| The Cooking / Fishing Combo Guide for Alliance players
5 Average: 5 (1 vote) This guide is intended to give you simple step-by-step directions to get your level 40+ Alliance character from zero to 300 in both cooking and fishing at the same time. It is not the only way to skill-up these professions, but it is a very easy way that requires a minimum of travel and keeps you in relatively safe areas. I created this guide because the only fishing/cooking combination guides I could find were written for horde characters. I used bits of this guide as a starting point and filled it out with specifics for us good guys. All drop percentages and location details were borrowed from Thottbot and Allakhazam. A note on fishing: Fishing levels up at the same rate no matter where you fish. It is entirely possible to go from 1 to 300 skill points without ever leaving a newbie zone (except for training and the artisan quest, obviously). This would be incredibly boring and you wouldn't get all the useful / lucrative fish (not to mention not being able to skill-up cooking at the same time), but it will take no longer than if you fish in level-appropriate areas.
Apprentice fishing and cooking (1-75)
Journeyman Fishing and Cooking (50-150)
Expert Fishing and Cooking (125-225)
Artisan Fishing and Cooking (225-300)
Good luck, happy fishing, and bon apetit!

Nice guide for the
Nice guide for the fishing/cooking combo. You might want to add in there when out fishing to always fish the wreckage sites and active pools of water for specific fish. Can't cook them, but a nice bit of extra coin!

This guide is fun
This guide is fun and very relaxing when you are tired of grinding!
I would add the Blump fishing quest in Auberdine just to get your starting fishing skill up & then have a nice pole to fish with for awhile (and the bauble you get in the mail after you have done it!).
When you are in Redridge you can kill pigs for the boar meat if you get REALLY tired of fishing.
Thanks for all the research & hard work

Thanks
Do not know what to say everyone has already sad it, this is a wonderful guide. It helped me enormously, so just want to say thanks for a great guide. Keep it up and pleas post more useful guides.
Excellent Guide
Excellent guide. It seems, however, that spotted yellowtail now go gray well before you reach 300. The Verdantis River is a good spot to get Raw Sunscale Salmon and/or Raw Nightfin Snapper (what you catch apparently varies by time). Those recipes don't go gray until 295 and are available in Steamwheedle Port.
After that, you can fish for Large Raw Mightfish, and make Mightfish steak . That recipe is for sale in Feralas (either Feathermoon Stronghold or Camp Mojache), and the fish can be found in Winterspring.
wow what a guide!!!

Very good guide, and quit
Very good guide, and quit honestly telling it as it is. Fishing is the devil's work. THE DEVIL! Wars have been fought, fortunes have been made (and lost), children have been raised...by the time you get your fishing to 300.
Happy huntin:-)
I think it ain't too hard. I
I think it ain't too hard. I found the Deviate Supreme Recipe a couple days ago and started fishing then, now i'm skill 255 within 3 days just from fishing in the barrens. Oh and the Deviat Supremes sell sooo good. They go out for ~10-15G/stack.
