WoD Status 6.0.2 18865 (Sept 15)

Ludovicus_Maior's picture

Sorry about the delay. I kinda forgot that I was going to be on call at work 24/7 for a week ending today and it kinda sucked up a lot of free time.

I have been spending what free time I did have trying to figure out why the waypoint arrow was not working right and have managed to correct the code in WoWPro, TomTom, Astrolabe, and LibMapData. But now waypoints show on both the mini-map and on the world-map.
I need to get my suggested corrections back out to the respective developers.

The base and leveling add-on for WoD are both working pretty well right now, thanks to tons of bug reporting work by Emmaleah. The recorder still has some issues which I am working on.

I did take the time to analyze the quest data that Wowhead has data-mined and I will

  1. Tanaan Jungle, A/H (no quest data)
  2. Shadowmoon Valley, Alliance
  3. Frostfire Ridge, Horde
  4. Gorgrond, Alliance and Horde (80A/17B/78H)
  5. Talador, Alliance and Horde (86A/23B/75H)
  6. Spires of Arak, Neutral (43A/79B/34H)
  7. Nagrand, Alliance and Horde (81A/49B/69H)

Given that each zone seems to be targeting about 100 quests per zone, I think some of the Wowhead data is likely to be wrong.

I'll create the pages and then let everything get sorted out.

Emmaleah will coordinate the Horde Guides. I'll coordinate the Alliance and Neutral guides.

The current addon for both WoD Beta and PTR is here: https://github.com/Jiyambi/WoW-Pro-Guides/archive/Draenor.zip

Guide Source Rework and Working TomTom

I have added new expansion specific buttons to the main source code page and moved the guides down to their specific pages.

I think I had added new icons for all the mislabled "neutral" guides.

I also created a WoD page with new Icons and migrated most of the guides from Emmaleah's blog to wiki pages and linked them in.

I have not figured out how to handle the Blasted lands intros yet.

A working version of the Ace3 libraries and the TomTom addon can be found here:  https://s3.amazonaws.com/WoW-Pro/Ludo_Ace_and_TomTom_for_WoD.zip

Zone Change LUA Error

Is there a fix to the LUA error on every zone change?

Re: Zone Change LUA Error

I thought I fixed that awhile ago.

Can you give me the traceback?

Ok, maybe I should check that

Ok, maybe I should check that the download I download doesn't have a number in brackets! Looks like I was extracting an older file (duh!)

Waypoint Wrong Zone

I have a waypoint with the tag |Z|Blasted Lands| but it's put the location in Badlands instead of Blasted Lands.

Re: Waypoint Wrong Zone

Looks like I have a bad bug in my WoD zone names code.

I was recording the terrain name instead of the zone name as the key.

I will regenerate.

Re: Re: Waypoint Wrong Zone

I just corrected the WoD build zones files.

It correctly placed a waypoint in the Blasted Lands.

It still has some duplicate entries in the map I need to expunge.

Thanks for those. There's

Thanks for those.

There's also a page at http://wow-pro.com/node/3187 (Addon > Community Page > Report a Bug for a Specific Page) that has a list of all zones 1 to 90 but not WoD zones.

Re: Report a Bug for a Specific

I'm gonna nuke that page.  Having 2 places to look for comments is too much.

Nuke 3187

Did you get a chance to nuke it, as it's still linked to in the "Report a bug for a specific guide" link on 3189

Ludovicus_Maior's picture

Re: Nuke 3187

Nope, no time to reconstruct it yet.

The bug reports have not slowed down one bit!

Thanks, also, Tanaan Jungle that is posted here ... is a neutral guide, and is lvl 90. Eventually (sometime after launch) they will be releasing the rest of Tanaan Jungle and it is going to be lvl 100 content.  ... dailies??

Re: Tanaan Jungle

Interesting.   Another zone with split level content.

I had noticed that in Outland, we really need a neutral "Outland" guide to catch all the level 70 quests that are scattered all over the place.

Perhaps we should have a "Draenor" guide for the level 100 content....

The Cinematics are still

The Cinematics are still causing problems with the quest guide, which doesn't move onto the next step.

For example, I have:
C The Portal's Power |QID|34393|N|Enter Gul'dan's prison|NC|QO|1|M|54.9,51.1|Z|Tanaan Jungle|
C The Portal's Power |QID|34393|N|Mark of the Blackrock destroyed|NC|QO|2|M|56.1,50.1|Z|Tanaan Jungle|

Between these two steps, there's a cinematic showing Gul'dan. Once the cinematic's finished, the quest guide shows a tick in the box on the screen, but doesn't move onto the next step.

If I untick then retick the box, I get a stack overflow error:

Can I make a request,

Can I make a request, actually this is for all the guides (which I'd like to say is awsome (with only a few minor glitches as to waypoints, but I digress)), is it possible when putting in the waypoints to flag when we're going to go over (not in draenor, obviously no flying, but the other guides) the opposit faction's cities/towns to either warn, this could get you into a pvp situation or re-rout the waypoints around the city/town? Probably too many variables to be effective, such as what direction we're flying from, what angle we're flying through, etc, but I've hit it a lot in the guides for outland and northrend. Strolling (flying) along, minding my own business heading back to, oh, say Winterhoof, when out of the blue, one hit, knock me off my mount and I hit the ground dead. Also just happened in Dragonblight, flying back to Agmar's Hammer and run over Stars' Rest, oops, got hit, down. Anyway, if it's possible can we get the waypoints to make a wide berth around opposit faction towns and such? Or, in the guide warn that it may take you over enemy territory. Especially if it's the first time flying there and you don't know there is even a town there let alone an enemy town. Thanks. :)

Re: The Cinematics are still

Grrr.  Sounds like the guide update got swallowed up and the next step was not selected.

It looks like you tickled the stack overflow by trying to skip the quest turnin, and the quest dependencies (hey, did you put those quests into Grail?) then were in the process of creating  a giant dialog box to warn you against taking such a rash action.

I'll see if we can iterate to generate that list instead of recursing.

I'll run the guide myself shortly to catch a debug log around the cinematic.

Grail was not harmed in the

Grail was not harmed in the making of this guide :)
No Grail, no TomTom, no Carbonite. If wishing made it so on the latter two though!

The guide I'm using is also not on the site, as I haven't found the pages for them yet.

Ludovicus_Maior's picture

Re: Grail was not harmed in the

Keep an eye out.  I'm going to post a copy of a doctored TomTom that mostly works :-).

I now know too much about how maps work.

Ludovicus_Maior's picture

Buttons

As a side effect of my explorations, I now finally have access to the full set of game icons.

So I am now:

  1.  Making proper Neutral buttons
  2. Making pretty new buttons for the WoD zones.

The source code page has also kida gotten big.  I am going to break it up into a group of pages.

  • A Leveling Guide Page with sub categories for Vanilla, Burning Crusade, Wrath of the Lich King, Cataclysm, Mists of Pandaria, and WoD
  • An Acheivments Guide Page
  • A Dailies Guide Page
  • A World Events Guide Page
  • A Profession Guide Page

As I add Icons, things are going to get slower and bigger.  The new addon for Pandaria now has icons for most guides, even the non-leveling ones.  So the number of graphics is gonna go through the roof!

Wowhead Datamined Quests

Ive noticed wowhead is wrong on some of the Horde/Alliance tags. I can't think of specific examples but I know there were quests I went to look up by QID that I had in my (Horde) log that WoWhead said were Alliance Quests.

Arak may be suitable for a nuetral guide, Its where I am starting tomorrow, but if someone wants to take my horde  guide (when I finally post it) and turn it neutral, thay may be a viable plan.
