Looking for a good server

I don't usually do this, usually I haunt forums for a while before posting, however I'm feeling impatient and decided to jump the gun.
Basically, I've been reading your guides, and they look sound. However I'm currently on the Tarren Mill server, which has never seemed excellent to me, and which I've been informed by various people is rubbish.
I was wondering then whether PVP or Normal servers are usually better? And whether anyone could suggest a different server for me to play on. Quite frankly, I don't feel like wasting any more of my time on a terrible server, but I was quite attached to my characters. However your guide has given me hope that I can start elsewhere and reach a decent level sometime before 2010.

it depends on what you'r looking for
By my side, pve sux... 40 men gather arround some lifeless numbers, pressing buttons 1.2.3 and having fun about... what ?
)
its like playing a warlock, press 1,2,3,4,5,6 then repeat 6
(life drain
u'll always win have nothing to care about and u are always on top, [BTW NERF THE DAMN WARLOCKS!!!!]
I mean, if u'r a healer for example, u press 1.2 then some absorption shields, and then drink mana pots, pointless with no adrenaline, u know everything about ur opponent, to easy to get dressed, and when ur raid is on cooldown(i mean not reseted yet) u dont have what to do....
If u wanna have fun, rush and etc play an undead mage on Twilight's Hammer server, balanced AH, there are many pve guilds, (u can be pve and then pvp when the raids not reseted) pretty balanced player and many gnomes to smash
all players have a lot of money there, u will take everything u need with G pretty fast, for example Wool cloths are on 7G now maybe cause of the gold sellers-buyers, u will sell ur mats expensive, buy some others expensive but when it is for mounts-enchants-gigantique bags, its gonna be pretty easy...
If u want pve, then make an alliance on Turalyon server, i play there, great AH, many pve guilds, easy to lvl once it is a normal server, pretty easy to find a pve guild, BUT, the battlegroup is cyclone, (i dont remember name i think this is the right one) the same as Stormscale and etc, the best pvp server, this means that u are gonna be kicked in bg's arenas, lots of famous play there such as Chrille-nivara Agramon noone Acrono and etc.....
with my mage, we loose ALL THE TIME in bg's the only way to win a bg, is if the horde's cast all the same skill............ hearthstone......
i suggest twilights hammer, u'll love it, now its up on u...
cya, have fun, good luck

Please, for the love of God,
Please, for the love of God, don't join Ghostlands US. We are overpopulated, have no AH stability, and the Alliance Horde Ratio is like Stormrage US in the past. The raiding guilds are weak; none of us can beat Kael. We suck, so don't bother xD.

Aggramar
Im on Aggramar (Normal), and its alright. It has a medium-high population now, but from my freinds that have transferred from some of the bigger pvp servers, Laughing Skull and Sargerus... the Economy is aweseome. Of course I still havent figured out how to make huge amounts of gold

If you're looking for a good realm...
If you're looking for a good Normal realm, Azuremyst is not the place to be- for alliace anyway. It's okay- not the best server in the world, but its a decent one. I'd recommend you go to The Underbog for PvP or Kahz Modan for PvE.
if you play alliance and
if you play alliance and want a good pvp challenge then join blackwing lair. we have a major alliance shortage and its basicly a pvp server filled with horde
pleeeeze join blackwing lair, we need more alliance players
Deathwing AH sucks
I am currently leveling a tauren warrior on Deathwing. Its a blast, I get jumped when I least expect it, and jump people if I get the chance.
BUT: AH sucks on deathwing! There is no turnover whatsoever, and nothing cool ever gets dropped in there. I have farmed and farmed for gold, selling skins and whatever... and have nothing to spend it on!
Now I onder if this is a general problem with PvP servers, or is it an isolated thing?

It might be general but I'm not sure
Your problem with the AH on your server might be contained to just that server but at the same time I'm not all to sure.
All my characters are on the smolderthorne pvp realm but I have others on various realms that have run across the same AH problems your having.
My best advice to you is to just save what gold you get and farm the AH maybe you'll get lucky one day.
If that doesn't work you might wanna consider transfering to to a realm with better Auction houses.
Good Luck

Shu'Halo
I noticed another poster was on Shu'Halo. I transferred for free as well when my original server was too full. It was a complete culture shock in the beginning - the server was literally empty most of the time and very difficult to get Pup groups but I began solo'ng and discovered these guides and now the server is quite nice and late at night its unbelieveable. I actually can farm for gold for my mount at the places posted and they aren't completely swamped. I love this sever and highly recommend it. You can even join my guild the House of the Phoenix

What kind of realm is it? I mean is it like PvP, PvE, RP or a combo of all the above??
I have never played in a pve server before that's why I'm asking ??

PVP is awesome
Having tried both PVP and PVE servers i have to admit that you miss part of the game when you dont play on a PVP server.
It adds a lot of excitement to the game, and at higher levels is a blast.
What i did is i leveled a character on a very low population PVP server, then when i hit 70 and grinded what i needed, i transferred to a medium-high population for better raiding/PVP experience.
FYI Balnazzar (US) is a great low population server to level on.

Personally I enjoy PvE
Personally I enjoy PvE servers because I'm not a big supporter of the whole Ally vs Horde thing. I've always respected good players and helped them no matter their faction. My server is now almost full and the thing that annoys me most is the HUGE amount of gold sellers. Not only do they spam say and trade in Stormwind and Orgrimmar, they also whisper and they even use the Looking for Group channel! The only thing good is that my auctions sell really fast!

Ursin (PvP)
Ursin (which is a PvP) realm has a decent population (always can get into BG's/arenas within a couple of minutes, AH is fine, good A:H ratio) and no real ganking in most places (STV excluded). I would have probably prefered a RPPvP realm, but I don't know how people can play Normal realms. Random PvP is so exciting

Although it isn't an option,
Although it isn't an option, I would prefer to move to a RPPVP server. You have literate people willing to have fun while you have the PvP factor.
I've heard of normal and RP servers, like Moonglade RP with some talented PvP. The same goes for PvE. Magtherderon has the best PvE guide in EU there.
It's just about preference, really.

Which is better
Well first off leveling isn't all that bad. Using this guide, and trust me when I say my ADHD comes out when leveling, I was able to do 2-3 levels a day in the 50s. Mind you I doubt I'll ever do it again, but it is feasible.
So the important part; I can't answer it for you but I can give observations.
For starters I've made over 5 characters on various servers due to real life friends recruiting me, and the best one I've played on is Crushridge Alliance. This may be because it's with a lot of friends, but I also meet a lot of people through it and the PvP scene is great.
Now the thing is whether or not to go PvP. If you want to raid for ever then go with normal. If you want to raid and PvP do PvP. However if you want just mess around with the arena then normal is the way to go because I know the top mage on my server and he devotes a lot of time to being so.
Personally I enjoy the PvP, but the ganking can get terrible so keep that in mind.

I'm on Shu'Halo
I transferred for free when my original server got too populated. It was rough at first because it was virtually empty but now its quite nice and the AH is hopping but its never crowded and late at night its empty. I tend to solo and it is a normal server but I've been on it now since February 07 and I'm a happy camper. I don't like PVP and I hate being gank'd

50% each to me
I'd like normal servers because of not getting ganked quite as much but them when you get to 70 you can't have the fun of going around ganking unless you pay $25 to get a transfer.
Idk if you can even switch types of servers through transfer but you prolly can.
I currently play Arthas
I currently play Arthas (PvP) Horde.
The server is high population.
There is never more than a 300 person queue at peak hours (About 5 minutes wait ... this is like 6-11ish EST on weekends)
Population is 1:1.8 (Alliance:Horde)
Economy is good, activity is good, people are good.
Re: PvP vs. Normal servers ... I don't quite know what you mean by 'better'

Nordrassil is quite nice
Nordrassil is quite nice with a decent population (not too much but enough to keep the AH going). It's a normal server though, so not sure if you'd like that. Personally I'm not that much into random pvp and prefer leveling in peace. But in the end it's all up to you and what you like to do most of course.

ditto~
im on this server also..nice people good fun, and i never seem to have a problem ganking anyone even though its PvE
Chromaggus been going 'round
Chromaggus been going 'round quite ok, my AH sales go like mad, tho many more hordes than alliance.
I easily made my first gold through copper 2.50 a stack
for the rest... I call Chromaggus The Old Lady, and she does live up to her name with a few disconnects now and then, but I take them with love.
