Here´s a question for all you people with hunter chars out there: Which are your favourite pets?
Personally I just love my elite wolf from the troll area in the Hinterlands. Great allround pet, especially since I´m BM specced. He tanks like a... tank, deals damage like crazy, and has tons of armor.
I tried to get Brokentooth when I was on that level, but just couldn´t stand the waiting. Since I´m doing PVE,I reasoned that the high attack speed just wasn´t worth the time expenditure.
Common, tell me what you prefer!

boars and cats are nice, but...
Boars and cats are nice, but the best pet of all would probably have to be a raptor. My raptor, BreakDancer, has done great DPS, holds agro, and is purple.
Now, I believe raptors can dash now, but I really don't know because I haven't logged on my hunter lately.

but i first used Ironjaw from 64-70, was a very good pet
Boars
I myself like boars, fast attackers, can hold aggro well and can charge, wich is a huge advantage in PvP when you want to tag a few targets and get the upperhand.
My Owl
As a Night Elf hunter, I tamed an owl to start with and still have it at level 70. I can just say that it is the best mate I've got during all my leveling stage. Decent damage and great aggro holder. Sometimes, I went to dungeons(pre-TBC ones) with two people and my owl as a tank. I'm also glad to say that the healers in my guild heal my owl with equal care.
I'm now leveling a Blood Elf hunter and traveled all the way to teldrassil to get the Owl. Happy to have one

I agree with everyone in
I agree with everyone in here that boars are probably the best all-around pets. Once in the Outlands, I don't believe there is another boar above 60. Since boars are good for PvE and PvP, it's good to tame one early.

I absolutely LOVE cats: not only do they look good but they are great at keeping aggro, have a very decent amount of HP and armor and are good DPSs. Though I have to admit, the best pet would definitely be a boar.

i also have a B.elf Hunter and at 24 i went to redridge mountains and got gorebelly (boar). he is the best non-elete boar and i kept him right up to 60.

Before Patch 2.0 I used a
Before Patch 2.0 I used a cat (moonstalker from Darkshore) but after the pet nerf (all pets attack at the same speed) I've found a boar to me more efficent in PvP and PvE (unless I'm in the arena with a rogue/druid, then I use Shadowmeld + Prowl (cat)).

On my Belf Hunter I made the long journey to Darkshore at lvl 20 to get the Ghost Cat spawn, took me about 3 hours of looting the figurines or w/e and he popped up and I tamed him. He's very difficult to tame much more so than other pets because everyone who tries to tame him says he takes 2+ tries to get him. But after I got him, I was one of the few people on the server with a transparent snow leopard ^^ And I've stuck with him til now and the char is lvl 51; but at 70 I may pick up a lynx from Netherstorm.

heh, I did the same (except I was alliance), and have never regretted it since then....of course, I don't use that char anymore, but for a pet, the Ghoststalker is awesome to have (would love to see it in prowl)
Hi i leveled a night elf
Hi i leveled a night elf hunter, this was my first character. i found it hard to keep to one pet but i used Petopia to search for pets i then tamed every pet i thought looked good. I now regret this so i recomend searching petopia and finding a pet that you like tame it and level it. And remember you can make a new slot for different types of pet i am now left with a boar, cat and a scorpion because of its poison!

i started out with a bear that i tamed at lvl 12. i kept him until lvl 40 something i guess.
a friend told me to swith over to the boar. i got one from WPL just outside of Strat. i have used him ever since adn highly recommend him for his charge attack. he is a pretty good tank for lvl 70 mobs also.
