| 10 Secrets of a Successful Leveler
0 Changelog Intro: Hi, i have 4 level 70's, 2 60+'s and numerous alts all in there 30's/40's. I dont have an instane ammount to play, as i still have school and stuff, but i know how to level fast, and thats what im going to try and teach you here. This guide will teach you tips and strategies to avoid getting burned out and creating the spiral that is "altaholicism" BEGGINING NOTE 1. Pick a guide One note: Complete Grinding is not faster than questing, and most likely gets you burned out before you even get close to your desired level. It can take roughly 2 hours of grinding to go from 19-20, but i can quest that in 30 mins. The only exception to this is rouges, and shadowpriests, because with rogues you have 0 downtime and can just bandage up, and shadowpriests with high spirit have spirit tap to minimize downtime. Even though warriors can still bandage up, they kill things too slow to be viable grinders. An arms warrior going through his levels is going to take a good 10 or 15 secs more to kill his mobs to grind, and that adds up. fast. 2. Set goals for yourself 3. Take it slow, read the quest text 4. Listen to good music! Ok this is the part that really helps, more than the mods, more than the logical thinking, more than questing. This is what will help you keep your sanity when you play for hours on end, music. 1. DJ Tiesto Metal & Things of the Rock or Alternative Persuasion: 1. Sonata Arctica Ok so if you're not into that kind of music and preffer listening to some radio, look at http://www.wcradio.com, shows every day, good conversations and good music in the preshows and the music breaks, good for people that don't like listening to music all the time. (recommended by Hakker) Another good wow radio show is Taverncast, although they havent updated there podcasts in a while, they still are the funniest wow podcasters and have the best edited shows out of any free podcast out there. 5. Dont buy off the AH if you can avoid it 6. If you get bored, do something else! 7. Join a good guild! 8. Get a life! 9. Pick the right talents 10. Dont be afraid to explore! Closing: Well these are the ways that keep me from getting burned out while leveling, i really hope they can help you alot More about me: I have 4 level 70's on the Stomreaver server, my fastest time being 10 days 17 hours/played, and i have 2 60+'s on Zul'Jin server, where my fastest time to 60 was 5 days 2 hours /played, and i also have many other 40+ alts on that server that i still play time to time but were mostly the product of my former altaholcisim. Another class that has no time to wait between a mob and another is hunter.
But i think that in any case levelling by grinding can't be so fast as questing.
I see that almost the 80% of the xp i make is from turning quests in.
If played well, also a feral druid can have no time to wait, as he heals himsef, but he doesn't use mana to fight.

i have a question though, what does: altaholcisim or altoholcisim mean?
you name em a few times with 2 different types of spelling(i assume one miss spell)
but with both i searched google only to be returned to this website again xD
and 1 other site but now irrelevant
so im wondering if you could explain what that means. cause you make it sounds pretty bad ^^

Altoholic?
Altoholics are people that try and level many characters at a time, alternating between them or constantly making new characters as a distraction. Working on multiple characters can severely slow you down from reaching the higher levels, which is why it's a bad thing for WoW.

Fun to read.
This was one of the most fun-to-read guides I've ever read. Nice style.
Pretty good tips. I just
Pretty good tips. I just finished levelling my second 70 (using James' Alliance levelling guide), and I stuck by these same principles.
As for grinding vs. questing, though... as long as you are doing efficient quests, they are ALWAYS more efficient than grinding. If you're doing quests that tell you to kill X of this or kill these dudes until you get Y items, then you're getting non-stop grinding xp plus a bonus bit for quest completion at the end. Avoid the long drawn out quests that involve running all over the world, but never skip these great grinding quests.

agreed with all of it apart
agreed with all of it apart from the music section, I find that if I listen to too much "generic" DnB/trance I get bored really fast, so I play BrainDance instead (aphex twin, squarepusher, u-ziq, etc)
Good tips
They're all really good tips but you missed one out!
11. Always log out in an inn, so you get the rested EXP bonus. The 50% extra EXP only effects creature deaths, not quests. It helps in the long-shot.
Aside from that, these tips are really useful.
The rested exp bonus is 100%
The rested exp bonus is 100% btw
no its 50% im almost
no its 50% im almost possitive

While rested, you get double
While rested, you get double the XP per kill. If a mob would give you 500XP normally, with rested bonus it will give 1000XP. So it's 100%
That would be 200% Not 100%
That would be 200% Not 100% 100% would be normal exp.

It's a 100% bonus, that's what I mean ^^
