Installation
Mandatory Addons
Three external files are needed to run this addon.
- TourGuide - The base of the addon.
- TomTom - Handles coordinates (It's that arrow which points you to where you need to go). If you have Cartographer, you don't need this, since Cartographer has it's own arrow.
- Lightheaded - Makes TomTom even better, make sure to install this addon or you won't always get a TomTom arrow to show you the way.
- WARNING: If you have QuestHelper installed, you should disable it, or at least disable the TomTom arrow option in Questhelper, or it will conflict with our addon and give you wrong directions.
If you are not familiar with the installation of addons, it can be done as follows:
- Download and unzip the addon files.
- Navigate to the World of Warcraft directory
- Windows XP: C:\\Program Files\World of Warcraft
- Windows Vista: C:\\Users\Public\Games\World of Warcraft
- Open the "Interface" folder, then the "Addons" folder inside it.
- Copy and paste the "TourGuide" and "TomTom" folders into the World of Warcraft/Interface/Addons directory.
You can check ingame if you've installed it correctly; when you go to the character selection screen, down the bottom there is a button labelled Addons. Click that, then scroll down and look for TomTom and TourGuide (it's in alphabetical order). Make sure they're enabled.
Installing the WoW-Pro Guides: Alliance - Updated to v0.6.5 - 14/05/2009
- Download the WoW-Pro_TourGuide_Alliance file and unzip it.
- Copy and paste the "WoW-Pro_TourGuide_Alliance" folder into your "World of Warcraft/Interface/Addons/" folder.
- Launch wow, and at the character selection screen click on the "Addons" button on the lower-left corner. Make sure that the following 3 addons are activated: TomTom, TourGuide, WoW-Pro Tourguide Alliance and Lightheaded (Lightheaded A,B,C,D,etc as well).

- Once in game, click on the TourGuide bar (should be just under your minimap). This will open the "Guides" page. Scroll down to the bottom of the list and you'll see the WoW-Pro Guides:

Select the guide you want and there you go!
Installing the WoW-Pro Guides: Horde - Updated to v0.6 - 14/05/2009
- Download the WoW-Pro_TourGuide_Horde and unzip it
- Copy and paste the "WoW-Pro_TourGuide_Horde" folder into the "World of Warcraft/Interface/Addons/" folder.
- Launch wow, and at the character selection screen click on the "Addons" button on the lower-left corner. Make sure that the following 3 addons are activated: TomTom, TourGuide, WoW-Pro Tourguide Horde and Lightheaded (Lightheaded A,B,C,D,etc as well).

- Once in game, click on the TourGuide bar (should be just under your minimap). This will open the "Guides" page. Scroll down to the bottom of the list and you'll see the WoW-Pro Guides:

Select the guide you want and there you go!
Using the Addon
Loading a Guide
Once you enter the game, a TourGuide bar should appear on your screen. It says "No Guide Loaded..." Click the bar, and you will be given a list of guides. Select the one you wish to begin at and left-click it. From there, everything should be automated (the next guide should be selected automatically).

If, however, you wish to chose a new guide, right-click on the TourGuide bar. This will open up a overview of the guide's steps. Down the bottom right are two buttons, "Config" and "Guides". Select Guides to choose a different guide.

Following a Guide
For the most part, the guide is easy to follow. A phrase will appear on the TourGuide bar accompanied by an icon. The icon meanings are as follows:
![]()
This ingame help menu can be accessed by heading to the menu, then selecting "Interface", then "Addons" (up near the top), then expanding (click the + button) "Tour Guide" then selecting "Help" (you can see the "Addons" button and the "Help" part to the left of the screenshot)
Use Item Button
If relevant (for example, the quest Gruesome, But Necessary where you have to use the item on the mob's corpses), a small box will appear. It will have the graphic of the item to use for the quest. You can move it by left-clicking and dragging. Left-click on the box to use the item.
Comments
In addition, there are comments on most objectives that can be accessed by mousing over the TourGuide bar. I've entered them into most objectives; except, for the most part, Accept objectives and Turn-in Objectives, though I do list where each turnin block is on the first objective of the group. It's a good idea to be checking the TourGuide bar before you do each objective. I'm planning in future to add an indicator to the TourGuide bar so users will know if an important comment is present for an objective.
Note Objectives
Note objectives come in two types; auto-completing and non-auto completing. The auto-completing notes should be most of them. However, some will not auto-complete (and indeed are not intended to, meaning that you only click them after you know what you should do).
These non-auto completing notes should come in three flavours: "Repair, restock and vendor junk" (a general reminder when in town and beginning a new circuit, matches those in the guide); "READ THIS" (used to convey important information about the next objective that you want to know before you start) and "Things to do" (side objectives to complete as you quest).
I've tried to keep non-auto completing notes to these three formats, but I'm fairly sure I've slipped in places, so bear with me there.
Author's Note: Not all of these guides have been thoroughly playtested and as such there will be some errors. I do try get it right, but they do slip through. Wowhead or Jame's internet guide will help in the case of an error.
Supplementary Addons
DoubleWide - A simple but helpful addon, it makes the quest log twice as wide and much easier to read.
This section is still just new (I know about QuestHelper but LightHeaded performs the same function), so suggestions for improvement are welcome.

Known Issues
General
- Coordinates: Not an issue per-se, but some are listed as integers while others are listed to 2 decimal places. This is because I originally took the coordinates from Jame's web guide, and only updated them if I found them to be too far off. When I updated, I use 2 decimal places because it can take you to the absolutely correct spot, while integers can be off by a significant amount.
- Display of Coordinates: Sometimes, coordinates will be correct, but TourGuide will map them to the wrong place. I don't know what causes this bug.
Thousand Needles (28-30)
- Calling in the Reserves: The coordinates for the turn-in are incorrect, they should be (44,92). This will be fixed in the next upload.
Borean Tundra
- Hellscream's Vigil: This quest will not auto-complete for some people, due to there being a seperate quest by the same name for those who did the Thrall questline in Nagrand.
- The Lost Spirits: The use item button doesn't show up for "The Lost Spirits" quest (It's the "Core of Malice"). This is due to the item not being in the inventory at the start of the quest.
- Drake Hunt: Again not a bug per-se, the second time you grab it (as a daily) is included as a note instead of a accept/complete/turn-in objective set because Tour Guide otherwise detects the quest as complete (due to it sharing the same name as the non-daily version) despite quest ID, which is supposed to resolve these sorts of issues.
Grizzly Hills
- Latent Power: One of the stone's coordinates won't show up as it wasn't entered correctly (the northwestern one). It can be found at (71.10,39.00). Also, the use item button is missing. These issues will be corrected in the next upload.
Missing Guides
There are several reason why guides may not be there. If you cannot find the WoW-Pro Guides (next update they'll all by tagged with a "[WoW-Pro] Jame's"), try the following:
- In the ingame select guide screen, scroll down with your mousewheel. There is no visual scroll bar, but you can scroll. As of the current incarnation, the TourGuide's built in guides will appear at the top, so you will most likely need to scroll down.
- Open the WoWPro_TourGuide-Horde/Alliance folder, then open up the Guides.xml file. Make sure there is a relevant entry for the guide you want, and that it is consistent with the other entries.
- Check the WoWPro_TourGuide-Horde/Alliance folder and the Guide List further up this page to make sure the guide has actually been written (at the time of writing there are quite a few gaps).
- Make sure the WoWPro_TourGuide-Horde/Alliance addon is enabled (check on the character selection screen, button is in the bottom left corner).
If you still can't get the guides to load, post a comment and we'll see what we can do to help.

Guide - Terokkar forest aldor/scryer
I've just finished Hellfire with my druid alt, for leveling-gear so am lvl 67 now. I want to continue in Terokkar Forest, but on the guides to Terokkar you can chose Aldor or Scryer guide. The problem is that it's the same guide even though it in the guide menu says Terokkar Forest - Aldor and Terokkar Forest - Scryer.
So I feel kinda stuck...

Okay, so I was the one who
Okay, so I was the one who coded the separate guides, and I see I made some copy/paste errors. These errors appear to be with comments only, so the guides should still work as intended (they have the three or four separate quests entered correctly from what I can see). But I will fix this error and upload a new Scryer guide.
Sorry for the confusion and thanks for reporting this!

Testing Horde Howling Fjord Guide
I just ran a Shaman (starting at level 70 with under 2% into 70) through the Howling Fjord guide. I started a little late in the guide (I believe I started it at the top of the first lift in the Bleeding Vale), but used it the whole way through. I must say, excellent work.
Now, I am working with a Warrior (starting at the same XP point 70-2%) and I have found a few errors thus far.
How would I report issues that I have run into while using this guide?
Is there any information that is useful that may seem unimportant to a tester but would be for the guide writers?
Thanks,

Our bug reporting site seems
Our bug reporting site seems to be down for the moment, so just post any bugs (or errors in this case) you find as comments on here. Include the section you are talking about, and also if you are using the Horde or Alliance guides. Also make sure you are using the most recent version of the guides.
That's about it, thanks for testing!
Bug Report - Howling Fjord
Jiyambi,
I am sorry not to get back to you until now.
Guide: Howling Fjord - Horde
Version: v0.6
I found the following issues:
1) No TomTom Waypoint Arrow appears for the Bleeding Vale travel step. This step occurs after you collect the quests when you first arrive in the zone.
2) "The Book of Runes" waypoint at (48, 24) is incorrect. It should be (68, 26) (maybe a typo in the waypoints?).
3) "? A Return to Resting" has two waypoints instead of one. The first is at (56.90, 74.60) this takes you further away from the turn-in. This is the one that the TomTom arrow directs you two. (I didn't go there. I will on my next run-through just to see if it updates to the second.) The second, which is correct, is at (40.30, 60.30).
4) The TomTom Waypoint Arrow for "Unu'pe[?]" points to (47.60, 49.00) in Dragonblight, which is the Ruby Dragonshrine. It should be somewhere in the vicinity of (47.60, 79.00) in Dragonblight (again maybe a typo in the waypoints?). The guide does update when you get to the Borean Tundra.
I will keep you updated.
Thanks,

No worries! Thanks very much
No worries! Thanks very much for the feedback. I've been updating these sections after playtesting, so these errors may already be fixed in the versions that have not yet gone into the live release, but I'll check.
About to complete Howling Fjord guide again
When I placed the bug report above, I was halfway through my second character (1st Shaman, then Warrior) in the Hordeside Howling Fjord guide. I am about finish it with my Mage (yes number 3). I have 4 more classes at 70 left (Rogue, Hunter, Warlock, and Death Knight) to run through the Howling Fjord.
When do you expect to have an updated guide that I can run through? I might just do something else if it is going to be posted in a few days/weeks.
--Senj
P.S. After going to the "? A Return to Resting" 1st waypoint, the TomTom arrow will update so that you will be directed to the 2nd waypoint.

Are you using the current
Are you using the current version, or the one downloaded from the works in progress page?
Unfortunately I am not able to release new official versions of the guide, and Jame has been MIA for a while dealing with RL stuff.

No mapped coords for some steps
I've recently been using the ghostlands guide and then Jame's guides to level an alt. However, in the ghostlands guide some steps (usually a go here and kill mobs, or a go here and grind quest drop) weren't getting mapped. Now in the barrens this is even more annoying, as for a quest such as Betrayal From Within (to give an example) I don't have coords for killing things. However, I did have coords for Dar'khan's lieutenant.
I've reinstalled lightheaded (doubt that was it, as LH only does NPCs, I thought), tourguide and tomtom, but no luck.
Anyone got any ideas?

Mistake in Horde 51-60
On the quest 'Wild Guardians' (part 2). It says you should go to 'Owl Wing Ticket', it should actually be: 'Owl Wing Thicket'.
Other than that great guide!

go into the wow interface options
in wow go to your interface options then in the addon tab look for the torguide addon and inside there you can reset the position of the things you need
Tour guide not showing on one alt
This is crazy, but for some reason the Tour Guide bar isn't showing on one of my alts. It's configured correctly in the addons configuration in the character selection screen. I must have changed something about the interface for that alt a while ago, but I can't remember. Does anyone have any ideas?
TIA

If you open your interface
If you open your interface options, go to the addon tab, and find the Tour Guide section, there should be a "reset to defaults" button or something similar. That will hopefully let you find the window again.
Works fine!
Hello,
I am currently leveling a horde Druid, started with the guide at lvl 30, and I am now lvl 36. The addon works really well, and I found 2 small things that were not right:
- When I had to fly to Hammerfall and get some quests, the addon said I needed to take the quest 'Crystal in the Mountains'. But you get the quest from an item drop, for example from the Witherbark Trolls, but the addon says you need to do that quest after this one.
- The Herculars Revenge quest, with the 3 flames. In the yeti cave are 2 flames, but when you light one of them, the addon says you need to move on already to the next step.
It are just details
For the rest, it really works fine!
Keep up the good work!

WoW Interface
I'm trying out the MMOUI Minion beta from WoW Interface. One of the things I noticed is that it has "Wow-Pro Tourguide Alliance 1-80 by WoW-Pro Community" listed as one of the mods that it will update (v. 3.1.0.51Beta).
I didn't think Jame wanted this out on the auto-updaters.
James
Minion
The horde guide was listed as well, but it said "Addon not available" next to it in red. Minion just scans your entire addon directory and tries to match them to what is on the WowI site I think. I right-clicked it and selected "Ignore Permanently" and it no longer shows up. Had to do the same thing with a few addons that I got off Curse.

Update
I went out to WoWInterface.com and searched for the mod there. I tried several things and it's not listed as one of the mods for download at their site, but it is listed in the Minion.
Just an FYI.

The Strangeness Continues......
I decided to start my Curse Client back up to fix what the beta of Minion had screwed up and was going through fixing things.
I made it to TourGuide and guess what.....Version 3.0.1.51 Beta.....Coincidence?????
James
Actually, that makes sense
I think that clears it up quite a bit. Just from messing around with Minion, it looks like the way it searches for addons is just a simple text search. It probably found the "TourGuide" in the title and matched it up to the actual TourGuide addon. Don't know why it didn't match up for me, but maybe I had a later version of the Minion engine. I didn't download it until yesterday. And they put out a new version today as well which seems to be working better. Yesterday it was trying to update things like each individual Auctioneer component separately. Today it is seeing the Auctioneer suite as just one addon.
I have installed the
I have installed the "WoW-Pro_TourGuide_Horde" and when I go to addons it says beside WOW Pro Tour Guide that the dependency is missing.
What do I need to do to fix this?
Thanks

You need to download Tour
You need to download Tour Guide, you only downlaoded the guide itself, not the addon that reads it. On the download page, it should have links to all of the required addons - you'll also need TomTom and Lightheaded if you want the guide to work correctly.

New here, like to help
Hello there,
I am totally new here meaning I have just created an account on wow-pro. I have been using the guides for quite a while now (also before the addon-versions were released) and I absolutely love them! Can't imagine to level without them.
So I'd like to help out and test some of the guides that still need testing. Preferably one of the starting guides.
Is there anything I need to know when testing a guide? I have read a lot about how to write a guide but I think there are so many good leveling guides already in the addon that it's not necessary to start a new one.
I think I'll go and play through a guide and post my experiences here if that's okay?

If you want to just test a guide, just pick one and post any mistakes your find here. That's fine.
If you want to revise the guide yourself (which is even more helpful), read the How to Contribute page, and then post on the Works in Progress page with the guide you plan to revise.
It's fine to just test though, just be sure to be very clear in the notes you make so that we can correct them easily.

Have played through the guide now and there were few problems with coords and missing description where to find an npc if coords don't work. I'll fix it myself and have added myself to the list on the "addons in progress" page now.
Hope that's ok?

How to see if u have completed a quest or not?? example my 28 druid followed the Bostons guide 28-29
The guide told me to go to Wetlands and pick up a quest when i got there and talked to the guy i where suposed to get lightforge iron but the guy coulnt give me the quest only some other quest that the guide says nothing about help
I do not have the menu bar option under my mini map :-(
If I click it nothing happens. I went into interface to open the addon/tour guide/wow pro levels/ and it ended at Horde Borean level 70-72. I am now on level 74 and trying to load that guilde, but it's not available for me. It absololutely ends at 72. What now?

Some issues (bug with TourGuide or the guides?)

Bad guide link
Hi all.
The "[WoW-Pro | Boston's Dwarf/Gnome] Dun Morogh (1-12)" Alliance guide (000_1_12_Bostons_dwarf_gnome_starter.lua) refers as next guide the "Loch Modan (WoW-Pro | Boston's 12-14)" guide - but there is no such guide, since it is named "[WoW-Pro | Boston's 12-20] Loch Modan (12-14)".
And I have been said that this Dun Morogh guide does not bring you to level 12 and that you need some farming to reach that level, even using the +10% experience item - I don't know if one of you tried that.

If you are playing the Horde
If you are playing the Horde side, there is some grinding involved at that level (though it should only be a few minutes, and that's with zero rested XP). Jame wrote these guides when quest drop rates were lower, so more "grinding" was just included in the normal quests, so now occasionally you might fall a little behind. But honestly this has only ever happened to me on my speed leveling testing toon, where I have zero rested XP and do no instances. If you fall behind, the best way to catch up is to do an instance, if you can find people to help you. It gets you gear and XP!
Problems with vista
I loaded all the guides as instructed. Only TomTom and tourguide show in my add on list (used the cure client). I have reloaded several times. I'm on a Vista OS. My other PC with XP worked without a hitch. Help?

I'm really sorry to say
I'm really sorry to say this, but Vista sometimes just breaks addons. It's never happened to me, but I have a friend who can no longer get new addons due to Vista.
Check and make sure you are using the correct folder, Vista's addon folder is:
Public/Games/World of Warcraft/Interface/Addons
Using TG for the 30-40
Using TG for the 30-40 range. But I am not getting any coords for many of the quest pickups and hand-ins.
As far as I can understand the addon should be getting these coords from Lightheaded. I got Lightheaded installed and it finds all the quests, but there are no coords listed for the NPC. Any tricks to fix this?

Horde or Alliance? I can
Horde or Alliance? I can check and make sure that section has the quest IDs listed - if it doesn't, Lightheaded won't be able to find them. Are other sections working correctly?
EDIT: Also are other coordinates showing up, like for quest complete steps? Check and make sure TomTom is working for other steps, and make sure everything is enabled (you've probably already done this bit it bears mentioning).
Its Alliance, I am at the
Its Alliance, I am at the Desolace part, level 37.
TomTom is popping an arrow for where you complete with a chest or an item etc. (coords been written in manual?) Checkpoints etc is also no problem, only when picking up and handing in quests to NPC's.
TG seems to load the QID's proper.
When I open Lightheaded and search up quests, none of the quests I checked, have coords to their NPC.
Is there different builds for Lightheaded(used the link from this site)?
Couldn't find anything wrong in options, though I will go over it again when I come home this evening.

Hmmm. I don't really know
Hmmm. I don't really know how lightheaded works, but I know there are like four modules are parts to it. It might be possible that you are missing one part, have you tried re-downloading Lightheaded?
EDIT: Also you might want to fool around in the in game Tour Guide options, it has some settings for Lightheaded corods there.
Tried to reinstall
Tried to reinstall Lightheaded without success.
Will try checking in the TG options, very possible I've forgotten something there.
