FAQ page if you haven't already, this question is answered there.
One thing that is not mentioned there - check and make sure it's not inside a second folder, I think someone else had that problem. Basically, they had a "WowW-Pro Alliance" folder with another "WoW-Pro Alliance" folder inside, and inside *that* one were all the files. You need to have only one folder. I have absolutely no idea if this is the problem with your addon, just one idea.
Let me know if you try that and the things on the FAQ page, and I can try to help you troubleshoot further from there.
Error with the Death Knight add-on guide.
I just leveled to 55 and planned to make a Death Knight, but I've noticed while questing with my Death Knight, it doesn't show the arrow and it also gave me the error message in chat:
TourGuide:No zone provided, using current zone.
Can anyone tell me how to fix this.
Thanks heaps

Can't be fixed, it's due to
Can't be fixed, it's due to the death knight zone being weird. There should be detailed instructions provided in the text of each step to counteract this.
Oh ok, thanks for the help.

I just started in Grizzly
I just started in Grizzly Hills on the Alliance Guide and had some trouble with the arrow. It says to turn in Troll Season to Samir in Granite Springs. The arrow points to someplace in Ghostlands...I was halfway across the map before I realized it lol.
Great guide...really appreciate the time put into making it.

It's actually a problem with
It's actually a problem with Lighteheaded - there are two NPCs of the same name, and one is located in Ghostlands. The coords need to be hardcoded into that section of the addon, but unfortunately I don't usually deal with the Alliance side addon. Anyways thanks for letting us know about this issue and I'm glad you are enjoying the guide
Bug?
So far so good with the guide, its awesome! I'm lvl 71 and in 1 hour i got 1/2 to 72 but theres one small problem, the arrow add on is screwed up on the part of Thrassian, The Death Knight Quest. I don't have quest helper b/c it interfers or something I read.
But is this my add ons fault or is it a bug? If it is, it should be fixed b/c I lost some gold repairing my deaths on the temple place lol.
Why?
Why don't you bundle TomTom and TourGuide w/ the download? Also you said Jame is working on a guide addon? Will it be something similar to TourGuide?
Administrator
It's not bundled because
It's not bundled because then we would have to update the bundle every time tour guide, tom tom, and lightheaded were updated. Jame is not working on a separate addon, only on getting the tour guide version of his guides up to a very high quality.

Wrong coords
Found another small error. At the beginning of the Level 65 circuit the coordinates are incorrect for turning in What Are These Things. The coordinates (and Tom Tom arrow) say to turn it in at (64.10,41.10) and it should be turned in at Jenai Starwhisper in Allerian Stronghold(57.0, 53.3). I'm having a great time leveling with the addon! I would love to contribute, but I don't know enough about anything to help! lol. Keep up the great work all!

Lol. Thanks. I figure it's more helpful than posting crap that would be inaccurate or unnecessary.
Blade Edge's guide
Just wondering as to why the Blade edge's guide leaves with the quests at death's door or something alike along with another (can't remember even though I just checked like an hour ago ) I finished the guide 100% and automatically took to the Northrend one, which I believe is Borean Tundra.
Is this just me or is the guide acting wierd with me
Administrator
The ending of the Blade's
The ending of the Blade's Edge guide has been somewhat awkwardly coded. Since I don't play Alliance, I haven't had a chance to test it and fix it up properly. But anyway, it's nothing wrong with your computer/version of the guide, that's just how it is for now.
What to do?
What would you recommend me do? I'm at the 70-72 guide, should I do outlands from the guide in "print" or continue with NR? Any suggestions please
Administrator
If you are level 70, just
If you are level 70, just head over to Northrend. If you are 68-70, it's really up to you but I would recommend staying in Outland and following the "paper" guide.
Soothing spices no more
In the Hillsbrad (35-36) portion of Jame's Alliance Leveling Guide (30-40), the first step listed is to buy Soothing spices which are no longer in the game. The quest for the Soothing Turtle Bisque is correctly listed as not needing it, but that step to buy the spices is still there. I nearly pulled my hair out trying to find the spices before I looked it up and saw they were removed in 3.1. haha
When we can expect guide for
When we can expect guide for 77-80?

It might come eventually,
It might come eventually, but I wouldn't wait on it. Jame has been busy in RL for quite some time, and even when he returns, he has stated that the leveling addon is his priority for now.

Of Keys and Cage(s)
Just a quick error to report. The addon has quest as Of Keys and Cage, it should be Of Keys and Cages. Everything works fine, it just pulls up the message about the quest not being in your current guide. Nothing major, just wanted you to know! Love, love, love the addon!!!!!

Thanks!
Thanks for the heads up. I'll correct the problem and post it for the next revision.

Shaman Guide Error
I just started leveling my new shaman and I got sent on a wild goose chase when I went to turn in the quest All That Remains. I probably should have realized that I was to turn the quest in to the person I got it from, but I was busy and didn't, so the guide made me run and look all over the place for me to get up a hill just north of The Exodar (where the guide was telling me to go). Otherwise, although there are minor kinks, I love the guide.
no addon button?
I did exactly what you said to do, i downloaded them, put them in the add-ons folder, logged in, went to character select, and the addons button thing isnt there? ive copied/pasted and just moved the folders in there, but its still not working, help?
Administrator
Wait, are you telling me you
Wait, are you telling me you get no addon button at all on the character select screen? It should be in the lower lefthand corner. Or do you mean our guide isn't showing up on the list?
Found the problem
i noticed that inside the main foler u download, another folder with the dame/relative to the same name inside, i put the main folder u download in, i now put just the folder inside the main one at it works! my mistake!
