World of Warcraft has always been a game that thrives on standing out from the crowd. Whether you’re hunting for a rare mount or a legendary weapon, all that hard work and sacrifice pays off as you stand in the middle of Stormwind or Orgrimmar flaunting your new loot.

Low drop rates are a key tenet in hooking players for any online game. While collectors will always be up for the grind, even more casual players will enjoy the hit of chancing upon the rarest of items in their daily lives. This doesn’t just apply to WoW of course – League of Legends has its collection of variably rare skins, Team Fortress has the much-enjoyed hats, and even the likes of the BetMGM casino thrives on the back of low-odd wins.

Here are the five items with the lowest drop rates in the game:

1. The Big Love Rocket

This mount holds the title of the rarest item in the game. Claim this mount through the Love is in the Air event. It’s a Valentine’s Day world event, which means you can only grind for it once per year.

Introduced in Cataclysm, its drop rate is just 1 in 3333. During the two-week event, you only have one opportunity per day of claiming this rare mount.

2. Teebu’s Blazing Longsword

An estimated 4.74m subscribers continue to play the game. If you’ve ever checked the auction house for epics, the chances are good that you’ve seen Teebu’s Blazing Longsword. It’s nothing more than a sword wreathed in billowing fire.

It can be found by looting the Core Hounds in Molten Core and lockboxes that need to be pickpocketed from specific mobs in both the Blackrock Depths and Lower Blackrock Spire dungeons.

Even in WoW Classic, its drop rate is still extremely low. It’s much easier to search for its successor Teebu’s Scorching Straight Sword instead.

3. The Chromatic Sword

For years, the Chromatic Sword was removed from the game. This sparkling fantasy sword was later reintroduced in both retail and classic.

It can only be looted from Scale Belly, who roams the Cape of Stranglethorn. This elite mob can take anywhere from one to three hours to respawn. Collectors regularly park alts in his respawn location to tag the mob and see if the sword will drop.

4. Rhinestone Sunglasses

Want to look fabulous? Rhinestone Sunglasses are some of the rarest sunglasses in the game due to how rare the crafting recipe is.

Firstly, you must have the Jewelcrafter profession on the character you want to grind with. The recipe can drop from any mob in the Cataclysm and Mists of Pandaria expansions. However, every mob has just a 0.01% chance of dropping the recipe.

Check out some new player guides for the easiest locations to grind mobs in these expansions.

5. High Society Top Hat

The High Society Top Hat looks exactly as you would imagine. The crafting recipe drops from rare and elite mobs in the Cataclysm expansion. However, you need to be a tailor to get the item to drop.

Learn to create the item and each hat can sell for millions of gold. It’s may be the best rare item because it generates such an amazing financial return.

Conclusion

Grinding for these items requires a huge amount of time and luck. Completionist players who want a challenge may decide to tackle these long grinds.

These are just five of the items with the lowest drop rates in the game. Be prepared to potentially spend months farming each one!
