Introduction

Baradin Hold is the Cataclysm equivalent to Vault of Archavon in Wrath. It’s a pretty simple raid instance located in the Battleground Tol Barad. You can only access this raid when your faction (Alliance/Horde) has control of Tol Barad. The bosses in Baradin Hold drop PVP hands and legs and Tier 11-13 hands and legs for all classes. It consists of 3 bosses right now but the number increases as a set of tier and PVP gear comes, the bosses are:
Argaloth, T11 and Vicous Gladiator’s gear.

Occu’thar, T12 and Ruthless Gladiator’s gear.

Alizabal, T13 and Cataclysmic Gladiator’s gear.

Now I’ll go through the different spells and mechanics of every boss and the tactics to deal with them.

Argaloth

This is what you might call the first boss in the raid even though you don’t have to start with it and you don’t have to kill it at all if you don’t want to. The encounter is very simple and straightforward and it’s mostly just a tank and spank.

For this encounter you NEED two tanks, the rest is pretty much up to you. Argaloth has a pretty short enrage timer but with current gear level enraging shouldn’t be a problem whatsoever. The raid must be split into two equal sized group one on each side of Argaloth with one tank in each group. When the encounter starts, one of the tanks taunt the boss and thus make him face his group. The other group stands on the other side of the boss. The reason we split the raid in two is because of Meteor Slash. It deals 200k damage in a frontal cone divided over all targets. And it adds a debuff which increases fire damage taken by 100% for 20 seconds, thus you don’t want to eat two of these in a row. So when the first group has taken one hit from meteor slash, the other tank should taunt and eat one meteor slash and then the other tank taunts and so on for the entire fight.

Another thing to worry about is Consuming Darkness.
It deals a significant amount of shadow damage that increases over time, so this needs to be dispelled as quickly as possible.

At 66 and 33% health Argaloth casts Fel Firestorm During this spell simply spread out and run around and avoid the patches of fire, any damage taken simply needs to be healed through. When the fire disappears head back to your assigned group and start over with the meteor slash rotation.

And that’s all there is to this fight, it’s really simple.

Occu’thar

This encounter is slightly more complicated than Argaloth but it’s still pretty simple.
First of all you need two tanks like Argaloth and they also have to rotate with taunts similar to the Argaloth encounter. The spell is Searing Shadows But this spell requires the tanks face the boss AWAY from the raid because the damage of this spell doesn’t split among multiple targets. The remainder of the raid should stand on either side of Occu’thar.

The DPS and healer’s have two abilities to worry about. Focused fire and Eyes of Occu’thar. Focused fire targets a random raid member and soon after a big puplish void appears beneath the location. Obviously you need to run away from these voids. The animation is very obvious as Occu’thar targets the player with a very distinct pink beam.

The other ability latches an eye onto every raid member that deals damage over time and if it survives for 10 seconds, it explodes for around 25k shadow damage. The raid should stack up behind the boss (which should be clear of purplish voids) and AoE down the eyes, after that quickly split up to the sides again.

This is basically the entire fight and there’s not much more to it.

Alizabal

This encounter similar to the other bosses in the way that there are also three abilities that you need to worry about. This encounter also requires two tanks like the other bosses. The tanks should basically stand on top of each other in front of the boss while the rest of the raid stacks up(on top of each other) behind the boss.

As i said the boss has three abilities Skewer, Seething Hate and Blade Dance

The first spell, Skewer, is a spell that only the tanks need to worry about, she will cast this spell on the tank which stuns him/her for 8 seconds deals some damage over time and increases damage taken by a whopping 150%. Obviously as soon as one tank is skewered the other tank needs to taunt and then when he/she is skewered the first tank taunts back etc.

The second spell, Seething Hate is the reason for the stack up behind the boss. This targets a random raid member and gives him a debuff that deals around 200k damage spread over the players in a 6 yard radius. It’s a pretty small radius so you have to basically stack up on top of each other behind the boss. If one of the tanks gets the debuff quickly run into the back of the boss and then quickly run back to be ready to taunt when the skewer comes. There’s around 8 seconds until the next skewer so there is plenty of time for the tank to run to the back and then back to the front of the boss. The tank that is tanking won’t (I think) be targeted by Seething Hate.

The third spell is similar to Lord Marrowgar’s blade storm in ICC, all you have to do is spread out and avoid the boss’ bladestorm.

That’s all there is to the encounter and also all there is to this Raid. Good luck and have fun with the bosses and enjoy your (possibly) new gear!!
