Revision of Jame's Horde Leveling Guide from Mon, 2009-02-02 16:40

Now also available as an Addon!
If you need guides for any other level range (or race) please check out this page.
Tips
If you don't want to try the Addon Version, here's how to enjoy the guides as much as possible, even if you don't have a 2nd monitor, you can either:
1. Print the guides. There is a "Printer Friendly Version" link at the bottom of every guide, you just have to click on it. However, that might be expansive (and probably expensive), because the guides are big, very big. Another downside is that my guides are updated very frequently, so if you print it you'll miss the latest updates.
2. Playing WOW in Windowed Mode feels very comfortable while following along with this guide.
- Keep the guide opened in an internet window
- Log in to World of Warcraft, press Escape and go to Video Options, tick the following boxes:
Click on "Apply".
Your screen will look exactly as if you were playing wow in full screen mode, besides you will be able to ALT-TAB to the guide INSTANTLY.
This is how I play wow while following my guide, when I don't feel like booting up my 2nd computer

Just want to say thanks for
Just want to say thanks for the amazing guides. I have used them to level to 70 and now in WOTLK, and even though I didn't get to use your Grizzly Hills and beyond guides, by attempting to emulate your methods I ended up being one of the first in my guild to ding 80 and would have easily been the first lock on my server had I not needed to work. As I was leveling i would check to see competitor locks levels and the fastest guy was only a level ahead of me and I hadn't played the first 3 days.
Tanks again for the amazing guides.
Quote:the fastest guy was
I think that speaks for itself as to how fast my guides can make you level in comparison to anything else, because I'm sure that guy was using something
Leveling Rate
James,
I first wanted to say thank you for all your efforts, you are a great asset to the WoW community.
Now on to my question, in your "Optimized Quest Circuits" page, you state that you can achieve 620000 XP/hour are these numbers based on the Wotlk beta or are you getting these on patch 3.0.3? I am no where near those numbers (~200000/hr or 8-9hrs/lvl). I'm just wondering what I'm doing wrong.
Keep in mind that he did
Keep in mind that he did that xp rate with a very good geared rogue on the beta, but I think that you can actually do better than 200k xp / hour. Maybe it is because of the overpopulation or you might took some time for level the professions? I think that anyone can aim to 400k xp/hour with some good sessions!
Exactly what Benhir
Exactly what Benhir said.
On beta I was really all alone in Dragonblight when I did that circuit, I had no competition at all for the mobs, which speeds things up.
The rogue was in full epics from BT/Sunwell, which helped too.
However, on live I'm still staying in above 400K XP/hour most of the time and peaking at 500K sometimes. That's with the hunter and with the mage (in quest greens).
I think it has a lot to do with how you follow my guides: Are you on a PvP server? Do you play during peak times with lots of overcrowding? Do you have gathering skills?
And also, if this is your fist time following my guide and doing those quests, it's normal that you don't do them as fast as me, since I know them pretty much by heart already.
The 2nd time you'll follow my guide, for your alts, you'll see how much faster you'll level
time
i agree this guide is excellent in assuring i dont waste my time doing quests that wont help me much and take too much time, and yet i still dont know how people can go from level 1-70 in 7 days. How do they find the time to do that? I dont even always go up 1 lvl in a day and this is a problem cuz im getting wrath of the lich king in 2 weeks and my highest lvl character is lvl 37. Can someone give me some tips on how to use my time wisely to level up ATLEAST one level everyday to level 55? Thank you and by the way awesome guide. i used to go around doing every quest in a territory and wander aimlessly around trying to figure out wer to go, but with your guide it's so much easier and quicker. Great Job!

Hey Jame!!
When are the next leveling guides coming out beyond Dragonblight? Your guides are so helpfulllllll!
Thank you!
Just wanted to say thank you for your wonderful guides Jame!
I had to take a long hiatus from WoW(about 2 years lol)and when I came back about 6 months ago, I found my friends had moved to another server and created characters on Horde side. Having to start from the ground up again I thought about looking up a leveling guide to speed things up. Some quick searching found either everything had to be paid for, or was free but horribly vague and still left much of the quest information up to me to figure out.
Then I found your guides, and I am so very happy I did! You offer easier step-by-step and more in-depth questing information than any other guide out there... and offer it for free! Following Snowflake/Hosho's beginner guides and your 21-70 guides, I managed to get my Mage and Warrior both to 70 in 7-9days /played time each!
I'm currently following your Northrend guides and am thankful you've made them so quickly or else I'd probly have missed out on some hilariously funny quests. Such as the DEHTA quest where you put on a murloc suit. Best. Quest. Ever.
Thank you again Jame!
Awesome
No worries, I won't ever
No worries, I won't ever stop writing guides, as long as blizzard puts out new content

Absolutely Outstanding!
Jame,
I just found your guides with the release of WotLK thanks to WorldofRaids.com and, I must say, they are fabulous. I'm just about through Dragonblight on my main, so I'm excited to hear that you're working on guides for the rest of the zones. I'll just start leveling another toon through Northrend while I wait.
Once again, great job, and thank you.
WOW
Jame your guide is awesome and its the only think that helped me get to level 75(thanks to raids also) and i am currently on your dragonblight guide:) is it possible that you will post the next part of your guide tomorrow or after tomorrow?i am not forcing or rushing you, but could you please tell me approxemtaly when the next part will be out:) tyvm and sorry if i am being rude or anything.
It's gonna take longer than
It's gonna take longer than that I'm afraid. About a week, maybe less, maybe more. Really can't estimate it well atm, I got too much going on.
Check Release Dates often and you'll know as soon as I know
Total Time
Do you have a ballpark figure for total /played from 1-60 with the new guide and new total xp required? What about 1-70. I'm considering jumping into WoW again but was curious what timeframe I'm looking at to make it to the new content at 70.
I'm guessing about 6 days
I'm guessing about 6 days /played (that's without any rested bonus). Of course it also depends on your class, gear, playstyle, etc.
awesome guides, and a quick question.
Thnaks, your guides are awesome, but i have one question, I'm starting a priest and was wondering if I could use you guide if I spec holy? I know that you say at the beggining of every chapter to spec with what will do the highest damage, but I plan on pvping for a while when i hit the 9s, so is it still possible to use your guide or will it be too hard? thanks again for sucjh wonderful guides.
Definitely possible. I've
Definitely possible. I've heard numerous reports who said they followed my guide as holy and had no probs at all.
I confirmed, I followed them
I confirmed, I followed them with a Holy priest without any problem, before the patch which converted +heal into +spell - doing most of my damages with my wand!
It's just slower - but I think you have guessed that too
I've used the guides as a
I've used the guides as a resto druid with similar results. Currently specced a combo of resto and boomkin to level to 80, but I might go back to strait resto for the instance factor. It is a little slower but if you instance a lot its worth it!
Thanks!
Absolutely awesome guide! I'm lvl 60 now (close to 61) with just about 6 days of /played time (and that's with the quest npc's, mobs, flight masters, and me being constantly killed during the zombie event + my short attention span lol). Now I've started working on my 2nd character (cause of the number of DK's making efficient Outland questing nearly impossible right now) and am going to be using your guide again the moment I hit 21
For this character and every character after it lol
I've also made sure to tell everyone in my guild and on my friends list about your guides.
Thanks again!
Glad to hear that, please
Glad to hear that, please keep spreading the word
Awesome guide!
Hey Jame, first off: Awesome guide! It's way better than Joana's wall of text guide etc.
But sadly, i've already reached the end of 75 (well almost) and i was thinking if there were a zone or two that your guide weren't covering i could level in while waiting for 76-80?
Best regards Ace
your super amazing guide (duh)
so my first character i leveled alone, an orc shaman i got to 70 in EIGHTEEN days /played time
then i heard about your guide... and i didnt start following it till 31 on my UD rogue, but magically that bad start + 2 professions to a reasonable lever, with this guide I'm currently 46 with 4 1/2 days /played time... thats incredible, and i got from 41 to 46 all yesterday
thanks al ot Jame, honestly the best guide, ever.
My guide will cover every
My guide will cover every zone, so don't worry too much about it.
Just wanna say thanks
Hey Jame,
Just wanna thank you for the time and effort you have put into these guides, I have leveled a undead warrior to 71 so far, using your guide since lvl 21, and have had no problems at all, great work and keep it up

Benevolence
Your guides are awesome, and the fact that you give them away shows true quality of character.
Undoubtedly you should be enshrined to every hall of fame in the wow universe.

Grizzy Hills Guide
Hey Jame,
I've been using your guides for as long as I can remember, since there was only the alliance one. I was wondering when your Grizzly Hills guide would be up? I'm level 74 and haven't started Dragonblight yet (used your guide, only did 1 Nexus and 1 UK run, 0 grinding) and don't want to have to fend for myself. So any word would be nice.
To end... you're awesome and thanks for helping the WoW community for so long.

I'm not exactly sure yet
I'm not exactly sure yet sadly. I've got a lot going on right now, things I had put aside to finish as much as I could before the release.
And now I also have to level my characters up to grizzly hills before I can resume my work on them
So all this is slowing me down.
I'd say it's gonna take me another week, I'll try to make it happen faster, but no promises.
Check the release dates and my blog regularly for updates.
Guides
Hi. I have used your Guides for quite some time now (the first one was way back about 2 years ago, before TBC). And I really need to say this - they are perfect. So detailed, making every step of the way easy and adorable and helping me get leveling organized but definetly not borings. Thanks again and keep it up!
Thank you And please spread
Thank you
And please spread the word, that's all I ask!
Classes.
First of all, I have to say I really love your guides. They've helped a lot, and I'm not sure what I'd do without them.
But, I have a question. I'm curious as to what class(es) you've done this guide with, and which ones are fastest?
Thanks
Hunter, Mage, Rogue, Druid
Hunter, Mage, Rogue, Druid (feral), Warrior, Shaman (enhancement), Priest (shadow). Basically did them with all classes besides Pal and warlock.
Fastest was Hunter, unsurprisingly.
is this the outland?
I was following your 55-61 DK guide, and at the end you talk about your outland guide, which one is it? Is it just the 60-70s on this page?
P.S.
Great job, I've been following your guides for a while and their great!
Yes the outland guides are
Yes the outland guides are the 60-70...
Thank you
Just like to say thanks on all the guides. ^^ keep it up
Hi! I have leveled two
Hi! I have leveled two characters to 70 with your guides, big thanks for you, you would be rich man if you would put these on sale ^^
Anyway I have a problem, I was planning to start from Borean Tundra because I really like that zone and I would like to check nexus out , I am on horde side. But here is the problem, your horde guide starts from Howling fjord so I tought that is it harder to level in howling fjord than in Borean tundra or did you just choose it to be first zone your are in because you like it? Thanks
It's just more efficient
It's just more efficient that way. I explained why in this blog article.
You don't have to follow this order, but anyway you should do both Howling Fjord AND Borean Tundra, so why not do it in the more efficient order?
WotLK
Any suggestions for upcoming DK's on where to start in on your guides or any possibility of a DK guide to help figure out the pre-req quests?
55-61: Follow my Death
55-61: Follow my Death Knight Leveling Guides
61-70: Follow my Outland Leveling Guides (the normal one for all classes) - start from the very beginning and keep following it normally until you ding 70, even if you're far ahead of my guide in levels and killing green stuff (green quests are awesome by the way!)
You can even follow the outland guides until you finish them, that will get you level 71, possibly level 72 before going to Northrend, and that will make everything a breeze.
Ah i missed the DK page, ty

Thank you so much for your guides. I quit WoW, but I saw your guides and decided to give it a go. Without you, I would have not started WoW again. Thanks so much! Me and my brother love leveling together with your guides. Thanks a bunch!
