OK, I'm running a Human

OK, I'm running a Human Hunter through the Burning Steppes guide in the addon and have just accepted the quest "Burning Vengeance". Unfortunately the guide doesn't seem to have updated the "Accept" step below:

A Burning Vengeance|QID|28416;28174|M|17.31,51.98|N|From John J. Keeshan.|

I can see from Wowhead that there are 2 Alliance quests called "Burning Vengeance" but with different IDs (as shown in the line of code above) I have QID 28174 in my quest log.  What I don't understand is.... the semicolon in the code above separates the 2 QIDs, and I'm assuming that should allow either of the 2 quests to "Accept" and complete that step in the guide.  But it hasn't, and the "Accept" step is still not completed and is visible in the addon.

Obviously, I can just right click the step to complete it, but I was wondering if this is a bug with the Burning Steppes (Alliance) guide?  Or is it something in the addon code that needs tweaking?

I've got the same problem but

I've got the same problem but for all the guides on all races, sort of annoying

Re: OK, I'm running a Human

Hmm, Did you get an error message like:

Expected QID nil, found XXX instead on quest [Burning Vengeance] ?

It looks like the leveling addon has incomplete support of multiple QUIDs.

I'll put it on my list!

I don't think so... I don't

I don't think so... I don't remember seeing an error message like that in the chat window.  It just didn't tick the step off as completed.

Yes, it is a bug in the guide, one that I reported ages ago (see my comment on the guide page: ), but apparently no one could think of a fix for it.

something to try

Since I don't conveniently have someone of the right level to test this... Can you try changing the ";" to a "," on your copy of the guide? It is located in your wow directory (..\\interface\addons\wowpro_leveling\alliance\50_52_Crackerhead22_burning_steppes.lua) .  Then let us know if that solves the problem and it checks off properly (automatically).

Emmaleah == bravely leading the way since ... um a long time ago... Smiling

Changing the semicolon didn't work

OK, I've tried picking up the Burning Vengeance quest again after changing the semicolon to a comma and it didn't clear the step.  I've abandoned the quest again, just in case you have any other suggestions for testing the guide.

Something to try...

I haven't got anyone of the right level either :-(

Thanks for the suggestion... I've edited the file and replaced the semicolon with a comma as suggested, and have reset the guide.  Unfortunately, this alt had already completed the "Burning Vengeance" quest; so the only thing that the reset did was to show the initial "Accept" step again.  But as I've already completed it, I can't pick up the quest from the giver.

I'll check some of my higher level toons to see if they've done this quest and if so, I'll run them through it. :)

hope its right place

I wouldnt call it a bug but didnt know where to put it.

for quest 11/146 for a human mage

The note says "learn arcane missles"

the vanilla quest is "learn frost nova"

i just thought i'd share.

new bug

I dl'd (and installed)  the newest patch you put on github today.   I opened my tillers guide and when accepting the quest in this step (2nd step of dailies - after the intro)

A A Gift For ??|QID|30470;30471;30472;30473;30474;30475;30476;30477;30478;30479|PRE|30257|M|52.70,50.47|N|From Andi.|

The quest specifically was A Gift for Gina|QID|30479

The step after it is :

B Buy or Make 5 Valley Stir Fry|QID|30470;30471;30472;30473;30474;30475;30476;30477;30478;30479|REP|Chee Chee;1277;Stranger-Good Friend|L|74647 5|N|This is for Chee Chee It requires Reef Octopus x5 and Wildfowl Breast x5.|;30402

and is presumably the problem? (since it uses the friendship logic)

I got the error shown below (but with a whole long list of addos).  I then exited wow, turned off that whole long list of addons, and had JUST wow-pro. wow-pro dailies and tom tom.  At that point only the First N step of the guide would load.  I also tried a differant guide (golden lotus) and only the first N step of that guide would load also

Next I turned on wow-pro leveling and the whole guide would load, but it still wouldnt advance past the step A gift for ??

Next I logged out again and turned on swatter, thus getting the same error without the whole long list of addons. (shown below)

Also of note...When I log back in (or /reload) the steps that should be compete at this time (i.e. A Get all quests from farmer yoon, and A A gift for ?? from Andi) are not checked off.  I am not surprised that the one from Andi is not checked since it is what threw the error, but the first step, (get all from farmer yoon) worked fine and I do indead have one of the quests listed in my quest log.

Yup, debug code.  And in this case, it panned out!

It means that I probably have the return values from the new function slightly off.

I'll tweak again.

Reputation API Change

I submitted a bug report about 20 minutes ago and then dug into
things a bit more and figured out what seems to be going on. I was
having trouble with the Terrokar guide tonight, where it wouldn't show any
but the "pick a faction in Shattrath" line items (two of them). Looked
back at a bug that had popped up upon login, and realized it referenced not
finding the "GetFriendshipReputationbyID" API call.

looks like this call has been removed in patch 5.1, and there's a new
"GetFriendshipReputation" API call. It's not a direct
replacement since they have added in a couple of new return values in the new function.

This apparently directly affects Terrokar since a lot of the available quests are dependent on whether you've got Aldor or Scryer rep.

RE: API Change

Yeah, I was working on it,   There is a change in the developer area:

That should fix it.  Please try it out and if it works for both Tillers and regular reps, then I will issue a new release.

PS:  There is some debug messages that will print that will tell me things I need to know if it does NOT work right.

My fault.  I've got the module re-coded but it takes a total re-write of all the different professions to make it work.  Plus, Blizzard thought they should make them easier to get levels so am having to rework that code as well.  Work has also kept me busy and i haven't been able to put in as much time as I wished.  I think what I will do is just put out what I have and update the professions as I finish them.

Hide guide during pet battles

Would it be possible to add the abilty to hide the guide during pet battles?  I keep the guide near the top of the screen and it overlaps the pet battle info panel.

Re: Hide guide during pet battles

Hmm, Good Idea.   Using the super secret "/etrace start" command and then doing a pet battle yields the following useful events:

So it looks like the PET_BATTLE_OPENING_START and PET_BATTLE_CLOSE events can be used to bracket the hiding.

I'll confirm and implement.

I just started using WoW Pro guide addon before the patch. It worked great. Now, after the patch the waypoints it is giving me for quests is no where in the zone I am even at. When in durator it wants to send me to Moonglade. On a diffrent character, when in Vashj'ir it was wanting to send me to Ironforge for every quest.

Any ideas on how to fix this? Is it a known bug that is being worked on?

Waypoints - Same problem

I have the same problem with the waypoints.  It seems like all the waypoints in Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor are messed up for me.  Are you using Carbonite as your map?  That's what I am using.  I'm not sure if this is a Wow-Pro issue or a Carbonite issue.

Edit - I think the problem is with Carbonite.  I just installed TomTom and the waypoints work correctly with TomTom.  I guess I recommend using TomTom for now until Carbonite is updated properly.

Yep, I am using carbonite.

Yep, I am using carbonite. Good to know. Will be downloading tom tom, thanks

Request for community help for multiboxers

The bane of multiboxers quest-wise is the gather quest, or certain kill quests where each toon must complete their own collection by themselves.  If you're leveling a team of 5, then you have to kill/collect 50 items instead of 10.  Big PITA.If we as a community can identify only those quests that can be completed team-wide, that would be a powerful and much desired tool for the multiboxing community.    It could be as simple as asking the multiboxing community to download a version for them to run as they level their teams that has a check box for boxer-friendly quests.  Have it as an addon feature while we use the speed leveling guide and have the addon upload that list, compile it and package it as a boxer-friendly guide.

Request for integration with Carbonite

Now, I know that the addon works with Carbonite's waypoint system but here's the catch. I LOVE Carbonite's quest tracking (the way it shades areas on the map which contain particular quest mobs/loot etc) but Carbonite itself doesn't have a questing guide which is what I use WoW-Pro for. Now, unless I want two tracking windows displayed (wow-pros guide and Carbonite's list of tracked quests) I have to disable Carbonite's quest module which then gets rid of the tracking to the point that I almost might as well be using TomTom instead. :(

I really want the best of both worlds. The quest tracking capabilities of Carbonite and the guide/quest ordering of wow-pro. If anyone can tell me of an easy way to achieve this I'd really appreciate it.

Ok, so after some browsing around it seems highly possible that Carbonite may be turning the project over to the community which means it'll pretty much be dying out anyways. Maybe wow-pro could use it's own quest tracking or integrate blizzard's default which also shades the areas on the map?...

I would have imagined that

I would have imagined that Blizzard's map marking system for quest areas would have been good enough.  What I believe would work is if WoW-Pro selected the POI for the associated quest so Blizzard would automatically update its maps to the current quest WoW-Pro is tracking.

If you want to up your

If you want to up your  awesome, take over Carbonite and keep their Google-map-like zoom feature.  If you don't know it, go try it out.  It should be a mandatory feature of the WoW map.  This business of being on the edge of a map and not being able to see the next area over is ridiculous. In using Carbonite for my map, it supercedes WoW's map, so Carbonite's map-coloring feature is just fine.  Take it over, whittle down some of the extras it doesn't need and make it your own. Also, please get a new captcha system.  10 tries with invisible letters and no way to refresh is teh awful.  :P

wow pro addons makes me lag

I have been using the wow pro addon for several years now, got all my characters to 85 and never ever had any problems with it. Never. I decided to level up the only class I was missing (hunter, BE). Everything was fine until level 20 or so until a very strange thing happened. Everytime I killed a mob, my screen would freeze for 0.5 secs. Moving on to other mobs it seemed the problem went away but then it would come back again. Using /console reloadui fixed the problem for maybe 2 minutes. Going back to all my other characters with the same computer spec, internet connection, same addons, same area, same mobs and I never got this problem to occur. Going through the levels, trying to ignore the problem, I reached level 70 until I had enough. I deleted WTF, cache and interface folders, used blizzard repair tool and tried to see what happens. Without using any addons, I killed several mobs without having any screen freeze. Then I downloaded one by one the latest versions of all the addons and turned them on again one by one until I figured the problematic one. Only after I installed wow pro and tomtom the problem came back :( . I again deleted all my addons, played without any and there was no problem. I only turned on wow pro and I got the problem on every kill. It is very strange since I repeat, with all my other characters I use the addon for dailies, finish off quests in areas I skipped while levelling and I never get a problem, its like it is character specific. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Daily module tags?

Ok, next problem in my guide for the Firelands Dailies: I just unlocked the Druids of the Talons yesterday, having previously only played Shadow Wardens. Now with both unlocked however, there's a choice the player has to make as to which side to play each day.

I tried to do this in the guide with using PRE and LEAD tags, so that only the quests for the side the player has chosen are shown. However, the Daily module of the addon doesn't seem to recognize these tags at all. It always shows me all the quests in the guide, whether I did the prerequisite or not, or whether I have already done the quest pointed to by the LEAD tag... Is this an inherent problem of the Daily module or am I doing something wrong in writing my guide?

Life isn't like a box of chocolates, it's more like a jar of jalapeños: What you do today might burn your a** tomorrow.

Estelyen's picture

Latest Daily module

I just downloaded the new version this morning and the new daily module seriously messed up the guide I'm writing for the Firelands Invasion Dailies... My guess is that in this new daily module, the use of the O tag has been made mandatory for random daily quests? Because in the previous version, it would automatically skip all steps concerning a quest I do not have, even without using the O tag (except the "Accept Quest" steps). Which is why I never really used it. Now, the new version is there and suddenly my guide is showing me all the steps, whether I have the quest or not.

Of course, it's not really a big deal to add the O tag to all the steps in the guide, I just want to ask if this new mechanic is intentional.

EDIT: I added the O tag wherever neccessary in my guide, but it's still showing all the steps. What is going on?

Works like a charm

Just tested this hotfix and now everything works perfectly, thank you so much!
