Can we get a new tag?I believe the addon should have a new tag that is conceptually something like NOT PRE.  Basically it would mean if you have done one of these quests (or have it in your quest list) you will not be given the option of getting this one.  For example, with the Hero’s Call quests taken there are quests that can no longer be gotten.

The addon does not know I do not have a questI started using the Nagrand guide with a toon that had not used the addon before.  I was told to turn in two quests that I did not have.  Normally I would have expected the addon to know that I did not have the quest and not tell me to turn it in.  Specifically they were:T A Message to Telaar |QID|9792T The Master’s Grand Design? |QID|10251However, I would guess this is a general problem with the addon.  Not knowing whether these quests are important, it would have been nice for the addon to warn if I should go back and find these quests.  Note that I have already put in a bug for the Nagrand guide for the followup to 10251 to put in a PRE for 10251 so it does not tell me to get that quest when I have not turned this one in.

New guides?Previously I had used TourGuide and I made my own personal Northrend Elders guide that would allow me to fly to their locations more easily.  I have made an attempt to port it here, and was wondering if things like this were usable by the community and how one goes about doing that.  Note that these quests cannot autocomplete as far as I know because of the style of quest they are.  However, here is my ported code if that is of interest.  I will attempt to test this later when the Elders are out. WoWPro.Leveling:RegisterGuide(‘tepnor8080’, ‘Northrend Elders’, ‘tepes’, ’80’, ’80’, ”, ‘Neutral’, function()return [[F Dalaran              |QID|13028|A Graymane the Elder   |QID|13028|M|41.16,84.72|Z|The Storm Peaks|A Fargal the Elder     |QID|13015|M|28.89,73.71|Z|The Storm Peaks|A Stonebeard the Elder |QID|13020|M|31.26,37.61|Z|The Storm Peaks|N|Inside Bouldercrag’s Refuge|A Muraco the Elder     |QID|13032|M|64.60,51.31|Z|The Storm Peaks|A Tauros the Elder     |QID|13027|M|58.89,55.96|Z|Zul’Drak|A Beldak the Elder     |QID|13013|M|60.57,27.68|Z|Grizzly Hills|A Lunaro the Elder     |QID|13025|M|80.54,37.11|Z|Grizzly Hills|A Whurain the Elder    |QID|13030|M|64.18,46.98|Z|Grizzly Hills|A Thoim the Elder      |QID|13019|M|48.77,78.19|Z|Dragonblight|A Skywarden the Elder  |QID|13031|M|35.10,48.35|Z|Dragonblight|A Morthie the Elder    |QID|13014|M|29.75,55.90|Z|Dragonblight|A Arp the Elder        |QID|13033|M|57.41,43.72|Z|Borean Tundra|A Sardis the Elder     |QID|13012|M|59.09,65.64|Z|Borean Tundra|A Pamuya the Elder     |QID|13029|M|42.93,49.56|Z|Borean Tundra|A Northal the Elder    |QID|13016|M|33.80,34.37|Z|Borean Tundra|A Sandrene the Elder   |QID|13018|M|49.77,63.65|Z|Sholazar Basin|A Wanikaya the Elder   |QID|13024|M|63.80,49.04|Z|Sholazar Basin|A Bluewolf the Elder   |QID|13026|M|49.02,13.91|Z|Wintergrasp|]]end)

Possible cosmetic improvement to “completion symbol” WoWPro_Leveling_Parser.lua
    line 762 which reads:
    if lootqty == numinbag then
may want to be change to use <= instead.  The reason is, the complete symbol would only appear if the number of items needed is matched exactly.  However, there are some quests where you can get more than the number needed and in this case the complete symbol may not appear properly.  I no longer have any characters that have the proper quests to test this at the moment.

My bad, but still annoyingI have 2.1.1 and this is entirely my fault, but I don’t know how to fix it. I’m about ready to just uninstall the addon and reinstall it.I’m on a netbook, and small screen = cluttered wow. During one of the quests in Azshara I qued into a random dungeon and moved the addon so that it was only partially on screen, it was a long quest info and took up half my screen. After the dungeon when I completed that quest, it was the one to find the archmage on the hill, it went on to a different quest so that addon go smaller and is not completely off screen. I can’t figure out how to fix it at all. I tried setting to default with no luck, and disabling and re-enabling. Oh and another thing, I switched from my desktop to my netbook often and it seems every time I switch i have to re-do the guide, it asks me to select a quest and then I have to go through a list of quests I did and check them off, I’ve done this 4 times today all while questing in Azshara. Thanks, I love you’re guides, been using them for years, first time with the addon though.-Rhae

Hmmm, I’m not sure why itHmmm, I’m not sure why it would be generating lag between your machine and the server. Possibly generating a slowdown due to memory issues I’d understand, but actual lag? Our addon doesn’t usually communicate with the server much at all, except when it is first loaded to grab the quest list from the server. It listens for client side events and most of what it does simply involves your machine’s display, not the server.Still, it sounds like it’s a legitimate issue, I’ll look into it when I have some time. Thanks for the thorough report!

WoW Lag due to Addon Use?Hi, First of all, I just wanted to say that I really appreciate the efforts put into the wow-pro family of addons, and would like to start contributing to the development process as soon as I understand how a WoW addon is written. I’ve been using the addon for a while now, and have noticed an increase in lag ever since Cataclysm (4.0.1) went online. I’ve tried isolating the problem to a specific module, and it seems to me as if the problem is not in the general Wow-Pro module, but in the leveling module itself – when unloading this module, I get consistently higher responses from the server (~100 ms compared to 1000+ ms with the module). Any way I can find a log to help debug this? Thanks,        Jon

Mapping errorI just recieved the following error after rolling a new Worgen Death Knight and trying to open the DK guide.

    [code]
    Date: 2010-12-15 15:59:32

Not sure if it has anything to do with the TomTom Astrolabe issue (have updated to the newest version 1.0.9, but are still getting those errors too), all I know is
that the guide will not auto update once the above error is given and
even reloading my UI doesn’t help. I even updated to 2.1.1 just in case
it was fixed there, but it still occurred. I also am getting a “WoW-Pro: Zone not found. Using current zone” text in my chat box whenever I turn or get a new quest as well if this helps any.Thanks.

Cancelling stepsThere are 2 ways of checking off steps.Left click: This will check off the step your currently on and any other steps that depend on you having done it, eg it’s a quest within a chain, it’ll check off the whole chain. You will get a confirmation box using this method, before it will check the quests offRight click: This will check off just the single current step and not any other steps that depend on it

add on question? possible bugI recently downloaded your addon and must say i absolutely love it. This is the first time ive tryed to help with a guide so pls bear with my rambling as i try to discribe whats going on lol. One question i have is, on several of my toons both the new worgens and my 80’s grinding to 85, when i finish a zone and cross over to the next zone i get a (!) & (?)this is unavailable or says if u didnt do quest such n such, yet when i try to skip it, it auto checks the majority of the qst line and i end up not being able to use the guide fully cause it says ive done all the qsts–for instance i finished mt hyjal guide with no major hiccups on my 80 alliance and went str8 into the deepholm qst line, the guide didnt auto go to the deepholme guide so when i loaded that zone–first step was the  “(!)hero’s call: deepholme” yet i can’t get that qst as i was sent to narrekat? in sw by  the mt hyjals’ last qstgiver–so when i check this step off over half the guide gets auto checked off and i get totally lost because i cant find the qst i currently have  in the guide–only solution is to make it and its’ completion step a sticky. then i have these two steps glaring at me  forever—is it a bug?, am i doing something wrong? or is there another way to bypass this quest when u are sent to same place from a qstgiver.  I apologize if this is in the wrong section–still really new to this. tyvm for time n patience

Horde Side. Every so often itHorde Side. Every so often it would auto-check parts of the guide ahead of the step in the guides, but where it was really noticable, was in Uldum, specifially the quests around when you go into the hole in the ground with Harrison Jones.

Thanks for the report, butThanks for the report, but what faction was this? I haven’t experienced any issues like this so far on the Horde side, though I haven’t tested Uldum personally yet.

Auto Checking StepsThis is directed at the Authors of the Guides for Hyjal. Vashj’ir, Deepholm and Uldum. Your guides auto check steps causing you to have to repeatedly go into the ‘Current Guide’ option and uncheck them, so that you may continue following the guide. For example, when doing the Harrison Jones Quest in Uldum. When you go down into the star room, it Auto Checks the Step telling you to kill a scarab to get the quest to kill them. It also checks off the 3 of the 4 killing steps that direct you to the different scarabs. I am too lazy to go into the files and check the coding, but I would assume there is something incorrect within the guides. Which probably was not caught, due to a lack of testing the guides ‘after’ they were created.

The lua error is unrelated toThe lua error is unrelated to the TomTom issue. The lua error can be fixed by following the last set of steps in this section of the troubleshooting page: https://wow-pro.com/wiki/addon_troubleshooting_guide#missingoneThe TomTom issue sounds like an addon conflict as you mentioned – I have never seen this issue. Try disabling Carbonite OR TomTom (either should work alone with our addon) and see if it fixes itself.

The folder that I downloadedThe folder that I downloaded (and pulled the files out of) says 2.1.0… and I use the curse-client for my addons (unless the TomTom ON curse is outdated). I didn’t use the link to DL TomTom, I used my client. Now that I think about it… back on v1, wasn’t there a problem if you tried to use TomTom and another tracking addon (I have Carbonite)? I don’t know if that is what is causing the problem… but I will try to update TomTom and see.Lastly, this problem is persisting regardless of zone or guide. I was trying to decide between going to Hyjal or Vashjir, and BOTH guides have the same problem no matter where I am. I noticed the problem is Stormwind (so obviously Alliance). I can try my Huntard, to see if I have the same problems with my setup on the Horde side. And I found that .lua error:Date: 2010-12-08 12:23:55ID: 1Error occured in: GlobalCount: 1Message: ..AddOnsWoWPro_LevelingHorde80_82_Arixan_Vashjir.lua line 568:   ‘end’ expected (to close ‘function’ at line 1) near ‘<eof>’Debug:   [C]: ?AddOns:  Swatter, v5.9.4960 (WhackyWallaby)  ACP, v3.3.12   AucAdvanced, v5.9.4960 (WhackyWallaby)  AucFilterBasic, v5.9.4960 (WhackyWallaby)  AucFilterOutlier, v5.9.4960.2531  AucMatchUndercut, v5.9.4960.2531  AucStatHistogram, v5.9.4960 (WhackyWallaby)  AucStatiLevel, v5.9.4960 (WhackyWallaby)  AucStatPurchased, v5.9.4960 (WhackyWallaby)  AucStatSales, v5.9.4960.2842  AucStatSimple, v5.9.4960 (WhackyWallaby)  AucStatStdDev, v5.9.4960 (WhackyWallaby)  AucStatWOWEcon, v5.9.4960.2530  AucUtilAHWindowControl, v5.9.4960.3311  AucUtilAppraiser, v5.9.4960.2530  AucUtilAskPrice, v5.9.4960.3175  AucUtilAutoMagic, v5.9.4960.3142  AucUtilCompactUI, v5.9.4960.2530  AucUtilEasyBuyout, v5.9.4960.3583  AucUtilFixAH, v5.9.4960 (WhackyWallaby)  AucUtilGlypher, v5.9.4960.2545  AucUtilItemSuggest, v5.9.4960.3108  AucUtilPriceLevel, v5.9.4960.2545  AucUtilScanButton, v5.9.4960.2530  AucUtilScanFinish, v5.9.4960.2530  AucUtilScanProgress, v5.9.4960.2530  AucUtilScanStart, v5.9.4960.4819  AucUtilSearchUI, v5.9.4960.3655  AucUtilSimpleAuction, v5.9.4960.4546  AucUtilVendMarkup, v5.9.4960.2530  Babylonian, v5.1.DEV.130  Bartender4, v4.4.15  BeanCounter, v5.9.4960 (WhackyWallaby)  BonusScanner, v5.4.0  ButtonFacade, v4.0.340  ButtonFacadeDarion, v3.0.3.2  Carbonite, v4.031  CarboniteTransfer, v1.01  Configator, v5.1.DEV.282  DBMBurningCrusade, v  DBMCore, v  DebugLib, v5.1.DEV.275  Enchantrix, v5.9.4960 (WhackyWallaby)  EnchantrixBarker, v5.9.4960 (WhackyWallaby)  GearScore, v3.1.20b – Release  Genie, v4.1_beta  GenieLDB, v4.1_beta  GenieUI, v4.1_beta  LUI, v3.0  NugComboBar, v  Omen, v3.0.11  PallyPower, vv4.0.17   Recount, v  SlideBar, v5.9.4960 (WhackyWallaby)  Stubby, v5.9.4960 (WhackyWallaby)  TidyPlates, v5.14.1 (r54)  TidyPlatesEPEEN, v1.0.5  TidyPlatesGrey, v  TidyPlatesNeon, v3  TidyPlatesThreatPlates, v4.1-b  TomTom, vv40000-1.0.7  VuhDo, v2.71  VuhDoOptions, v2.71  WoWPro, v2.1.0  WoWProLeveling, v2.1.0  BlizRuntimeLib_enUS v4.0.3.40000 <us>  (ck=7e6)

Do you have the latestDo you have the latest version of each?  If you followed the link yesterday, there was an error temporarily, and the TomTom link for Curse was outdated. Also, which faction and zone?

TomTom not working at allI just downloaded this addon yesterday (again… I used to use the OLD guide before the code was bought)…TomTom’s distance data does NOT update while moving. It will track a quest, and point you in the proper direction, but the distance (in yards) never changes. You can manually force the distance to change by doing a /rl of the ui, or by changing guides and then changing them back. It is checking the distance as the quest is loaded, but it isn’t refreshing the distance at all. There is a .lua error that comes up occasionally for wow-pro, but I didn’t copy/paste it last time… and it doesn’t always come back.

Gilneas Starting AreaVersion 2.1.0AllianceGilneas Starting AreaStarted from the beginning so I’m not sure if it is a guide bug or a general addon bug, but for some reason, the addon won’t auto update every time you complete a step.  If I click the little minimap icon and turn the addon off then back on, it advances, so I’m not really sure what the problem is.  Thought I would just let you guys know.  Thanks for the guide, its working great for me is Vash.

Thanks, Silvann! I’m glad toThanks, Silvann! I’m glad to know that you’ve found and fixed it.BTW, I have found that the bug (in my case, at least) seems to be specific to the Northern and Southern Barrens. When I took the same toon to Stormwind, she had no problem with the addon. Thanks again! I look forward to the next release. Your guides are wonderful!

Thanks, I’ve already fixedThanks, I’ve already fixed that bug in my dev version. Keep doing the workaround for now until a new addon version is released with the fix.

If you are curious, it has to do with some Blizzard funtions that our addon calls, that fails for very specific quests/zones:

Thanks! TomTom is up to date, but the bug is still there…Thanks for your responses, everyone!I do have the latest version of TomTom, 4.0.7. I just checked and I’m still getting the same behavior. Thanks for looking into this, Jiyambi and crew. I wish I could give you more information on reproducing the bug. I haven’t been able to figure out what’s so special about this particular toon, since it’s the only one I’ve seen (of about 4 or 5 that I’ve tried) which has this problem. If I find out anything more, I’ll post it here.Meanwhile, I do have a workaround, though it’s cumbersome. If I open Options -> Interface -> AddOns -> WoW-Pro Guides and uncheck the Enable Addon box, then re-select the guide I’m using, then close the menu and click on the WoW-Pro icon by the mini-map, then the guide resets and I can use it. I can actually see it reset; I get the No Guide Selected empty guide for a split second, and then the guide that I’ve just selected appears. To me it seems as though something to do with initializing the display of the guide is failing to be properly initialized, but I don’t know why. Thanks again! And thank you for providing these wonderful guides and the terrific addon that makes them so handy in-game.

Thanks for the detailedThanks for the detailed report! I’m not a specialist in anything, but I know what’s going, will fix that soon!

Tip for addon devs: don’t trust Blizzard’s APIs blindly. 😛

I did notice there is a newI did notice there is a new version of TomTom. Try downloading that and see if that fixes anything – the problem you are experiencing is occurring somewhere between our interface with TomTom.I’m going to try to reproduce your issue, since I don’t see anything offhand that would cause it.

We’re not ignoring you :DNone of our addon designers are online yet, I dont personally have anything to do with the core addon design or development. But rest assured; someone will look at this when they log in. Jezz

local ‘x’ nil value error – still more infoFlew from Ratchet to Northwatch Hold in Southern Barrens. Selected a new guide, and all was well. I can now enable and disable the addon using the button on the mini map.Flew back up to Ratchet and it still works.Logged out of the character, exited the game, logged back on – and the error popup and “No Guide Loaded” errors are back.

local ‘x’ nil value error – more informationI should have added that this is happening on an Alliance rogue, and she is in Ratchet (in the Northern Barrens). I deleted and reinstalled the guide and deleted these files as well: WTFAccount<account number>Velen<character>SavedVariablesWoWPro_leveling.lua WTFAccount<account number>Velen<character>SavedVariablesWoWPro_leveling.lua.bakHowever, I still get the error, and it seems to happen no matter what quest I have selected. Note that now I only get the error popup when I enter this toon, but whenever I click on the WoWPro mini map button to disable and then enable the addon, the addon window shows “No Guide Loaded” and is empty. This does not appear to be happening with any other toon, Horde or Alliance, on any of three servers.Could it have to do with this toon’s location in the Northern Barrens?

local ‘x’ nil value errorI just installed the new guide, 2.0.6, and now I am getting an error on one of my Alliance toons. The error crashes the addon, and prevents me from selecting a guide.I was able to get rid of the error by exiting the game, then logging back in on another toon, then logging out of that toon and into the one which is having trouble. The guide I was on (Southern Barrens) loaded properly with no error. But it came back. I clicked on the WoW-Pro button on the mini map, which disabled the addon, and then clicked on it again to re-enable it. As soon as I did this, the error appeared again, and the guide switched to “No Guide Loaded”.In this state, when I try to select a guide from the guide list, the selection changes color, but the guide doesn’t actually get selected. I can highlight several guides in the list at the same time, but none of them loads.I was able to again get past the error, this time by disabling the addon by unchecking its box in Interface -> WoW-Pro Guides, and then re-enabling it. But if I click the mini map button to disable/enable the addon, the error occurs again.I tried deleting the WoW-Pro lua files in Saved Variables but that didn’t help.Help! :)BTW, the zip file I downloaded is named WoWPro v2.0.6 but the .toc file inside still has 2.0.4 in it. Date: 2010-12-05 04:17:25ID: 1Error occured in: GlobalCount: 1Message: ..AddOnsWoWProWoWPro_Mapping.lua line 254:   attempt to perform arithmetic on local ‘x’ (a nil value)Debug:   (tail call): ?   WoWProWoWPro_Mapping.lua:254: findBlizzCoords()   …ceAddOnsWoWPro_LevelingWoWPro_Leveling_Parser.lua:642: PopulateQuestLog()   …ceAddOnsWoWPro_LevelingWoWPro_Leveling_Parser.lua:251: LoadGuide()   WoWProWoWPro_Broker.lua:40: LoadGuide()   WoWPro_LevelingWoWPro_Leveling.lua:65:      WoWPro_LevelingWoWPro_Leveling.lua:13   (tail call): ?   [C]: ?   [string “safecall Dispatcher[1]”]:9:      [string “safecall Dispatcher[1]”]:5   (tail call): ?   …AddOnsBartender4libsAceAddon-3.0AceAddon-3.0.lua:543:      …AddOnsBartender4libsAceAddon-3.0AceAddon-3.0.lua:536   (tail call): ?   WoWProWoWPro.lua:113:      WoWProWoWPro.lua:90   (tail call): ?   [C]: ?   [string “safecall Dispatcher[1]”]:9:      [string “safecall Dispatcher[1]”]:5   (tail call): ?   …AddOnsBartender4libsAceAddon-3.0AceAddon-3.0.lua:543:      …AddOnsBartender4libsAceAddon-3.0AceAddon-3.0.lua:536   (tail call): ?   WoWProWoWPro_Frames.lua:638: OnClick()   …dOnsBartender4libsLibDBIcon-1.0LibDBIcon-1.0.lua:122:      …dOnsBartender4libsLibDBIcon-1.0LibDBIcon-1.0.lua:122AddOns:  Swatter, v3.1.16 (<%codename%>)  ACP, v3.3.11   Altoholic, v4.0.005  AucAdvanced, v5.9.4960 (WhackyWallaby)  AucFilterBasic, v5.9.4960 (WhackyWallaby)  AucFilterOutlier, v5.9.4960.2531  AucMatchUndercut, v5.9.4960.2531  AucStatHistogram, v5.9.4960 (WhackyWallaby)  AucStatiLevel, v5.9.4960 (WhackyWallaby)  AucStatPurchased, v5.9.4960 (WhackyWallaby)  AucStatSales, v5.9.4960.2842  AucStatSimple, v5.9.4960 (WhackyWallaby)  AucStatStdDev, v5.9.4960 (WhackyWallaby)  AucStatWOWEcon, v5.9.4960.2530  AucUtilAHWindowControl, v5.9.4960.3311  AucUtilAppraiser, v5.9.4960.2530  AucUtilAskPrice, v5.9.4960.3175  AucUtilAutoMagic, v5.9.4960.3142  AucUtilCompactUI, v5.9.4960.2530  AucUtilEasyBuyout, v5.9.4960.3583  AucUtilFixAH, v5.9.4960 (WhackyWallaby)  AucUtilGlypher, v5.9.4960.2545  AucUtilItemSuggest, v5.9.4960.3108  AucUtilPriceLevel, v5.9.4960.2545  AucUtilScanButton, v5.9.4960.2530  AucUtilScanFinish, v5.9.4960.2530  AucUtilScanProgress, v5.9.4960.2530  AucUtilScanStart, v5.9.4960.4819  AucUtilSearchUI, v5.9.4960.3655  AucUtilSimpleAuction, v5.9.4960.4546  AucUtilVendMarkup, v5.9.4960.2530  Babylonian, v5.1.DEV.130  Bartender4, v4.4.15  BeanCounter, v5.9.4960 (WhackyWallaby)  BonusScanner, v5.4.0  Configator, v5.1.DEV.282  DataStore, v4.0.001  DataStoreAchievements, v4.0.001  DataStoreAuctions, v4.0.001  DataStoreCharacters, v4.0.001  DataStoreContainers, v4.0.001  DataStoreCrafts, v4.0.001  DataStoreCurrencies, v4.0.001  DataStoreInventory, v4.0.001  DataStoreMails, v4.0.001  DataStorePets, v4.0.001  DataStoreQuests, v4.0.001  DataStoreReputations, v4.0.001  DataStoreSpells, v4.0.001  DataStoreStats, v4.0.001  DataStoreTalents, v4.0.001  DBMCore, v  DebugLib, v5.1.DEV.275  Gatherer, v3.1.16  GearScore, v3.1.20b – Release  InFlightLoad, v4.0.001  Informant, v5.9.4960 (WhackyWallaby)  LightHeaded, v320  LightHeadedDataE, v320  Nauticus, v4.0.1  Recount, v  SlideBar, v3.1.16 (<%codename%>)  Stubby, v5.9.4960 (WhackyWallaby)  TomTom, vv40000-1.0.6  WoWPro, v2.0.4  WoWProLeveling, v2.0.4  BlizRuntimeLib_enUS v4.0.3.40000 <us>  (ck=845)
