Comments

Not sure if this is the same bug.

I had wowpro disabled. I clicked on the minimap button to enable it. the box showed up, with the title of WoW-Pro Guides, but nothing in the unshaded area. I left clicked on it, nothing happened. I right clicked on it, and got this error.  I'm removing the list of addons. The only possible thing relevant to 'combat raid frames' is that I had created a custom group because I had the leather trader in my garrison; there were some random hoppers in it, in combat (I'm guessing since the HP was moving on one) and I left the group. This was about 2-3 minutes before I clicked to enable wow-pro.  I will also be reporting this to metamap. No clue why clicking on a wow-pro created frame caused a problem attributed to metamap.

I logged in. It asked me if I wanted to switch to the guide for Bringing the Bass. I clicked no. Then I got this. Now, it doesn't say what addon threw the error, but the error popped when I clicked No on the pop up, so I'm reporting it.

7.1.0B. Alliance Rogue, standing in the Rogue Order Hall. I'll note, I had disabled the addon in the Interface list, and had expected that to disable it entirely. I did NOT expect it to show up on subsequent characters. :/

I'm removing my list of addons, you can see them in my other message.

error

Im not the person to help with errors, but I thought I would comment on:

I'll note, I had disabled the addon in the Interface list, and had
expected that to disable it entirely. I did NOT expect it to show up on
subsequent characters. :/

The disable that is in the wowpro addon menu is only for that character,  It doesnt unload it from memory (like the blizzard UI option would) but instead makes it not functional until re-enabled for that char.

When you get the option do you want to load...there are three options Yes/No/and Dont Ask.  For Bringing in the Base (or anyother quest you have in your log that you don't particularly plan to do for awhile and would prefer not to be bothered with the popup constantly...Choose Don't ask.  That disables the popup from occuring until you reset the guide from the menu.

Rank Newb Just starting to use this addon

Verion 7.1.0B (just downloaded today). This is an Alliance Warrior.

So I installed it and logged in. This alt is a L100 Warrior, maxed tailoring/blacksmithing. It's mostly a crafting toon, so I actually haven't done much of the Draenor questing; just enough to bring me up to 100, and then into Tanaan to get oil cause the ship missions drop elemental mats. I have accepted the quest to go to Recruiter Lee in Stormwind, but haven't otherwise done anything with Legion.

When I first logged in, I got a pop up asking if I wanted some guide. I actually don't remember what, because there was a blingtron 5k visible on my minimap, and I was trying to get to it cause it gives me mats. I failed to find it in time, and somewhere in there the popup went away without my ever clicking on it.

A box labeled Warrior Order Hall is visible in the same place as my modified objectives tracker. I don't know what to do with it, because I don't know what the quest that's listed on it means.

I opened the Interface->Addons and looked at the settings. I left the checkmark to enable the addon, and I checked Grail Integration. I then went to profiles and shifted it from Default ot the one named for this CharacterName-Realm, and this error popped up in Swatter:

This, or a related bug,

This, or a related bug, appears to have been around a while. I spent a few hours today, with my trusty can of raid bug spray, and have what I think is a working fix. I first had to read up on AceDB, and research other add-ons using it for profile management.

This fix is for version 7.2.0B, the latest available for download. I haven't found another way to submit bug fixes, code updates.

Open the WoWPro.lua file in your favorite text/code editor. Locate the "Default profile options" section, around line 276. At the end of the "defaults" dictionary, immediately after "stickytitletextcolor" on line 317, I added the following

    Selector = {
        QuestHard = 0,
    },

Now my profile options seem to work. I haven't noticed any issues with it yet, but i've only been testing it for about an hour now.

Hope this helps, and makes it to the mainline.

new to addon

As to the error... There is a module that is supposed to easily enable guide switching but unfortunately it is non functional right now.  I don't recall ever getting an error related to it except when trying to actually use it, but I think that is what that error refers too. (

Message: ..\AddOns\WoWPro\WoWPro_Broker.lua line 731:

attempt to index field 'Selector' (a nil value)

As to profiles... You are hitting all the broken places today *terribly sorry for that*  but profiles are not properly saving so if you don't like the dedault profile (I dont) You have to reset those options each time you log in.  That being said, the default profile isnt that bad.  The only really bad part of this bug is it won't usually remember what guide you were in the middle of, and so you have to go to guide list and select you guide on almost every log in.

Now for what does work :)

When you first log in and see the pop up (probably asking you if you want to switch to the guide for "in the blink of an eye"?) say yes, and the Warrior Order Hall guide should load.  (assuming you are on a warrior).  If the guide you want doesn't load, you can go to the menu [ESC>INTERFACE>ADDON tab>WOW PRO, click the "+" to expand the menu, and choose select guide and choose from the list which guide you want (the zone you are going to quest in)].  Im guessing you arent new to legion, just this character is, so you know the basic way order halls work and chooseing next zone at the command table and such.

This expansion provided a lot more quest variety between classes with order halls and the like, most of the order hall guides only show the very first steps.  Paladin and DK are complete, Mage, Monk, Hunter and Priest are significantly beyond the beginning and as far as I am aware, all the rest of the class guides only cover thru getting all of your artifact weapons. We are working on getting them all done, but it was a much bigger undertaking than previous expansion guides have been.

The zone guides are all completed and while there may be some minor tweaks that could improve them, I feel they are pretty good.

Welcome to WowPro and anything I can do to assist using the guides, let me know.

Emmaleah == bravely leading the way since ... um a long time ago... Smiling

I'm talented that way

I often end up finding things that are broken, I've been told this before by other addon authors. :D  That particular character... I'm not sure when I'm going to take it into Legion; it's mostly a crafter character, and I pulled it into WoD in my second-tier of upleveling due to the easy crafting stuff, so I could make gold for tokens. The crafting in Legion is byzantine, and I've ben too busy trying to figure out how to work leveling on 3 diff toons to figure out actually *making* anything (as opposed to gathering). I mean, My JC (hunter) is one of the first I pulled up, and "go find someone who might know about this ring thing" didn't give me any clue as to where to go, and I'd already chosen a zone that apparently wasn't it... I was all the way through Valshara and most of the way through Highmountain when I found Azsuna on another character and went Oh hey, that's a similar name..... *facepalm*

I'm a bit disappointed, actually, that trying to select a guide seems to be broken; the first toon I tried to use this on was my JC, and in choosing JC I got an error about selecting guides, and couldn't figure out how to make the JC guide work, and then couldn't switch to anything else. I'm honestly finding trying to use this more frustrating than anything else. It seems that what I wanted it for is what's unavailable.

Thanks for the replies!

7.1.0 conflict with Skillet add on

This may be related to the known bug with not reading trade skill spells. When I have both WowPro and Skillet enabled, and try to open the trade skill window (in this case Cooking), WowPro prints the following in the chat window:

"WowPro: Opened Cooking window

WowPro: Located 0 recipeIDs"

The trade skill window then fails to open. Skillet throws the following error:

2x Skillet\UI\MainFrame.lua:1391: bad argument #1 to 'pairs' (table expected, got nil)[C]: in function `pairs'Skillet\UI\MainFrame.lua:1391: in function `HideDetailWindow'Skillet\UI\MainFrame.lua:1405: in function `UpdateDetailsWindow'Skillet\UI\MainFrame.lua:767: in function <Skillet\UI\MainFrame.lua:740>(tail call): ?Skillet\Skillet-3.13.lua:1279: in function `?'...Ons\Ace3\CallbackHandler-1.0\CallbackHandler-1.0-6.lua:145: in function <...Ons\Ace3\CallbackHandler-1.0\CallbackHandler-1.0.lua:145>[string "safecall Dispatcher[1]"]:4: in function <[string "safecall Dispatcher[1]"]:4>[C]: ?[string "safecall Dispatcher[1]"]:13: in function `?'...Ons\Ace3\CallbackHandler-1.0\CallbackHandler-1.0-6.lua:90: in function `Fire'Ace3\AceEvent-3.0\AceEvent-3.0-3.lua:120: in function <Ace3\AceEvent-3.0\AceEvent-3.0.lua:119>Locals:nil

I find both the WowPro addon and Skillet very useful - I hope you can deconflict!

general bug with addon

With the new expansion my addon has begun to reset its displays and guid im using each time i log in and out.

Same Problem?

I'm on 7.0.3Q. I think I have the same/similar problem.  Every time I log out, all formatting is reset and all profiles reset to default. I try to copy into different profiles to see if one will remain, but still all erased on login. Anything I might be doing wrong, or should I try going back a version or is there a beta?  Thanks for your awesome guides and helpful community.

Another one

I'm having this same problem. Every time I come back to the game, I have to reset my formatting from level 2 and 1 guide step, as well as reselecting the current guide I'm working on from the guide list (which also won't open using the right-click menu, I have to manually find it under the addons in interface). I've tried setting up custom settings to fix this, and no luck, it always resets every time.

Emmaleah's picture

The menu problem

There is an addon called Blizz bugs suck.  If you install it, it will let you right click on the title bar of the guide pane and have the menu come up as it should.  The addon also fixes many other bugs that blizzard has made over the years and it's authors maintain it so it only fixes current bugs.  (Alas it doesnt fix maxcameradistance because Blizz's change is an intentional change, not a bug)

As to the resetting, apparently it doesnt happen if you run with wowpro in debug mode.  Of course then you have to see all the debug messages. I personally prefer the extra spam to resetting my UI Preferances for WoW-Pro every login.  Sadly, Ludo hasn't yet been able to fix why it happens in non-debug mode.

Re: The menu problem (scream!)

Aaaaaaaaah!   I'm sorry if I forgot someone mentioned this was fixed in debug mode and was a non-debug mode problem.

This clue may make it easier for me to fix.

Emmaleah's picture

Debug mode

oh, sorry. I thought that was the conclusion we came to when I sent you what I thought might be a clue and turned out not to be helpful, but the fact it didnt happen to me in debug mode, but did when I forgot to turn it back on after zapping my WTF file was a clue.

Is there anything else as a clue to which guide it is.

Based on the QID Im guessing its in a Garrison Guide, but I havent been able to find it on the site?  I found that line in the garrison campaign guide and it has been fixed. Per the change log, it looks like someone has been working on that guide lately and lots of changes to it.  So... hopefully, the current version should be good to go.

I am using wow-pro 7.0.3H on an alliance toon. My chat has those 3 line repeating about every second when I have that guide selected and it fills my chat frame up with that spam. Only way to make it stop is to turn guide off.

fixed on website

I fixed it on the website, but it will not be fixed in the addon until Ludo makes a new build. (and updates guide files)

If you want to fix it on your install before that, you can open the guide file and insert a "|" between the numbers and Korelock (i.e. 12292|Korelock).  The guide file is found in the wowpro_leveling\alliance directory.

Shadowmoon valley and Frostfridge ridge guides breaking

Using the current version, 7.0.3H from this site.At about 80-95% of the way through the zone, the guide just breaks on both of these zones. It stops updating steps, showing 1 step and not populating the other 4 I normally have showing, showing steps I've completed with checkmarks but not scrolling on. If I switch to a different guide, it works fine, when I switch back it shows the steps of the guide I had previously switched to, but with them checked off (for guides I haven't done yet).I've completely uninstalled the guide, deleted all lua's from the act saved variables and the character specific, and then reinstalled. Still broken at the same place. It seems to be related to garrison things. The shadowmoon valley broke just before the podlings section, when I was back in the garrison turning in to the building manager guy. The horde one broke on the quest turning timber into profit.

Can you post a debug log?

Russian symbols did noot show

I installed 7.0.3Hit seems works fine but in quests log i have somthing like this

russian discription did not show correctly. I try change font for it, but it did not help (

Re: Russian symbols did noot show

I must confess I have never tried the client in Russian, since I only know latin alphabet languages.

But, I can clearly see that the ??? characters should be something else.

Let me see what I can do.  Did you ever use our Addon in Russian and succeed or is this your first time using it?

Game won't load

Hey! Been using the addon for years, never had a problem, until about 3 weeks ago, and I couldn't get the game to load if I'm running the addon. It only does it with this computer, any other computer in my house that I play wow on it works. I even copied the interface folder from a computer I confirmed it worked with. I've disabled every addon except tomtom and wow-pro, and it still doesn't load, but I'm pretty sure it is wow-pro because the game loads with tomtom enabled. I've done everything I can think of short of a full reinstall, and thought I'd try you guys first, and maybe alert you to the problem. The addon (and all my other addons) are fully updated, the game is updated, all my drivers are updated. I'm using Windows 10.

Dalaran Map

I'm using version 6.2.4. When I went into Dalaran I got the error: Zone [4395] is not in Zone2MapID. Please Report!

I'm currently trying to use The Storm Peaks guide for lvl 77-80. The TomTom arrow isn't showing up for inside of Dalaran.

Guide selector generates a bug

I'm just levelled up my rogue to 100 and wanted to start doing the professions. As soon as I hover over a guide bugsack reports an error.

I'm also using LUA V3 if that makes any difference.

Re: Guide selector generates a bug

I'm pretty sure I fixed this bug in release 6.2.4, but I'll double check when the server comes back before I release.

Compatibility problem with Dugi Questing Essential?

I can't get the WoWPro addon to work with Dugi Questing Essential (http://www.curse.com/addons/wow/dugi-questing-essential), which is imo THE new major quest addon on the "market" today and replaced Carbonite for me.

Dugi Questing Essential (DQE) has a TomTom Emulation function but when I use WoWPro it doesn't create any waypoint in DQE. The /way x y command does work with DQE though, so any idea why WoWPro isn't working with DQE? I'm using WoWPro 6.2.2A and I don't have any error message, the waypoints coords are just not "pushed" to DQE.

Thanks!

Sound Not Working for Completed Steps?

The Sound options for completed steps are not working. Is this a known bug or has it been removed from the addon and the options still exsist?

Ludovicus_Maior's picture

Re: Sound Not Working for Completed Steps?

Huh!   I did not know about that feature.

Let me look into it.   Blizzard proibably changed the path to the sound and we never noticed the change.

PS:   Yup.  In 6.1 they changed from .wav files to .ogg files.   Fixing the pathnames makes it immediatly noisy.

Fixed in https://github.com/Jiyambi/WoW-Pro-Guides/commit/6330665d8d4e59d034c3e49cb7c36050ac007a7c for the next patch.

WoWPro.lua error on line 588 when trying to auto switch guides.

Upgraded to the newest version of the addon today (6.2.0) and when I was going through checking off all the guides I had completed after deleting my lua save (just in case of a conflict) I got the following error when the addon tried to automatically switch from the Spires of Arrak guide to the Nagrand.

Re: WoWPro.lua error on line 588 when trying to auto switch

Thanks for the report.   I'll fix this later today and it will be released as part of 6.2.0A next Thursday.

Without even looking at the code, I can see in my head what I did wrong ;-).

Normally run all my guides

Normally run all my guides with Difficulty/Completeness set to 3, so I get everything.

Today I decided to run it Difficulty/Completeness set to 1, which was great until it got to the end of the guide. In the title, I had 114/127, and the window was blank, it didn't automatically move onto the next guide.

Ludovicus_Maior's picture

Re: Normally run all my guides

As of 6.2.0 all guides now have a "D" step added to the end to fix this problem for real.

I will also be adding an L step to the start of every guide to enforce the minimal level and will remove the ones you started adding.

It is a good idea, but there is no need for guide writers to implement it.

Ludovicus_Maior's picture

Re: Normally run all my guides

Whoops!   I suspect that if you skip quests in a guide, that the same thing will happen.

I know where to look.  The fact that the count is off means that the completeness total is off.

Thansk for the report.   I'll have it fixed for Wednesday,.

Also experiencing bad framerates

No LUA errors, just really bad framerates, so bad I had to disable the addon.

I am running a Core2Quad 4.2Ghz system, 4 gig ram, 1 TB HD, nVidia GForce GT460 video card.

Ludovicus_Maior's picture

If you have bad framerates with WoWPro ...

Please try the development version of the addon at :

https://github.com/Jiyambi/WoW-Pro-Guides/archive/master.zip

and be sure to disable the recorder, or you will get confused.  I updated all of the support libraries, which I forgot to do after 5.4 was released.   Some were VERY stale.

Also the addon saves a copy of the latest log in your world of warcraft directory.  You can get it at:

  • /Applications/World of Warcraft/WTF/Account/6666666#1/SavedVariables/WoWPro.lua
  • C:\Program files (x86)\World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\6666666#1\SavedVariables\WoWPro.lua

Just send me that file.   If you want to be even more helpful.  Download and install this addon:

http://www.curse.com/addons/wow/brokercpu

and then left click on the minimap button that looks like a computer with a red wave on it and select "CPU profiling".  Then quit out of WoW and start it again.  It will be monitoring your FPS and collecting data on all your addons.  To see a report, just bring the mouse over the minimap button.  Send me a screenshot of things that are bad.

FPS drops when WoWPro is enabled

When the addon isn't enabled I have an FPS of 50 - 80. When enabled, and after doing a few quests, it drops to 2 - 10 which is not really playable. When disabling the addon, the FPS goes up right away. This happens to me in all Pandaria leveling guides.  It has been happening to me for the last few versions actually.

I tried to look at the debug log, to see if that would provide anything. Upon clicking to show the log, it first froze my WoW and then my entire computer, forcing me to reboot.  So debug log is not really possible, LUA error is not given.

Ludovicus_Maior's picture

Re: FPS drops when WoWPro is enabled

Can you tell me what kind of computer you are running on?

Can you tell me what other addons you have loaded?

The fact that you can't get a debug log makes me think something is very wrong.

My FPS never gets below 60, so I suspect that our addon is interacting with another addon.

I am using ElvUI,

I am using ElvUI, arkinventory, deadly bossmods and a few battlepet addons.

I did notice this: it only happens when accepting certain quests, I disable the addon, do what I have to do, run back to where I have to turn in the quests, enable the addon and turn them in WITH the addon enabled.  My FPS goes back to normal as soon as the quests are turned in.  It's the quests where the horde enter pandaria.

I do have to say, I tried it on another alt and it hasn't happened anymore as soon as my first char bit through the FPS drops.  Maybe it was an addon causing this that has been updated since, I have no clue.  But at the moment I can play without FPS drops.  In case this changes again I will let you know.

Is there any other way to check the debug log (file in the WTF folder or something), maybe it will point out what was going wrong when I tried to open it in-game.

I'm running wow on windows 7 Home Premium, 6 gigs of RAM, AMD  A8 - 4500M APU radeon (it's a laptop).  I never had problems running wow, cept for those few times that the FPS dropped in the past.

Ludovicus_Maior's picture

Re: I am using ElvUI,

Hmm, let me see if I can rig a test for you to run.

I'll also double-check I am using the latest support libraries for the addon.   Sometimes they need updates after a release.
