Alliance Leveling Guide 20-30

Introduction

This is a detailed, in depth guide on leveling an Alliance character from level 20 to level 30. It is focused on questing rather than grinding, though some parts you may be asked to grind. This guide will lead into Jame’s Alliance Leveling Guides and those will bring you all the way to level 70.

Useful Addons

  • Titan Panel: Great mod that allows you to keep track of your inventory, money, and experience easily. It also shows (X,Y) coordinates that are frequently used in this guide.

  • Cartographer: Awesome map mod that has a lot of cool features, particularly, a fully explored world map that is very helpful for everyone, especially beginners.

  • Quest Level: Simple mod that shows the level of a quest in your quest log.
I'm going to take this part from Jame's guide because he does a good job of explaining it:
In case you don't know how to install add-ons, make a folder called Interface in your World of Warcraft directory (if it doesn't exist already). Then you open it and create a folder called Addons inside the Interface folder (if it doesn't exist already). Now every Addon you want to install goes directly into the Addon folder. For example you download and unzip Titan Panel, you drag the folder called TITAN PANEL (not Interface or Addons) into the new Addon folder you created. You restart World of Warcraft completely and it should be working.
If it isn't you might need to log out to your login screen and click on "Addons" in the left lower corner. Tick the box that says "Load out of date Addons". Relaunch WoW.

Basic Rules

  1. Spend your talent points so you do the most damage possible. (e.g: Priest should specialize in Shadow Talents, Warriors in Arms/Fury, Rogues Combat/Assassination, etc. The exception to this is paladins, they level greatly with a prot spec).
  2. Don't waste your time trying to find groups for questing. You can solo everything that is described in this guide unless I say otherwise. Only group with someone when it's not gonna be a waste of time (e.g: meeting the person at the other end of the map to show him the way to where your quest is, that is a waste of time)
  3. Always log out in an inn or in one of the major cities when you take a break. This gives you rested experience which makes it twice as easy to level.
  4. Don’t take a quest that I do not list in the guide. If I don't mention a quest, it means I consider it a waste of time, so don't take it thinking I forgot a quest here and there, I didn't. Also don't abandon a quest unless I say you should.
  5. Always pay attention where I tell you to set your Hearthstone and don’t change it unless I say so. When I say you should bind somewhere (make an inn your home location), it's for a good reason, and it will save you much time.

Color Code

  • Purple: Names of NPC's
  • Red: Names of Mobs
  • Teal: Areas (towns, cities, etc.)
  • Blue: Quests
  • Orange: Items
  • Green: Coordinates
  • Black: Starting of a new session/important Notes/levels
All these things will be colored so they're easy to spot and also bold.

Shopping List

  • Bronze Tube: For the quest [25] Look to the Stars in section XIX. Level 27b
  • Bags: Extremely valuable for holding your loot.
Try to get these as soon as possible and store it in your bank until you need it when the guide tells you to get it.

Table of Conents

This is all of the sections in the guide in order. Use the find feature (ctrl+f) and type in the section you want to view. For example, typing in I. Level 20a will bring you to that section of the guide.

The Guide

I. Level 20a

First you’ll need to get to the city of Stormwind. If you don’t have the flight path here get it. Do what you need to here (train, sell, etc.) and leave the town through the south gate when you’re ready. Follow the road until you get to Goldshire. Once here, head down the eastern road. Keep going until you come to a tower on the left side of the road (64,68). Go inside and get the quest [21] A Watchful Eye from Theocritus at the top. Head back to the road and continue east until you come to Redridge Mountains.

Keep going and you’ll come to the town Lakeshire. Get the flight path in front of the bridge. Cross the bridge and get the quest [18] The Price of Shoes from Verner Osgood.

Fly to Stormwind and head to Goldshire again. Turn in your quest to Smith Argus. Get the follow-up and return to Stormwind. Then fly to Lakeshire.

Cross the bridge and get the following quests:

  • [21] Blackrock Menace from Marshall Marris
  • [20] The Everstill Bridge from Foreman Oslow
  • [18] Underbelly Scales from Verner Osgood (becomes the follow-up after turning in your current quest to him)
  • [20] A Baying of Gnolls from Verner Osgood
  • [21] Selling Fish from Dockmaster Baren
  • [20] Murloc Poachers from Dockmaster Baren
Head inside the inn and set your Hearthstone here.

II. Level 20b

From now on kill any Black Dragon Whelp you come across.

1. Head east out of town to the lake. You’ll immediately come across a murloc camp (40,45). Murlocs are all around this area in the water. Kill them until you complete [21] Selling Fish and [20] Murloc Poachers.

2. Head north along the road until you see a dirt path on your left leading to a gnoll camp (38,32). Kill these guys until you finish [20] A Baying of Gnolls and [20] The Everstill Bridge. You can also head northwest into the mountains for more to kill (in fact you may need to for more mystics).

3. Head back to the road and follow it northeast to Render’s Camp at (44,18). Since we can’t go further into the camp because of the higher levels, we’re going to do a triangle between three spots until we finish [18] Underbelly Scales and [21] Blackrock Menace. Once you killed all the orcs here, head south to (42,32) and kill Black Dragon Whelps around this area. Once you killed them all, head southwest to (39,40) and kill the Blackrock Orcs here. Head between the three coordinates, (44,18), (42,32), and (39,40), until you finish your 2 quests.

4. Head back to Lakeshire and turn in your 6 quests (turn in [18] Underbelly Scales to Verner Osgood first because at level 21 it become green and we want to most experience for it). Get the follow-up for [20] A Baying of Gnolls called [21] Howling in the Hills.

III. Level 21a

1. Head north to the mountains where the gnolls are (27,21). Yowler is here in a camp with two others. Kill him and take his paw.

2. Return to Lakeshire and turn in your quest. Head across the bridge and follow the road until you get to a crossroad (15,71). Take the southern road until you get to Duskwood.

IV. Level 21b

1. Keep following the road until you get to the town of Darkshire. Once here, get the flight path and set your Hearthstone to the inn. Head across the road (sort of) to a big, house-like building. Get the quests [20] Raven Hill and [23] Deliveries to Sven from Elaine Carevin.

2. Follow the road south out of town. Continue following it until you get to a group of NPCs (45,66). Get the quest [21] Eight Legged Menaces from Watcher Dodds.

3. Continue along the road west until you get to Raven Hill (18,56). Turn in your quest to Jitters and get the follow-up.

From now on kill any Pygmy Venom Web Spiders you see.

4. Head to a camp northwest of you at (7,33). Turn in your quest to Sven Yorgen and get the follow-up. Also get the quest [21] Wolves at Our Heels from Lars.

Kill any Starving Dire Wolf and Rabid Dire Wolf you come across

5. Head east to (27,31) where you’ll find a small shack. Get the quest [24] Supplies from Darkshire from Ambercrombie inside.

6. Finish [21] Wolves at Our Heels and return to the camp to turn it in.

7. Head south while finishing [21] Eight Legged Menaces and also getting 6 Gooey Spider Legs. Once done with that, head east along the road until you get to the small group of NPCs at (45,66) and turn in your quest. Then hearth to Darkshire.

8. In Darkshire, turn in your quest to Chef Grual and get the follow-up. Head outside and turn in your quest to Madame Eva. Get the follow-up. Head outside and get the quest [24] The Night Watch from Commander Althea Ebonlocke. You should definitely be Level 22 by now. Fly to Stormwind.

Note: Don’t sell your [b]Gooey Spider Legs you have gotten before. You need them for a quest.

Sell junk, repair, re-stock food/drink, and train.

When you’re ready, fly back to Darkshire.

V. Level 22a

1. Head southeast to (81,59) and turn in your quest to Blind Mary and get the follow-up.

2. Go south to The Tranquil Gardens Cemetery at (79,70). Kill the mobs here until you finish [24] The Night Watch.

3. Return to Darkshire and turn in your 3 quests but don’t get the follow-ups. Get the quest [25] Seasoned Wolf Kabobs from Chef Grual inside the inn as well.

VI. Level 22b

Fly to Stormwind.

Sell junk, repair, re-stock food/drink.

Head to the western district called the Mage Quarter. Make a left once you enter this district until you see Collin Mauren standing on your left on the raised sidewalk (43,80). Get his quest [26] Retriveal for Mauren. When you’re ready, take the tram to Ironforge. Fly to Thelsmar, Loch Modan (or walk there if you don’t have the flight path and get it once there). Once there, follow the main road north until you get to a tunnel in the mountains. Get the quest [21] The Algaz Gauntlet from Mountaineer Rockgar in front of it. Head through the tunnel.

VII. Level 22c

1. This will bring you to The Wetlands. Go through the next tunnel where you’ll find some orcs to your left side (48,74). Start killing these guys until you get this kills you need for [21] The Algaz Gauntlet. Keep going through the next 2 tunnels (upon which receiving the Traverse Dun Algaz (complete) message). Welcome to The Wetlands, one of my personal favorite zones Smiling.

2. Keep following this main road until you get to a crossroads where you’ll see Einar Stonegrip (49,39). Get his quest [21] Daily Delivery and continue on the road.

3. Eventually you’ll come to the town of Menethil Harbor. Get the following quests here:

  • [24] In Search of The Excavation Team from Tarrel Rockweaver (on the bridge leading into town)
  • Turn in your quest to Valstag Ironjaw inside the keep
  • [20] Fiora Longears from Red Jack Flint
  • [22] Young Crocolisk Skins from James Halloran (turn in your quest to him as well)
  • [22] Claws from the Deep from Karl Boran
  • [21] The Greenwarden from First Mate Fitzsimmons
  • [24] Digging Through the Ooze from Sida
Get the flight path and head to the inn. Set your Hearthstone here.

VIII. Level 22d

From now on kill any Young Wetlands Crocolisk you come across.

1. Once you’re ready, head north out of town until you get to some murloc camps (15,41). At (17,39) you’ll find Gobbler. Kill him and loot his head then kill the rest of the Bluegill Murlocs you need for [22] Claws from the Deep.

2. Head east along the road, killing Crocolisks along the way. At about (33,38), you should see an opening in the mountains to the south. Go through it to Whelgar’s Excavation Site. To your left will be a path leading up the mountain. Follow this until you get to a small camp of NPCs. Get the quest [24] Ormer’s Revenge from Ormer Ironbraid outside the cave. Turn in your quest to Merrin Rockweaver inside the cave and get the follow-up.

3. Head out of this area and continue east along the main road. Go to (56,40) where you’ll find Rethiel the Greenwarden. Turn in your quest and get the follow-up [21] Tramping Paws.

4. Head southeast to (62,70) where you’ll find a bunch of gnolls. Kill here until you finish [21] Tramping Paws.

5. Return to Rethiel the Greenwarden and turn in your quest as well as grab the follow-up. This should make you Level 23 if you’re not already.

IX. Level 23a

1. Head northwest to (44,34). Here you’ll find Black Oozes. Kill them until you get Sida’s Bag.

2. Head south to (38,29) where you’ll find some more gnolls. Kill these guys until you get 9 Crude Flints.

3. Return to Rethiel the Greenwarden and turn in your quest. Get the follow-up.

4. Head southwest a ways back toward the excavation site is. Don’t go inside but instead, move west of the mountains where you’ll find a lot of raptors (25,47). Kill the Mottled Raptors and Mottled Screechers here until you complete [24] Ormer’s Revenge. A hint for the screechers: they call for help so if any other raptor is near them they’ll attack you too. Be sure to pull these guys away from any other raptor before you kill them.

5. Head back up to the excavation site in the mountains at (38,51) and turn in your quest to Ormer Ironbraid. Get the follow-up.

6. Return to Menethil Harbor and turn in your 4 quests but don’t get the follow-ups. This should bring you at least half way to Level 24.

Sell junk, repair, re-stock food/drink.

When you’re ready, head out to the northern dock on the shore (that would be the dock on the right when facing them). Wait for the boat that will take you to Auberdine, Darkshore. Hop on it when it arrives.

X. Level 23b

Once there, walk down the pier toward town. Turn in your quest to Fiora Longears along the way and get the follow-up. Get the flight path in town and follow the main road south. Keep going until you get to the zone, Ashenvale.

XI. Level 23c

1. Head south until you get to Maestra’s Post (26,38). Get the quest [20] Bathran’s Hair from Orendil Broadleaf.

2. Head south along the main road and keep following it until you get to the town of Astranaar. Get the flight path and turn in your quest to Shindrell Swiftfire next to it. Get the follow-up from her [19] The Zoram Strand. Go to the building across the road and get the two quests [21] On Guard in Stonetalon and [25] A Helping Hand. Head inside the inn and get the two quests from Raene Wolfrunner. Set your Hearthstone here.

XII. Level 23d

1. Head west out of town to (31,46) where you should see a path leading north. Follow this path clearing your way to (34,37). You should see Dal Bloodclaw wondering around this area. Kill him and loot his skull.

2. Head northwest out of the mountains until you get to some undead (31,22). Look for the bags on the ground called Plant Bundles. Loot them until you finish [20] Bathran’s Hair.

3. Head southwest to The Zoram Strand (13,26). Once there kill Wrathtail Wave Riders until you get 20 Wrathtail Heads.

4. Head southeast to (20,42). Go to the island in the middle of the small lake. Turn in your quest to the corpse there and get the follow-up. Now kill the Saltspittle Warriors around here until you get Glowing Gem.

5. Head northeast to Maestra’s Post and turn in your quest. Get the follow-up and head to Astranaar.

6. Turn in all your quests and get the follow-ups. This should make you Level 24. If not, just go on with the next circle. You may fly to Darnassus or Exodar to train you new skills (closest trainer for Warlocks is all the way in Ratchet so you need to go there or all the way back to Ironforge). When you’re ready, return to Astranaar and head southeast out of town until you get to Talondeep Path (43,71). Follow this tunnel all the way through to Stonetalon Mountains.

XIII. Level 24a

1. Head southwest here until you get to a small building next to the mountains (58,62). Inside, talk to Ziz Fizziks and get his quest [21] Super Reaper 6000.

2. Head out of this valley area and northwest on the main road. Not just around a bend you’ll see a small Alliance camp (59,66). Turn in your quest to Kaela Shadowspear and get the follow-up. Turn this quest in to Gaxim Rustfizzle right next to you. Get the follow-up [21] A Gnome’s Respite.

From now on kill any Young Pridewing you see along the way.

3. Head northeast into the valley again. Keep going until you get to some Venture Co. guys. Kill the Venture Co. Loggers and Venture Co. Deforesters as you make your way to (62,52). Here you’ll find Venture Co. Operators. Kills these guys until one of them drops Super Reaper 6000 Blueprints. Continue to kill Venture Co. Loggers, generally around (62,54), and Venture Co. Deforesters, generally around (65,53), until you finish [21] A Gnome’s Respite.

4. Head back to Ziz Fizziks and turn in your quest to him. Don’t get the follow-up.

5. Return to the Alliance camp a little further up the hill. Turn in your quest but don’t take the follow-ups.

6. Get on the main road and follow it north. You’ll soon come to Mirkfallon Lake (45,46) and (50,43). In these two spots you’ll find Pridewings all around the lake. Kill them until you complete [21] Pridewings of Stonetalon.

7. Get back on the main road and head southwest to The Charred Vale (32,66). Start killing Blackened Basilisks until you complete [26] Retrieval for Mauren.

XIV. Level 24b

1. Hearthstone to Astranaar. Head southeast until you get to some Foulweald camps (50,61). Clear the guys here. If you haven’t quite finished [24] An Aggressive Defense after you kill everything, don’t worry because we’re coming back later.

2. Head south to Silverwind Refuge (50,67). Get the quest [24] Elemental Bracers from Sentinel Velene Starstrike inside.

Sell junk, repair, re-stock food/drink.

3. Jump into the lake directly south of you. Kill the Befouled Water Elementals here until you get 5 Intact Elemental Bracers from one of them. Once you have them, use your Divining Scroll.

4. Return to Silverwind Refuge and turn in your quest. Do not get the follow-up.

5. Head north to the Foulweald camp and finish [24] An Aggressive Defense.

6. Get back on the main road and head east. Eventually you’ll come to a small town on the northern side of the road called Forest Song (87,45). Turn in your quest to Architect Nemos. Don’t get any of the quests here, just the flight path. Fly to Astranaar.

By now you should be level 25 or close to it. Turn in your 2 quests here.

Sell junk, repair, re-stock food/drink.

XV. Level 25a

1. East of Astranaar along the main road you’ll find a small path leading north. Follow this to Iris Lake (46,46) and grab one of the Elune’s Tears on the island in the middle of the lake.

2. Head east out of this area through the hills ahead of you (it’s very easy to get down them) and then head northeast. You’ll come to a moonwell where you’ll find Shael’dryn (53,46). Turn in your quest and get the follow-up.

3. Get out of this area and return to Astranaar. Turn in your quest here and get the follow-up. Fly to Auberdine and take the boat to Menethil Harbor.

Once in Menethil Harbor grab the following quests:

  • [25] Reclaiming Goods from Karl Boran
  • [26] Apprentice’s Duties from James Halloran
  • [25] Fall of Dun Modr from Harlo Barnaby
  • [26] Report to Captain Stoutfist from Valstag Ironjaw (which you turn in at the top floor of the keep)
  • [26] War Banners from Captain Stoutfist (follow-up of previous)
  • [27] The Third Fleet from First Mate Fitzsimmons
Once you done with that, head inside the inn and buy a Flagon of Mead as well as set your Hearthstone here. Turn in your quest to First Mate Fitzsimmons just outside but don’t get the follow-up. Do what you need to here before we leave.

XVI. level 25b

1. Head to Whelgar’s Excavation Site and up the hill to the camp. Get the quest [28] Uncovering the Past from Prospector Whelgar and head down into the actual site. From now on kill Mottled Scytheclaws and Mottled Razormaws along the way as you finish this quest. You’ll see these things on the ground that are either jars, loose soil, or small tomb-like structures. These are hard to map as they spawn all over the place so just look for them while finishing your other quest.

Once you finish [27] Ormer’s Revenge (it’s okay if you didn’t finish [28] Uncovering the Past, we’re coming right back to the site), head back to the camp and turn in your quest. Get the follow-up and head to the western side of this small valley. At about (31,38) you’ll see a path leading up into the mountains. Follow this up and around until you get to the top ledge. Here you’ll see Sarltooth. He’s level 29 but a pretty easy kill. If you don’t think you can kill him, leave him for now and come back later. The reason we came up here anyway is to see if there is another fragment we can get. If you killed him, get his claw. Finish [28] Uncovering the Past and return to the camp. Turn in your 1 (or 2) quest(s).

From now on kill any Giant Wetlands Crocolisk and Fen Creeper you encounter

2. Leave this area and head east until you see some Dragonmaw Orcs on your right. Make your way into Angerfang Encampment at (43,43) and kill the orcs here until you complete [26] War Banners.

3. Once done with that, head northwest into the swamps until you come to a small house with a windmill (26,25). Around this house (typically to around the northern side) you’ll find Giant Wetlands Crocolisks and Fen Creepers. Make wide semi-circles around the northern side of the house until you finish [26] Apprentice’s Duties and [26] Blisters on The Land (the Fen Creepers are invisible and roam only in the water so you’ll have to look for them).

4. Head southeast to Rethiel the Greenwarden at (56,40). Turn in your quest to him.

5. Hearth to Menethil Harbor and head north to Bluegill Marsh. Go to the camp at (13,41) and turn in your quest to the Damaged Crate there. Get the follow up and head to the camp just north of you (13,38). Turn in your quest to the sealed barrel and get the follow-up. Head to the camp north of you and turn in your quest there (13,34). Get the follow-up and go to Menethil Harbor.

6. Turn in you 3 quests but don’t get the follow-up. This should make you over Level 26. Fly to Ironforge.

XVII. Level 25c

Sell junk, repair, re-stock food/drink, and train.

Take the tram to Stormwind. By now you should have your Bronze Tube so grab that out of your bank or wherever. Head to the trade district from the old town but don’t enter the actual district. After crossing the bridge to the trade district, make a left here and head to the end of the wall of the trade district. Here you’ll find the shop Fragrant Flowers (64,60). Head inside and buy Stormwind Seasoning Herbs from Felicia Gum. Now go to the Mage’s Quarter and turn in your quest to Collin Mauren. Once that’s done, fly to Lakeshire.

Get the following quests from here:

  • [25] Blackrock Bounty from Guard Howe (right next to you)
  • [23] Shadow Magic from Marshal Marris
  • [25] Tharil’zun from Marshal Marris
  • [26] Wanted: Gath’llzogg from wanted poster in front of town hall
  • [23] Solomon’s Law from Bailiff Conacher (inside town hall)
  • [26] Wanted: Lieutenant Fangore from wanted poster in front of inn
  • [24] An Unwelcome Guest from Martie Jainrose (west side of town)
From where you’re at, head west out of town until you see Bellygrub (16,49). Kill him, loot his tusk, then turn in the quest just east of you. Set your Hearthstone here.

Sell junk, repair, re-stock food/drink.

Look in you quest log to make sure you still have a quest we got in the beginning called [21] A Watchful Eye. If not, refer to the beginning on how to get it.

XVIII. Level 26a

1. Head northeast along the main road into the mountains. Take the left path once the road falls apart to get to Render’s Camp (35,9). Kill any Blackrock Champion you see as you make your way to the back where you’ll find a cave. Enter and go down the left side and make your way to the bottom. Here you’ll find Corporal Keeshan (28,12). He is an escort quest where you’ll have to follow him and protect him while he gets out of the cave. So kill the rest of the Blackrock Champions you need for the quest then take his quest and start following him. The mobs here are close together so always try to make the pull your self. Once outside the cave, he’ll stop to rest. At this point you need to pull the camps. So start with the one on your right and make the best pull, then repeat with the left. Otherwise, he’ll just charge in and aggro everything. From there he’ll go straight to Lakeshire.

Sell junk, repair, re-stock food/drink.

Start trying to find a group to do [25] Tharil’zun and [26] Wanted: Gath’llzogg. If you do, skip to step 5. After you’re done, come back to finish the other steps. If you don’t find a group, do the steps in order until number 5. At number 5, finish the quest [23] Shadow Magic and skip the killing of the two other guys. The missing exp. won’t kill you and you’ll be able to make it up.

2. Get back on the main road and head northeast. This time, when you get to the fork, head east. Keep going until you come to some gnoll camps. Kill any of them you see as you make your way to Lieutenant Fangore (80,38). Kill him and loot his paw.

3. Head south until you see a lion statue next to the mountain (84,46). Turn in your quest to it and get the follow-up.

4. Continue to kill gnolls and head west. You’ll soon come to some orcs along the road. You need to go to the tower on the right side (63,50). Make your way to the top of the tower, being careful not to get extras. At the top, turn in your quest to the jar on top of a barrel.

5. Head out of the tower and go down the left road this time. This will bring you to a keep (67,55). Kill the orcs out front and gather the Midnight Orbs from the Blackrock Shadowcasters. Once the front is clear, make a sharp left at the wall toward the back and clear the orcs here. In this area you’ll find Tharil’zun along with 3 or 4 other mobs. Kill him and loot his head. Back out of this area toward the keep and head inside. At the top you’ll find Gath’llzogg along with 2 other mobs and another elite. Kill him and loot his head. If you haven’t finished [23] Shadow Magic, do so before you leave.

If you haven’t finished [23] Solomon’s Law do so now by killing the gnolls. Step 6 and 7 are a little hard and are optional.

6. Return to the lion statue and get the quest [26] Morganth from it.

7. Head to the tower west of you just across the road (79,49). Make your way to the top where you’ll find Morganth. Kill him and loot his Pendant of Shadow. Now hearth to Lakeshire.

Turn in all of your quests here (those who did [26] Morganth, head west into Elwynn Forest to the Tower of Azora (65,69) and turn in your quest to Theocritus).

Sell junk, repair, re-stock food/drink.

When you’re done, fly to Darkshire.

In Darkshire, grab the following quests:

  • [25] Look To The Stars from Viktori Prism’Antras (turn it in with the Bronze Tube and get the follow-up)
  • [28] The Legend of Stalvan from Madame Eva
  • [25] The Totem of Infliction from Madame Eva
  • [24] Deliver the Thread from Madame Eva
  • [28] Worgen in the Woods from Calor
  • [26] The Night Watch from Commander Althea Ebonlocke
  • [28] The Legend of Stalvan from Clerk Daltry (after turning in your quest to him, this becomes the follow-up)
  • [20] Return to Jitters from Chef Grual
Sell junk, repair, re-stock food/drink.

Set your Hearthstone here. You should now be Level 27.

XIX. Level 27a

Also look for Tainted Wood around the area (as in picture below) until you get 5 of them.

Awesome guide!

Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed using your guide - travelling to different areas made the levelling so much more interesting than past character levelling I've done. Great job!

I'm not very familiar with Alliance quests so this may or may not matter.

Wowhead says a lot of things.

Just because I read on Wikipedia that Saddam Hussein was the chairman of a social club for elderly people and that he and Obama was close friends with the Teletubbies before Saddam's tragic heart-attack in 1843, does not make this right.

But then again, perhaps this quest really has been removed.

Corrections

Quote:
The quest says that you should be able to take a ship from Menethil to reach Fiora. This is incorrect. As of patch 3.0.3 (Wrath of the Lich King) the ship that used to go to Auberdine has been removed. In order to get to Auberdine, you need to take a ship from Stormwind Harbor (also added 3.0.3). This is a known issue with the quest text. It is unknown when Blizzard will clarify the text.
As of patch 3.3, Red Jack Flint is unresponsive. A Game Master stated that the quest had been removed.

thanks

I was looking for the quest fiora longears and was geting really frustrated. Now I know to just move on.

The guide is working pretty

The guide is working pretty well although it needs to be updated for the boat paths. I know at the top of the page it says that it's been updated but it still has me going to the wetlands in order to go to auberdine. Other than that it's a good guide.

At the end of 29a, you have

At the end of 29a, you have it so you fly to stormwind, take the boat to auberdine, and then fly to astrannar. Wouldn't it be faster to take the boat in the wetlands to Thereamore, get the flight path there, and then fly to astrannar? Also, you get an extra flight point that you dont have to take time getting to if you level there.

Blackrock Orc's

The Blackrock Orc's give me grief Jawdropping! every time I go near them and have a hell of a time to kill them off. Maybe the suggestion of "YOU NEED A FRIEND" might help as at the early stages of Redridge they simply kick serious butt and truely make you want to go else where. Ther are a few other low level quest that seem to be a little overwhelming as well that could have the same mention

Should be said that in

Should be said that in section Level 27b, the quest Seasoned Wolf Kabobs has a requirement of lvl 50 cooking to be available. So far so good though, thanks for the guide.

Culling the threat

Just adding corrections as I find them in case you can update Maw.

At Level 23c Boston forgets to tell us to pick up Culling the Threat - was annoying to get all the way to Bloodclaw only to realise quest was sitting in Astranaar without me!

Edit same for Raene's Cleansing - also needs to be picked up before leaving town

Actually he does have it in

Actually he does have it in there. The guide says to "get the two quests from Raene Wolfrunner".

Amazing!!

I'm amazed how easy Maws first two guides led right into this I'm now level 26 and I just finished 22b is this good or bad? Jawdropping!

( P.S. Should i just skip ahead to find my right area?)

Love These Guides!!

Jiyambi's picture

If the quests start turning

If the quests start turning gray on you, skip ahead. If you get bored or don't like an area, skip ahead. Otherwise, don't - doing lower level quests isn't bad, you finish them quicker so it makes up for any less XP you get from the monsters.

Great Update

Hey Maw, just like to say a great update you did to this guide, it is so much more clearer now!

Maybe if you had time, have a go at the 12-20 one? That would be awesome !

Great guide aswell, just a few typos here and there. Otherwise, I have used it 4 times and still plan to use it again!

Regards,

Thalcorn

just a couple small things :)

1. If you're going to tell us to go to an area (take going to Forest Song in 24b), tell us to take both delivery quests, especially if it's just a delivery quest.

2. When you tell us not to take the follow-ups, but tell us to do the quests later, make sure to tell us we need to take the quests you previously told us not to take. Noticed a lot of that during the lvl 24ish area.

Otherwise, amazing guide. Smiling

NOTE=yowler

you say theres only 2 things by him but thats not true all the time i went there and there were 2 more but then 1 left and there were 3 i killed him but then i got aggroed cus i had to get another one so i just looted his paw real fast and got it so before you kill him kill EVERYONE around yowler expect his 2 people if you can without aggroging him then yeah... if you can stick it in the guide then thatd be great!

That poor dying girl...

Whatever happened to the quests in Ashenvale to help the sick Night Elf girl? The Ruins of Stardust and Fallen Sky Lake, that is. Both those quests are quite short and could easily be done in the last Ashenvale section (TRoS is right beside Astranaar, and FSL is very close to point "3" on the last Ashenvale map). All it'd really take is one short flight back to Astranaar after the return to Forest Song.

Worgen in the Woods

First I'd like to say thanks for making this great guide, and not only making it, but making it for free.

But I had one thing to say about the quest, Worgen in the Woods I was two levels ahead of the guide when I went to go complete this quest and I found the mobbing of the Nightbanes absolutely horrible. Even two levels above the recommended guide level also having the benefit of my tenacity pet, I died three times trying to complete this quest (I don't know whether this was just me or not, I might just suck Sticking out tongue ) but I'd attack one lone Nightbane thinking I'd be fine, only to have 3 others rushing from the side or from quite far away, then halfway through fighting four of them another two attacking from behind. Since you say the guide is a bit heavy on the exp side and might be able to drop a few quests, you might make this one of them or make a note about trying to avoid the mobs (although all my attempts seemed futile, since they'd rush in no matter how far away they were.) Anyway it's not an extremely hard quest to complete even if you die a few times, but it just gets a bit frustrating wondering why a nightbane halfway across the map inside a house facing the other way seems to decide it's a good time to come attack me whenever I attack a nightbane on it's own.

Anyway thanks for the guide.

Maw's picture

I guess you can call me

I guess you can call me "responsable" for this guide, now that it's in my guide list. Though, it was Boston who wrote this guide, and since he isn't around to update it anymore, I do that job. But I only update the guide to adapt to patch changes (such as I have done with the boat paths), I am not updating the leveling route itself.

I don't think this guide is that good :/ I generally use it to get a general tip of zones to level in. Quite a bit of quests are missing which only mean extra experience ("The Hermit" being one). Also some really weird choices in going stormwind-duskwood-stormwind without reason.

Missing Quest

In section VI. Level 22b, in order to get the quest "The Algaz Gauntlet" you first have to do "Report to Mountaineer Rockgar" which you get from Mountainer Kadrell in Thesalmar.

Please fix this in the guide and in the addon version. Thank you for such a good guide.

Section: VI Lvl 22b After obtaining the quest , on your way to the SW tram in the Dwarven District, stop by *Billibub Cogspinner* (Engineering Supplies). He sells the {Bronze tube} that is on the shopping list. If he is out, once you get on the tram and are in IF, there is another vendor named *Gearcutter Cogspinner* (Engineeering Supplies) that also sells the tube. If you haven't bought one yet, this point in the guide would be great to check for it, you don't go out of your way and usually you will get lucky and one of them will have it in stock. Laterz, Noc

Another Great Addition to the WoW-Pro Guides

I've been using Jame's guides for years so, needless to say, my standards are high Smiling

For those of you who are used to Jame's "style," you will feel right at home here - Boston does a great job of creating a very smooth transition from his guide into Jame's; using the same formatting scheme.

This guide does an excellent job of introducing you to the expansive world of WoW. Actually, not since the opening month of WoW have I gone so deep into some of those quest chains as Boston guides you, which makes for a very "fulfilling" 20-30 run. Only possible downside is you really (really..) cover some ground in this guide, involving a lot of running around every few levels (more so than Jame's). Although I got the feeling that with the increased questing XP rewards with recent patches that the extra leg-work was worth it (plus you gather a great deal of the flightpaths that Jame requires, saving time in the long run).

All in all, this guide is excellent - takes you through nearly all the relevant quests for this level range in the detail and efficiency that you've come to expect from WoW-Pro and Jame's guides. Was able to do 20-30 in 2 days following this guide (albeit I was playing a twinked char w/ heirloom shoulders/dagger/bow Eye )

Fiona Longears

Couldn't get the quest Fiona Longears from Red Jack (Menethil Harbor). I thought maybe I was too high of a level, since I started this guide at lvl 21/22, but he didn't give me a quest at all.

Anyway, I love this guide! I'm about a level or so ahead the levels you've posted, but I'm still following it anyway. Thanks!

It doesn't matter if it's

It doesn't matter if it's better or not, this guide covers different levels than my guide, so you'll have to do both guides anyway Sticking out tongue

I've been using these guides

I've been using these guides for some time, they are just simply the best you can get at any price. That they're free is sweet icing on WoW's cake! I'm finally playing my first Alliance toon after playing Horde for so long, and this and your 12-20 guide just plain rock!

There are a few comments and possible corrections you might consider, though:

1) At 22a step1, is this a revision mistake? There is at this point no quest to turn in to Blind Mary, that won't happen until 27a, step 1. Unless you meant for us to get the Ghost Hair thread from Madame Eva and complete it then, but the step is unclear about which quest we're supposed to give Blind Mary.

2) To make "Retrieval for Mauren" more bearable, while at Atranaar, get the quest "Journey to Stonetalon Peak" from Faldreas. After going thru Talondeep Path and visiting Ziz, and then Kaela then Gaxim (I skipped taking their quests since on a PvP server, Horde players will be thick in the area killing Venture Co guys, and along with all the spiders, it's all too much trouble), get to the Pridewings and finish that quest. Then keep heading north on the road till you get to Stonetalon Peak, an Alliance camp with a flight path. Turn in the quest to Keeper Albagorm (a Cenarius looking dude) at coord 37.8, and get "Reclaiming the Charred Vale", which involves killing Harpies found in the same place at the Blackened Basilisks. When done with both quests, instead of heading all the way back across the Horde camp and all the Venture Co guys to get to Talondeep Path, just get back to the much closer Stonetalon Peak camp and fly back to Astranaar. The Harpies quest nets more XP and rep than the Venture Co quest, anyway, and IMHO they're easier to fight.

3) You state "kill any Young Pridewing", which don't exist as such. Kill any Pridewing around the lake, esp at the north end. Generally about 1 out of 4 venom sack droprate.

4) When you're back in Astranaar from Stonetalon Mountains, get the quest "Kayneth Stillwind" from Shindrell. Might as well have a good reason for getting to Forest Song to get you past the Horde's big camp if you're on a PvP server. Things can get ugly...

5) Also, after leaving the Forest Song camp, head east on the road to Azshara and the Alliance camp south of the road just after entering the zone. Get the flight path and you'll be prepared for that zone later on. Just be careful of the Horde Outrunner who patrols along the road, but she's a really easy kill if she tries to gank you. The Tauren in that camp is friendly, don't be afraid of him.

6) At 26a, step 1, Corporal Keeshan did -not- stop at the cave entrace, but kept right on going into the camps, aggroing the whole bunch. We survived, but barely. He didn't give me the chance to clear those camps before stumbling on.

7) Personal note: don't be afraid or hesitate to go ahead and take some of the continued quests that Boston says not to, if you want to explore a bit. A bunch of these quest chains are a lot of fun and have lore to learn , and this is the reason to play this game. Don't always be in a blind rush to level cap, especially if this is your first toon to level! Use this guide as a guide for where to be when and how, not as a strict bible. Have fun along the way!

Again, thanks to Boston for this guide, and Jame for his and the whole site! Laughing out loud

Hey Quillerdaemon. I saw

Hey Quillerdaemon.

I saw this list and decided to test the guide out with a new character. This are my results:

1) You DO have to turn in a quest at this point, Boston tells you to turn in your quest to Madame Eva and GET THE FOLLOW UP in the section 21a.

2) This is indeed more XP because the time it takes for these little basilisks to respawn is quite... annoying.

3) This is true, only Pridewings and higher appear around this lake.

4) Yup, This is another quest I obtained because I saw it as easy XP.

6) Corporal Keeshan stopped for me, but when I helped my buddy do it he did not stop. I believe that it has to do with the orcs right outside the cave, whether they are there or not. Just prepare in advance and expect the worse.

Auberdine Boat to Menethil

Thanks to the new expansion WotLK the boat to menethil harbor in auberdine was replaced with one to Stormwind. Just thought you'd like to change it to say users of this guide can take the boat to stormwind and a Flight Path to Menethil, or take the boat to Menethil in Theramore.

Thanks

I'm new to WoW and I may say your guides work quite well. Laughing out loud I've got a question - I skipped the first going to Duskwood beacause I thought since I was two levels ahead I could skip it. Is it fatal? Do I have to do them the second time around?
Thanks Smiling
