How to convert Jame’s Guides into .lua files

This wiki page will help us track who has volunteered to help translate sections of Jame’s Levelling Guides into Jahwo’s Addon, so that we can finally publish an addon that will enable people following Jame’s Guide to do so without alt-tabbing.

Tool: Perl tool I’m currently writing this guide using a small(-ish? 😉 ) Perl script for auto wowheading quests/npcs/etc. I realize some people got curious about the script, so here it is. It is far from perfect and focused on the 21-31 Horde guide, but I figured I’d put it in public domain. (Updated 28/01/2009)
Note: HA! Also note that I haven’t even played step 1 of this guide yet! 😀 For all I know it doesn’t even work. lol

Since I had already startedWell, since i had already started it I figured I’d finish my alliance hellfire guide. I’m going to try it out this weekend, but if anyone else can give it a run I’d appreciate it. The file is [url=http://hosted.filefront.com/Lycander/]here[/url].

Durotar 1-12I’ve finished all the class quest lines in Durotar, fixed every step with auto-completes and moved the Mage training to the correct locations (there is no mage trainer in Razor Hill :()

I think I’ve come to some optimal integration, including 2 options for the Shaman ‘Call of Fire’ quest line:
– right away
– integrated with minimum extra travel time.

Alliance Hellfire GuideI’ve been working on a Hellfire guide as I go through the zone. I was actually planning on doing the entire 60-65 guide, but I notice that it’s separated by zone here. Should it be kept that way, or is can/should I just keep going with the full guide?

WoW-Pro Horde guides progressionI’ve finally managed to completely run The Barrens 12-20 guide with my priest and dinged 21.5 in about 20h /played (that is including fixing the .lua while ‘AFK’).

The Jame’s 21-31 guide has been finished today as well. I’ve started adding class quests quests
Not Paladin for ‘Sense Undead’: this is trainable.
And Warlock and Warriors will have to wait ’till I’ve added them.
But most notably is the Call of Water&Air quest line integration with the steps of the guide. It takes a few more levels but cuts the most travel time.

I’ve also taken the liberty of adding all Riding trainers at level 30 per race… yeah I did.

I’ll try to test this one too (and add class all quests).
But I will need some help testing these since I don’t intend on leveling all those classes 😉

Big thanks to Rioshin for this great additions to this already wonderful AddOn!

Alliance DragonblightI think it’s ready. Stephinroth has been through once and I’ve gone through once, although I did make quite a few changes.

It would be nice to have someone go through one more time before we put it in the add-on, just to make sure.

Snowflake’s 1-12 Draenei guideIn the Snowflake’s 1-12 draenei guiude, at step 121 (The quest [All That Remains]) WoW-Pro tells you to go back to the questgiver, but the arrow points to the south saying I have to go 6265 (yards I guess?) to the south to deliver it, when I’m standing on the quest NPC.

The problem is that the NPc is in the Vailing Sea.

Close….I thought I’d get through Alliance Dragonblight this weekend, but too many things happened.

Stephinroth did a first run through (THANKS!!!) and I’m going through again. I didn’t like some of the steps and have moved some things around again. Once I’m completely through I’d like one more pass, either with one of my toons or with a 3rd party, then I think Dragonblight is ready to go.

Stephinroth has what I have finished of Grizzly Hills (about 80% or so) and will send me back errors (thanks again!!!). I’m much happier with it than I was with Dragonblight so I think a second pass will be all that’s needed on it and it will be ready to go.

If Zul’Drak isn’t ready by then, I’ll give some of the Outland guides a shot if there’s someone available to test them.

My wife leaves town early Thursday morning and won’t be home until sometime Saturday afternoon or evening. That means that I won’t be stuck doing “honey-do’s” on Thursday and Friday evening, as well as most of Saturday, so I’ll hopefully be free to get some “important” things done!! LOL

Snowflake’s Draenei StartingSnowflake’s Draenei Starting Guide is finished, includes class quests, and has been updated with the new features of Wow-Pro Addon v0651.

I also updated Jame’s Alliance 30-40 with the new features as well. I’d already run through it once and fixed errors, but it could use another run through. I won’t have another toon at level 30 for another week at least.

I expect Jame’s Alliance 40-50 to be done by the end of this month (after a full run-through and barring more extra features to add 🙂 ).

The reason regZone wasn’tThe reason regZone wasn’t working these three times for Stormwind is because it should say

Thanks!I think I have everything fixed. I’ve changed the wording on some of the steps and made some other changes. I’m still working my Hunter through the area.

Before I post the Grizzly Hills guide, I’ll do a run through to catch the “fat finger” errors.

I finished getting my Death Knight through Borean Tundra this evening. Forgot I had to help a guy sheetrock his bathroom today so I didn’t get as much done as I would have liked to. I have to work on my wife’s work computer some tomorrow, but I’m hoping that I can get my Hunter through quite a bit of Dragonblight also.

I probably could take over.I probably could take over. It might be a few weeks, depending on how much time it will take me to code and test the next few guides I have in line.

I understand about having to start from scratch with the new changes. I was tempted to do that with the Alliance 30-40, but it would be too much to do. Just easier to go through and edit/add more auto-complete conditions.

HelfireI had the helfire guide but life has gotten really intense at home so I haven’t had much of a chance to work on it in the last 3 weeks. If you want to take it over I would be more than happy to let you. I had most of it parsed but with all the updates recently would probably be starting over from scratch anyway.
