How To Install:

  1. Download the addon using the big shiny button.

  2. Download TomTom from WoW Interface or Curse. TomTom is important! Without it, you won't see the arrow telling you where to go! Get version v70000-1.0.0 or later.
  3. Unzip the downloaded files into your addons directory. (How do I unzip the file?)

    Windows 7/8 location:

      C:\Users\Public\Games\World of Warcraft\Interface\Addons

    Mac location:

      Macintosh Main HD/Applications/World of Warcraft/Interface/Addons
  4. Log into the game. In the lower left-hand corner of your character select screen, you should see an "Addons" button. Click it. The WoW-Pro addon and TomTom should both be listed. Make sure they are checked, and you're ready to go!

  5. If you have any trouble installing the guide, stop by our Addon Help Chat Room to get help!

You can also visit the WoW-Pro Leveling Addon Troubleshooting Guide, where you'll find a fix for most common issues.

A question...

First off, I love all the guides. I've been using them since I had to print them out. The thing is, I used them on Horde so I knew what I could and couldn't skip from doing it so much.

I'm now on Alliance, half way into 47 and I just got into the Guide "Swamp of Sorrows 44-45."

So, my question is, how would I differentiate between what guides I can and can't skip?

I know everything ties into each other, but things are getting Gray, and I know Green is Great, but Gray is not Sad...

Hello Kachi! Basically at

Hello Kachi!

Basically at this point in the guide's development, for the current 1-60 content, there's no easy way to tell.

HOWEVER! There is good news. In the new guides for Cataclysm, which we're busting chops to get finished, you'll be able to tell easily. I'll copy in my explanation, since I answered this a while ago for someone with a similar concern:

Jiyambi wrote:

We're doing two things with this. First, every step that depends on a previous step will be marked that way. So, when you try to skip a step, if a bunch of other quests depend on it, the addon will tell you and ask if you want to still skip it or not. This is good if you'd like to manually decide what steps to do.

In addition, we have a Completion Rank system in place in Cataclysm. The guide author marks quests as either a 1 (most important), 2 (out of the way and/or no follow ups) or a 3 (out of the way AND no follow-ups).

You then can choose to set you completion setting to 3 (the default, you do ALL quests, good for people going for Loremaster etc.), 2 (if you have a bit of extra XP, or just don't feel like doing unimportant quests, this should be great), or 1 (you have lots of XP bonuses and want to skip quests whenever possible).

Unfortunately this won't be implemented in the old guides, it would take FOREVER! But all of the new Cataclysm guides will have these features, and we will be revamping the Outland and Northrend guides to include them as well.

Hope that answers your question, let me know if you have any other questions or concerns!

Accounting for xp bonus.

Any way to do this within the addon?

Currently I simply ignore certain quests which I know are not part of a chain. This does two things:

1: i dont wind up way ahead of the guid in terms of levels
2: It goes much faster.

But, while my memory is pretty good I dont think I will be able to always know when I can and cannot ditch a quest, manually check them off and still be able to continue with the major portions of the guide.

For example, I wouldnt want to ignore and click past any of the ghostlands quests that lead up to the traitors destruction, but some others I do wish to skip.

Any plans for quests to be tagged and skippable in this fashion? Dont know what they could be called, but with a 20% increase (or more in cata) in XP I certainly do not need to do 100% of the quests to follow the guides.

This is definitely going to

This is definitely going to be taken into account for Cataclysm guides!

I am glad there are many

I am glad there are many like minded individuals working on this project.

Always a bonus when the game community are the people directly creating the mods.

I would also like to note that every single one of my characters has been leveled using a guide from this site.

I have been playing for years, and none of my characters ever made it to a max level without one. Mostly because the current quest system in the game doesnt follow much of a set path.

Thanks for the reply!

I will say, having played in

I will say, having played in the beta, that the new quests are MUCH more directed - you follow a common story-line through the zone, it's really amazingly well done. Many of the NPCs go from being faceless people telling you to "kill X, loot Y", to being awesome and quirky characters with their own stories. I just can't stress enough how GOOD the quests in the new expansion are!

That said, having a nice guide to follow is still something I love to have - it lets me relax, focus on the gameplay and the story and not where exactly in the map I'm supposed to be going and what order I should do things in.

Maw's Guide Typo

In Maw's guide for Elwynn Forest, step 17, it says to loot 12 Red Burlap Bandanas instead of the now-accurate 8.

Cataclysm Addon Update

Hi folks! I've updated the Cataclysm recorder package to include the most recent exploits of both Bitsem and myself. You can download it here.

If you have recorded files, send em in! I'll try to update this package every time a new guide section is completed. Thanks for all the hard work!

Addon Update - v1.7.0

Both the normal addon and the WoW-Pro Recorder have been updated! Here are the release notes. The download links for the main addon are above. For the recorder, you can download it by itself here, or with the main addon and all Cataclysm leveling guides here.

Current Version: 1.7.0

NOTE: This addon is still in a heavy development stage. It is recommended that you delete the WoWPro.lua file in your WTF folder when upgrading to the new version. However, this will result in the loss of manually checked off guide progress and display settings.

New Features

  • Several guide files have been updated
  • Keybindings added!
  • Custom print function tells you when it’s our addon talking to you
  • RECORDER: Auto-save now enabled!
  • RECORDER: Now records quest items!

Bug Fixes:

  • Serious crash issue related to quest items fixed!
  • Issue related to getting quest objectives fixed
  • Issue related to getting quest entries from the log fixed
  • Taint issues introduced by checking party members fixed
  • Addon now checks if item exists before attempting to set it as a use item.

Known Issues:

  • Unable to check off item - the step probably doesn't have a QID, which means it's a mistake in the guide file. There are sadly still a lot of these around. Try right-clicking the check box, or listing it as sticky. We'll fix these as they find them but we have to be focused more on Cataclysm guides right now. Sorry!
  • Profession Quest Error: Profession-specific quests currently cause the guide to throw an error, because of the changes to the profession window. Will be fixed in the next version!
  • Occasional crash/DC - the addon is causing occasional crashes and DCs. We are working to find the source of this issue - please report any occurrences of this so we can determine the problem! It may have to do with conflicting addons, so if you do experience this problem, try disabling other addons and see if that allows you to continue.

Troll Level 12-15

Here's what I amassed next. Didn't go to the Barrens, went to Lake Mennar area instead. My first hoardie this level in Beta, so not sure if all races mesh with Goblin, or if I should have gone to the Barrens to continue the Troll. May continue this quest chain before I go to Barrens to check it out.

Zangarmarsh Crash

I'm in Zangarmarsh, and when I start the game the guide is on Hellfire Peninsula. When I go to the guide list and select Zangarmarsh the game freezes, and I have to ctrl-alt-del to get out of it. I have deleted and reinstalled the addon, restarted my computer, and I have turned every addon off except wowpro, but the same thing happens when I select Zangarmarsh. This is confusing because I was using the Zangarmarsh guide yesterday fine, and I even selected it the same way (from the guide list). Also when I try to get to the Zangarmarsh guide from the end of the Hellfire guide (I clicked every box until the end) the game freezes as well.

Feedback needed again!

I need some feedback again for the WoWPro addon. I'm finishing up the implementation of some key bindings options, two in particular: to use the first item shown in the guide frame; and to use the first target button. Players will be able to re-bind these in the WoW keybindings options, but I need the default keys. I was thinking CTRL-SHIFT-I and CTRL-SHIFT-T, respectively. Thoughts?

Notes To Add To Guide: Professions in Sen'jin Village - Alchemy, Herbalism, Riding and Fishing (57.3,77.1)

Quest "Cleaning up the Coastline" - go S to kill crabs, not N. Then you can do "Breaking the Chain" at the same time, then turn both in at the Village.

Level 7: A-Riding On - after this step, train new skills
then talk to Raider Jhash (55.2,74.6) for ride

Razor Hill trainers : First Aid-Rawrk (54.1,42.0), Profession Trainer-Runda (52.9,41.9)

T Securing the Lines|QID|835|M|46.41,22.96|Z|Durotar|N|To Rezlak.|

Hope this is helpful. Smiling

I am DYING to test this again next week when I get back home. I do have a question for you. Is this live or Beta? I have actually leveled every race but troll ><

This is actually from the Beta.

I'm hoping to get familiar with the addon coding since it seems pretty easy with the recorder. I'm an altaholic, so love just running around doing random things. lol.

I have a couple of 80's on live, but not a lot of time for end game stuff. (I have little kids. And big kids. Sticking out tongue ) So, needless to say, running around with the recorder on is a ton of fun for me!

Great job on all the amazing content you've been posting!!!!!!

Yeah, this is an error on our side. I actually think I have this one fixed in our dev version, just need to push the changes to a downloadable package and I *think* you should be okay.

Hopefully will get that done today or tomorrow.

I have no error codes to post, but I've had to disable the guide all together. It doesn't d/c or crash my WoW, it crashes my entire computer! First my screen goes black, then flickers the resolution notification while switching between black and white screens. Then it goes blue with my OS error messages, forcing my computer to restart.

I feel lost without the guide, lol. So I'm eagerly awaiting a fix.

Awesome! Thanks for this,

Awesome! Thanks for this, glad the recorder is working for someone >_<

I still intend to put up some documentation, but things have been CRAZY over here, and I've been trying to get some bugs on the website fixed and some features added.

recording not working for me

I want to report that the recorder is not working for me.
When using register button, nothing happens. Did some questing and then tried to save but did get then a error message. (lua). Would it help if I copy paste that error here?

I was trying to record the dailys in Icecrouwn.

Unfortunately, because of

Unfortunately, because of the interface we're using for the recorder, you have to hit "enter" in every single field when you are registering a guide. Even the ones that got automatically filled in! Once you have, and when you hit "register guide", you'll see a mostly blank guide pop up on your guide window, with only one step called "First Step" or something like that. After that, you should be good to go!

ok now

that did the trick
thx

Great! I'm playing catch up

Great! I'm playing catch up for my classes this weekend, but I am still hoping to put some documentation up for this at some point.

Malorajan's picture

Class specific quests when leveling

I'm recording but what should be done with class specific quests?

Jiyambi's picture

They should automatically be

They should automatically be marked as such - smart addon is smart Laughing out loud

It basically checks if the quest is listed under a header that matches your class name and if it is, adds the class tag.

Malorajan's picture

Sounds cool

So I don't have to go back and edit in the quests for different classes then, sounds a lot easier than what I thought I had to do lol.

Jiyambi's picture

Hmmm, looking at the code it

Hmmm, looking at the code it doesn't look like it marked it Sad oh well. Honestly for people willing to run the recorder, even if the result has mistakes or things like class quests mixed in, it's still really really helpful and you shouldn't worry about editing them yourself unless you want to.

Guide locked

Hello,

I've an issue with eversong guide, when I start a wow game it lock to "level 3" step, I cannot deactivate it the only way which make it work again is to gain a level.

Lock ups

Hi,

Firstly would like to say congratulations on the best leveling guide I have found. I have been using this addon/guide for many years and leveled many characters to 60, 70 and 80 with it.

Since the new patch however, I have been experiencing some problems with this, so much so that I cannot use it and have had to go back to the standard Tourguide guides.

The addon seems to lock up on certain steps, mainly ones that require you to go to a specific location, or catch a flight to somewhere. Clicking on the tickbox does nothing and you cannot skip this step. Resetting the guide does nothing, when u get to the same step, it still freezes. Deleting the addon folder, WowPro from saved variables folder, etc does not fix this either. Hoping you can help me out here.. cos I love using your addon

Many thanks in advance,

Skroob

Hmmmm... Can you tell me the

Hmmmm... Can you tell me the exact faction, guide and step where this was happening? Unfortunately it's hard to check what's going on otherwise. Thanks!

Dun Morogh (1-12) by Mr Boston
Step 124 - Explore Ironforge

Westfall (13-15) by Maw
Step 4 - Follow the Arrows 4

Redridge Mountains (15-16) by Maw
Step 47 - Fly to Ironforge

Loch Modan (16-18) by Maw
Step 11 - Quest Hand in : Ironbands Excavation

These are ones i found in a few minutes of just going through each guide. There are probably more than this. If you need me to I can probably go through all the guides on a lvl 80 character (got horde and alliance) and see if they freeze and document each one.. but will probably take a bit of time.

Okay, next question - are

Okay, next question - are you using the scroll function? If so, try turning it off - there's a bug that causes the game to crash when it's enabled, if you do a quest that has an item button. The bug is fixed in our development version and I'll be releasing an update this weekend, but for now, try playing with scrolling turned off if you aren't already.

not using scroll function,

not using scroll function, and even tried enabling that function. Not had any crashes yet. Also fyi, tried running with ONLY WoWPro addon enabled (no other addons) and still get the same lockups at the same points.

Alliance Side starter dwarf bug

I'm a Dwarf Warrior lvl 6??

Town after Anvil Marr on Dun Morogh map.
(forgot name heh bad memory at this time of night)
Sell Junk.

that quest/request on the addon it wont let me checkmark/skip it or anything.. and i have nothing but a hearthstone in my inventory.. tried restarting addon, forcing different guide to load and /reload in game.. disabling and re-enabling addon... etc..

no lua errors occuring but it wont let me checkmark! even after I already sold everything in my inventory but my hearth stone ;o

Anyways, fix please since it wont let me really progress using the addon... keeps calling that up..
Anyone have a fix which allows the addon to start working or how I can add the fix without waiting for a patch update.. let me know I'll def. try to add it ;o (will look into the files tomorrow see if anything looks irregular... never messed with addon code before for wow but shouldnt be too hard to spot a irregular event based off other calls of quest/actions..)

Jiyambi's picture

Probably just a missing

Probably just a missing quest ID in the guide file. Try right-clicking instead of left clicking if you don't want to check the guide file itself, or try stickying the step if that doesn't work. Sorry, I'll look into it and hopefully get it fixed by the next update!

Crashes update

If you are experiencing crashes, here's what I recommend:

  • Disable all the other addons and try to log in;
  • Disable all addons and try to log in. If the problem persists, it should be an issue with WoW patch 4.0;
  • If the problem continues, it's an issue with WoWPro addon:

    • if the scrollbar option is turned on, try to disable it (like, by logging in with another character that shares the same display profile);
    • if the problem continues, delete the WoWPro file in the WTF/.../savedvariables/ folder. This will unfortunately cause your display options and the guides to reset to the default. But it's a workaround to the problem, until we fix it completely.

Also, if you want to help, please post the current step and guide when the issue occured, and what else was going on during the crash (for example, just after clicking or completing a step, whether or not the scrollbar was turned on, etc).

For testers/coders:

Some things I noticed about the crashes:

  • They can occur with only WoWPro addon enabled;
  • I was able to reproduce and fix one kind of crash: with the scrollbar option turned on, if there's a looting item step in any of the 15 rows of the addon (visible or not) and the player has that item in his bags, it would cause a crash.
  • Other crashes I noticed, through personal experience and reports, happen with steps that are accept quests through clicking items. So, this is likely a different bug than the previous fixed issue.

If you want to help, download the last commit from github, that has my latest fixes. And play with the scrollbar option turned on.

Crashes

The latest version of this addon makes my game crash. I can't enter the world at all with the affected characters. The game locks up and crashes to desktop.

Silvann's picture

Disable the WoWPro addons

Disable the WoWPro addons and try to log in the affected characters. If the problem is the addon (and not this patch 4.0 issue), the workaround is to delete the WoWPro file in the savedvariable folder.
