I think you misunderstood. I

I think you misunderstood. I removed the curse version, installed the version from this website and THEN I got the error message...

It was a fresh installation of the addon from this site. But no worries, the error has not come back since I reported the bug.

Switching from Curse Version to WoWPro Version

Ah, OK.   If the guide you were in in the Curse version disappeared or was replaced with a new guide, then you would get this error.

I will add code to check to see if the current guide has evaporated and if so, then revert to the NIL guide and let the user pic again.

Sorry it took so long to diagnose.

Manually Checking off a Task

To manually check off a task, what you want to do is instead of left clicking on the task you want to rigth click it.  This will only check off that task and nothing else.

WoW-Pro Waypoints

The waypoints are me it seems. Whenever I move onto the next quest, the waypoint is me and not where I am actually supposed to be going. Any help?

Gylin's picture

Re: WoW-Pro Waypoints

1st, are both WoW-Pro and TomTom fully upto date (WoW-Pro v2.1.5, TomTom v40000-1.2.6)?

2nd, is this happening all the time, or only with a specific guide? If so which guide and faction, as well as what steps does this problem happen on?

It appears that it was only happening on the first guide I utilized and then when I went to a different one, it righted itself. I was playing as Blood Elf Priest in Hillsbarad at the time.

No matter which guide i use. While im playing a huge list of quests will just appear in the middle of my screen with no way to get them to go away besides logging out.

Deepholm 82-83 Guide Issues

VERSION: 2.1.2

I havent been able to find any thing on this issue.  I just moved to the deepholm area and loaded the guide for it the first two quests that popped up said that if i didnt have them to just click them off and move on. i did so which in turn checked off 70+ quests in the guide and greyed them out so i couldnt uncheck them.  i was able to uncheck the first 4 quests and the rest unchecked themselves. it is also jumping my guide to quests i cant get yet., when i uncheck some of the quests a "List" of the quests in the deepholm guide pop up in a solid column in the center of my screen taking up 1/3 of the screen and i cant get rid of it unless i log out and back in.

I have :

Re: Deepholm guide issues

If you only need to check off a couple of steps always right click them, left click ticks off everything related to that quest including any further quests that had any dependencies on any step automatically checked off like this. Hence why deepholm guide checked off 70 odd steps when you left clicked it.

Try resetting the guide, then right clicking the steps you want to cancel.

That list that pops up looks like the confirmation list of the quests that will be skipped when you left click a step, it has a confirmation botton on it, although in your case its going to be off screen.

Update to version 2.1.4 as this may help matters.

Gylin's picture

Deepholm guide issues

OK after a quick check to see what was happening, I've found out that this is the second step that you're checking off ("Heros Call") causing this, and the column you get in the centre of your screen is the skip step confirmation list.

However, because checking off that step, causes 109 other steps to be skipped, the skip step list doesn't fit onto the screen, so you can't click the buttons to either confirm or cancel your actions. I'm working on a fix, currently managed to get the buttons back on screen even thought the list still goes off it.

deepholm guide issues fix

Open up WoWPro_Frames.lua inside the WoWPro folder in your addon and C+P the following over the exsisting text on lines 649-683 then save it. You can open the lua with any text editor, Notepad++ being a very good free one.

-- Skip Steps Dialog --
function WoWPro:CreateSkipStepsDialog()
    local frame, titletext = WoWPro:CreateDialogBox("Skip Steps", 250, 250)
    local explanation = frame:CreateFontString()
    explanation:SetPoint("TOPLEFT", frame, "TOPLEFT", 10, -70-titletext:GetHeight())
    explanation:SetTextColor(1, 1, 1)

    local button1 = CreateFrame("Button", "Okay", frame, "OptionsButtonTemplate")
    button1:SetPoint("TOP", titletext, "BOTTOM", 0, -5)
    local button1text = button1:CreateFontString()
    button1text:SetPoint("TOP", button1, "TOP", 0, -7)
    button1text:SetTextColor(1, 1, 1)
    button1:SetScript("OnClick", function(self, button)

    local button2 = CreateFrame("Button", "Cancel", frame, "OptionsButtonTemplate")
    button2:SetPoint("TOP", titletext, "BOTTOM", 0, -30)
    local button2text = button2:CreateFontString()
    button2text:SetPoint("TOP", button2, "TOP", 0, -7)
    button2text:SetTextColor(1, 1, 1)
    button2:SetScript("OnClick", function(self, button)

Now when you click left click on a step that has too many lines for the height of your screen at least the okay/cancel buttons are at the top of the list, and the top of the list can't go outside of your screen

.LUA files

Now i feel like a tool! I went to open up the WoWPro_Frames.lua file and clicked the wrong "OPEN WITH" and changed the opening program to word pad.......... how do i change it back?  it changed every .lua file to open with word pad.  WoW still runs but i have no WoW-Pro add-ons.  i tried downloading the newest version but that didnt work....

anyhelp would be awesome. im running XP Pro service pack 2

Ludovicus_Maior's picture

WordPad and LUA files

It is more likely you incorrectly edited the .LUA file than that the <OpenWith> setting is causing problem.

On my machine I have it set to another editor entierly and it does not bother WoW.

The safest thing to do is to delete the WowPro directories and then re-install WowPro.

If that does not work, install Swatter from! and then send us the error that it captures.  Also sometimes the <WOW>/Log/FrameXML.log file has nice messages.

WordPad and LUA files

Thanks, I tried reinstalling wowpro but all of the lua files were default set to open with wordpad on the new install also.  I ended up doing a restore. i back my stuff up about every otherday or so.  I didnt think to get any of the error messages. i downloaded notepad++ so i wouldnt mess it up agian.

thanks for all the help and thanks for a damn good guide!

Guide 64 - 66 not appearing in guide list

Version number: 2.1.4

I'm playing as an alliance character and my guide is bugged I belive, I redownloaded the latest addon just to be safe and the guide still doesn't show up

My friends guide is showing up which is supposed to be in the "Terokkar Forest" in Outlands

I have no idea what is causing this to go wrong and WoW Pro is the only addon I have on my game.

Here is a picture to show you what I mean

Re: Guide 64 - 66 not appearing in guide list

Someone else already reported it and a fix will appear in the next release.

Please see if you want to fix it yourself before then.

"Self" Quest Turn Ins

I love your addon and have been using it since it was in beta.  Before that I used the online versions.  Kudos for a GREAT product.

This is not a bug per se, but a suggestion for (I think) better implemtation.  I wonder if I dont have something set up right tho, since no one else (that I can find) has commented on it.

The issue is "self" quest turn ins.  Ocassionally in the mouseover comments on the guides they will say to turn in to your quest log and that is pretty much the only indication besides opening your quest log that these are "self" turn ins.

When there are self quest turn ins and you click on that line in the wow pro addon guide, it opens a quest log, but it only opens a 1 pane quest log and the turn in button is in pane 2, so I have to click on my quest log (L) to open the "real" quest log that is 2 panes wide and thus shows the "complete quest" button.

I expect this is interaction between 2 addons so, I tried disabling other addons for and haven't come across a self quest yet to know. (I'm a bad tester)  I will try to remember to try it next time I come across one.

Addons that could be affecting this

Questguru 2.2.3

Lightheaded r331

WowPro 2.1.4

So basically, I think it would be VERY handy to have 2 things different

1) some indication on the main guide screen that this is a "self" turn in quest

2) when i click on the line of the quide that opens the quest log, the frame opened should contain the "complete quest" button

Also its very cool that your captcha are something I can actually read!!

Emmaleah == bravely leading the way since ... um a long time ago... Smiling

Thanks for the

Thanks for the suggestion!

For the first suggestion, I always try to do this in my guides (or I say "the turn in should pop up automatically" if it normally does). But I'm not sure all the authors did this, so it's something that should be tested.

For the second suggestion, that would definitely be nice. The API I found just opened a single panel quest log, but I'm betting one of the current developers could find the correct API to open the full quest log!

Even better might be if the addon had a button to turn in the quest just by clicking it, but I'm not sure how do-able that would be. Still, something to look in to!

Version 2.1.4

It said i had the trial and to download the full one so i go here and download it and put it where its supposed to go. Yet it still says i have the trial. Ive tried deleting it and redoing it and no luck. Almost all of my guides are just 0-1 steps.

Crackerhead22's picture

I would suggest deleting all

I would suggest deleting all folders that deal with WoWPro addon, including those in the WTF folder.  Then download directly from here

I've found two issues. One

I've found two issues. One new and one that hasn't changed.

New: I have to personally check off quests and actions on the addon now. Not sure wether it's just Un'Goro Horde or Uldum, but it's the same for both. This has only started to happen in the newest addon update.

One reccuring: Experience through Stranglethorn Horde, and now finding on every Cata guide, the green dot cursor is perminantly stuck on my own location. Nothing I do seems to solve it, it just always comes back to myself so it's generally faster having to open the map and close it again and guess the fastest/only direction if it's in an underground/difficult to reach place. I can't fully remember which version I had prior to the newest, but they both have this same issue.

Terokkar Forest

Seems like Aldor and Scyer has been merged into a single Lua file. However, the guide.xml was not updated, making this guide not shown in the addon. Also, there's a bug with the rep. I took up Aldor, but it came up with the 2nd part asking me to choose Scyer. I had to manually skip it.

Also, OpenID login doesn't work.

Rep with Aldor/Scryer

The first quest you do for Aldor or Scryer, both quests will pop up.  No way to avoid that.  Once you turn in that first quest though, you are no longer neutral with both factions and it should work from then on.

Ludovicus_Maior's picture

Terokkar Forest Corrections

  1. Guides.xml problem is fixed in
  2. As for the Aldor/Scryer problem you noted, I'll let Crackerhead22 take a crack at it
  3. OpenID login problems I'll pass along to one of the moderators.

Dispaering Arrow

I also noticed jet another thing. Arrow is keep dispaearing and reapering in this version of add on. Does somebody else have this issue?

Ludovicus_Maior's picture

Where in the world is Niki

Niki:   Where were you and what guide were you using?

The worst problem with

The worst problem with disappering arrow was at mauntin Hjal.  I solved the problem by reloading UI. Then arrow apper. I have a feeling that it might have something to do with latency and not addon by itself but who knows. Once again thank you for a great addon.

I have also issue with oppening add on menu on minimap

this add on is great. I used it for around 10 days and when I installed new version 2.1.2 I also like many encourted problem with opening menu by using minimap. I hope you can solve this since in old version there was no such a problem.

Thank you once again for your great effort.

MiniMap Options page problem fixed in the next release.

The problem with the mini-map button not opening the options pane is fixed.

Next update is on Wednesday.

The guide list and current

The guide list and current guide are appearing under the Wow-Pro item instead of Wow-Pro leveling and right-clicking the minimap/ldb button doesn't open the config.

Are others experiencing this, or is something perhaps corrupt with my saved variables.

Jiyambi's picture

The current guide and guide

The current guide and guide list panels are supposed to be there now, they were moved there in preparation for the new modules coming out. I don't think I said that expressly anywhere but I didn't think it was a big enough change to warrant an announcement.

I will look into the minimap button issue, I don't *think* I changed anything that would affect that but if you are experiencing a problem with it, I apparently did >_<

Thanks for the report!

Found the offending line of code

line 631 of WoWPro_Frames.lua has the following line:

InterfaceOptionsFrame_OpenToCategory("WoW-Pro Guides")

I changed this to "WoW-Pro" and it opens the panel correctly. I believe it used to open to the current guide so switching up to "Current Guide" might work, I will try this out next.

Jiyambi's picture

Yeah, I changed the category

Yeah, I changed the category name from WoW-Pro Guides to WoW-Pro because that forced it to appear above all our new modules, some of which would have come alphabetically after "Guides". Guess I missed a couple references to the old menu name though, oops!

Thanks for finding the issue for me. I won't be pushing an update especially for this, but I'll probably release another update in a week or two (I want to try and do updates every two weeks at the longest from now on).

Minimap Menu Problem fixed for 2.1.4

The fix for this problem is in 2.1.4 .

I ran across it while testing a fix for another bug and rediscovered the same change.

It forgot what quests were completed on upgrade

I just upgraded to 2.1.2 (I didn't add the new Dailies module yet), and questing in Desolace, but it unchecked all of the quests but 4. The 50 to 100+ quests before those 4 are unchecked even though they were done before.... It did reload the correct guide I was working on (though I wasn't in Desolace at the time but Stormwind when I logged back in).

Jiyambi's picture

Yes, I should put a note

Yes, I should put a note about that. One of the changes we made was a change to the location of the savedvariables. Unfortunately this means the guide will loose your progress once - but if you reset the guide you are working on it should be able to catch back up.

I'll note this in the news post, sorry about that!

Also TomTom is not working. And I keep getting mesage: Wow-Pro: Zone not found. Using current zone.

The addon is not working for me at all. i noticed some one mentioned this problem before in this section but I couldn't find a solution post yet.

edit: I deleted WTC,Cache and interface folders and installed the latest versions of Wow-pro and TomTom again. Problem still exists.

Is there a way to get around this so the addon wroks properly? Thanks.
