WoW-Pro Addon Update – v2.1.2 + WoW-Pro Dailies BETA!

Current Version: 2.1.2
Last Update: Jan. 15, 2011
Finally, we’ve got another update! I want to apologize for how long this one took, folks – things have been hectic for me!

The highlights for this update include:

  • MASSIVE updates to almost every guide, as we incorporate the suggestions and bug fixes from YOU, our community!
  • Shadowmoon Valley guide for the Alliance, both Aldor and Scryer versions, written by Crackerhead22. Cracker has contributed quite a few high quality addon guides, and this one is no exception!
  • Re-design of some of the “under the hood” features of the addon to prepare it for the new modules that are in development.
NOTE: These updates mean you may loose the progress on your current guide when upgrading. If you reset the guide you are working on, the addon should be able to catch back up to where you are based on your completed quests. Sorry for the inconvenience, but we needed to make this change to support the new modules that are in development.

We also have several general bug fixes in this update, including the following:

  • Guide window cannot be moved off the screen
  • Guide window position now correctly resets on profile reset
  • Double clicking the guide window’s title bar to minimize it no longer breaks on quest update

While the current set of guides are still very high quality, we will be constantly working to improve and update these guides. Remember that if you notice a bug, you can help us by reporting it!

If you have trouble getting our addon to work, please check our Troubleshooting Page first. If you still need help, you can always stop by our friendly chat room!

WoW-Pro Dailies – BETA

I’m very pleased to announce that the WoW-Pro Dailies module has entered it’s beta testing phase! I’m not combining it into the main download until it has both a bit more content and a bit more testing, but it should be mostly ready to go. If you’d like to try it out and maybe even write some guides for it, please download using the button below.

WoW-Pro Dailies – BETA
Please remember that this is a BETA. There are only two guides currently in this module and one is Alliance only. We would love as much feedback as we can get about it, but please be patient and understanding with us as we get this awesome new feature up and running!

You can leave feedback for the dailies module as a comment on this page or on the main addon page for now. We will be getting some community pages set up for it in the future.

Coming Soon

In addition to constantly improving the guides we already have, the WoW-Pro team is currently working on three HUGE new additions to the WoW-Pro addon:

  • WoW-Pro Arrow – That’s right, our addon will have it’s own arrow soon! If you like TomTom or Carbonite, you can still use them instead of our arrow.
  • WoW-Pro Professions – One of our users is planning to write a professions module for our addon! You’ll get guides on how to level up your professions in game.
  • WoW-Pro Dungeons – We have two excellent developers working on the dungeon module, and I’m extremely excited to see what they can produce. Features will include dungeon quests, party chat printable boss advice, role specific help, and arrows to guide you through confusing dungeons (and to dungeon entrances),
  • WoW-Pro Reputation – The reputation module will probably be entering a beta phase very soon, and will cover all quests related to a particular faction, including dailies and normal quests.

Known Issues

Please note that while these guides have had a lot of time and effort put unto them, we haven’t been able to do thorough testing for all of them yet. There will be bugs. Feel free to report them on our community page!

Two known issues that will hopefully be fixed in the next update include:

  • Update to remember enabled/disabled state on /reload and relog
  • Loot counts will be more accurate (they are currently affected by client side lag)

Badlands quest errornot so much an error, but a mess up in the steps in the guide preventing another quest. it tells you to get ‘Down to the Scar’ at step 106 But you can’t since you already did The Day that Deathwing Came. AFter this problem it doesn’t tell you anything such as to get survival of the fittest and the next 4 steps and tells you to go to searing gorge.

I know I already said it onI know I already said it on the git site… but I just wanted to say thanks again for reworking the code! It will be nice only having to maintain one copy of each of those guides instead of two!

Rep TagSorry about that.  Scryer and Aldor was not something I considered when I wrote the code (an oversight on my part), and I’m in the process of fixing that.  The request that was made at the time was for a way to have a quest show if you were at that alignment or at a measured point beyond.  So |Rep|Scryers, Neutral| would be necessary to make it work, but would only work as long as you were neutral while accepting that quest.  Hope to have this fixed by the next update.

Also, what would be neededAlso, what would be needed for the opposing faction to be skipped?  For Aldor would it be something along the lines of |Rep|Scryers,Neutral| ?

Getting an error (below)Getting an error (below) while trying to test the Netherstorm guide I made. I noticed that if I don’t have a rep level with the name of the Faction needed for the quest, it causes the error, for example |Rep|Aldor|.

But if I have the rep level needed, for example |Rep|Aldor,Friendly|, it skips the quests, even if I have the rep level at Exalted.

THe recorder can be used,THe recorder can be used, though it’s slightly broken right now, and you’ll have to edit it afterward if you want the full functionality of the dailies module.

    Basically the only differences are:
[list][*]Steps don’t have to have a QID, but they should in most cases because…
[*]ALL steps with a QID, OTHER than “Accept” type steps (where you pick up quests) and “Note” type steps, are optional. This means they won’t show up if that QID is not in you quest log. This means you can use them for quests that aren’t always available!
[*]Accept steps can have multiple QIDs. This means that accepting ANY of the listed quests will make the step auto-complete. This is used when you have a chance of getting one of several different quests each day.
[*]Make sure to use the |Rep| tag when applicable. It’s being reworked right now and isn’t 100% functional at the moment, but it’s used like this: |Rep|Faction,RepLevelName|

Hope that helps, let me know if you have any specific questions!
