This wiki page will help us track who has volunteered to help translate sections of Jame’s Leveling Guides into TourGuide Format, so that we can finally publish an addon that will enable people following Jame’s Guide to do so without alt-tabbing.
Before you sign in for testing, revamping or writing a guide for the AddOn you should read the following two pages:
Now that you know what to do, you can take a look at the overview lists for the two factions. It might look a bit confusing on first sight but it’s really easy:
In the Status column you can see what the current status of every guide is:
N/A | The guide has not been written yet (not available) |
Testing | The guide has been written but not been tested by anyone but the author. |
Improvements | The guide has been written and tested, but it needs improvements. Numbers behind the status will forward you to posts with information on the needed improvements. |
Quality | The guide has been tested, revamped and has a very good quality. The stars indicate how well the guide has been tested. A quality guide with one star has only been tested by one person so there might still be some flaws. |
Now that you’re informed about what needs to be done, you have to look at the Progress column if the guide is already in work.
A indicates that there is no one working on this guide at the moment, so feel free to do it!
A tells you that there is someone working on that guide, if you click on the icon you will be redirected to the editors user-page.
Before you start editing a guide you should look if there are some edited files that are not included in the AddOn by default.
If the download arrow is green it means that there are files to download. Just click the arrow to download them. Put those files into the folder of the according Guide Package AddOn.
The little lamp will redirect you to a section on the “Mistakes” page. There you can see a list of known mistakes in the guide. You should take a look at this list even if the guide is not marked for Improvements!
If you found a guide that suits you and no one else is working at, you can either write a comment so that someone can add you to the list, or you can try to add yourself.
Please give us an update every week (at least) by changing the Last Updated column and giving some information about your progress in the Progress column so that everyone who wants to know can check how far you are. If we don’t hear from you in over a week, and someone else wants to take over revising/writing that section of the guide, it’s fair game! This way parts of the guide won’t be left unfinished.
If you’ve finished your part add a link to the file you edited in the Progress column and leave a comment!
Isn’t it the 51-60? AnywayIsn’t it the 51-60? Anyway thanks in advance for testing and editing, cuz no one has so far!
/approve Horde 21-31I just finished playing through this guide and have no major complaints. It follows Jame’s guide exactly, but it would be nice to have some more of his notes on how to complete each quest. I had to use LightHeaded and QuestHelper a few times to get some more details, but never needed to alt-tab out of the game to look something up. Other than that, I think it would be great to include class quests, but they’re not even mentioned in the Horde 21-31 online guide. Thanks to freedave2000 for translating the guide to TourGuide!
Snowflake Draenei starter guidei’m working through the 1-12 Draenei guide. have found some issues. i can post them here or update the file. whatever is preferred i will do.
edit: seems that the problems stem from lightheaded having the wrong locations for things. i could add waypoints in manually, but the default waypoints would still be there, giving multiple waypoints.
edit: the priest class quest works fine.
Hah, I love it. I’m sureHah, I love it. I’m sure they are awesome, and we won’t need to come find you 😉
Thanks for the hard work!
New version of Jame’s 40-50 guideI just finished editing and testing the tourguide version of Jame’s 40-50 guide which can be found here http://files.filefront.com/000+40+50+Jamelua/;13406488;/fileinfo.html the quality should be 95% or perfect. I’m going to wrok on the 50-60 version and should have it here soon.
New versions of Horde Hellfire, Zangarmarsh, and TerokkarI just added download links for versions of the Horde Hellfire, Zangarmarsh, and Terokkar guides. Most of the changes are in adding/correcting quest IDs, fixing case (since TourGuide is case-sensitive) in quest names, and adding item buttons for some quests that didn’t have them.
Separate patchfiles for the guides are available at http://www.morrisland.com/public/ which make it easier to see specifically what changed.
I also put my name on the little dude’s head so you know who to blame if it’s screwed up.
His guide is available inHis guide is available in the list above. Just click the green arrow next to the 21-31 guide to download the file. Test it whenever you like 🙂
Testing 31_41Hey Skully, I just got done with the 21-31 guides. Lemme know if I might help ya test your 31-41 guide. 🙂
For now, my level 29 Mage and I are gonna grease some Ally’s for a while. 😉
Thanks,
—-DAVE
Loving the guides, great projectHi, I’ve been follow the guides on this site for a while, but just recently joined the community. I’ve been following the addon guides and, ever since, I’ve not been able to go back to web guides or any other guide I have to Alt+Tab to from WoW, the Tour Guide format is just too good! 😀 Can’t wait till they’re all complete and tested to perfection. Keep up the great work, guys!
Within a specific camp,Within a specific camp, where you are running around just picking up or turning in quests, PLEASE put it in a more logical order if you come across it 🙂 I think for these people mostly just have listed the quests available when originally coding it, where Jame just said “pick up all the quests” or something similar. So by all means put those steps in a good order 🙂
TourGuide Version of Horde Guide – Hellfire PeninsulaI just finished leveling in Hellfire Peninsula with my Death Knight using the HP version in Tour Guide (For the Horde!).
I’ve found a few things that I wanted to address that may make it better.
1 – First is just a suggestion: At Reaver’s Fall when talking to Wing Commander Brach and it says to pick the dialog to start the event, a note may need to be added for clarity to say which dialog should be chosen. There are two times when there are 2 different dialog options to chose from.
2 – At Spinebreaker Post: When gathering the quests “Make them listen” and “Preparing the Salve”, reorder the collection so that “Preparing the Salve” is picked up first.
3 – Another suggestion (may not be needed, but…). When at a quest hub and there are a lot of quests to be picked up, can notes be added to say who the quest giver is? Just for clarity?
4 – At Falcon Watch: To stop back tracking, change the order of “Flight Point” pick up and picking up the quest “The Great Fissure”. This would stop having to go up the tower, back down, and then back up again.
5 – After the Note that states “Last chance: Blacktalon”, the objectives of “Light Western Beacon” and “Light Central(?) Beacon” do not auto complete. Unfortunately, I didn’t notice anything in the chat display when I did it.
6 – I had an issue where is says to “Hearth to Falcon Watch” after completing the quest “From the Abyss”. I had almost 30 minutes on my cool down at this point. I did this part by running to Spinebreaker Post and flying to Falcon Watch.
7 – The note to get the quest “Leader of the Darkcrest” points at Ryathen the Seeker in Hellfire Peninsula at Falcon Watch and not at the Wanted Poster at the Cenariun Refuge in Zangarmarsh.
8 – For some reason the quest “Report to Nazgrel” and it’s completion are auto completed. This was noted after completing the “Demoniac Scryer” quest turn in.
9 – One last not or suggestion: If you complete all the quests in the guide with the exception of the PvP quest and “Foot of the Citadel”, the achievement “To Hellfire and Back” will be completed.
Hope this helps.
A changelog is not requiredA changelog is not required but if you want to make one you can put it into a archive with the edited lua files 🙂
I don’t know about changing the quest order of the guides… I personally wouldn’t care as long as it improves the guide, but maybe you should wait for an answer by Jame.
ChangelogThanks 🙂
Do I keep a changelog of changes I make to the guide/files?
Sometimes a guide makes one go back and forth from one end of a camp to another to pick up quests. E.g. take a quest from NPC A, then one of NPC B (other end of camp) then the other quest of A and again another one of B. In this case I’d like to switch the order around. Is this ok or should the addon guide files rather be 100% as in the text version? In other words: are small improvements desirable?
Hey welcome
That’s exactlyHey welcome 🙂
That’s exactly the way it works 😉 If you upload a revised file it will probably also be included in the next update of the packages.
Argh.. thanks =/ nowArgh.. thanks =/ now everyone can see it 🙂
Jame’s Horde Leveling Guide (31-41)Hey everyone,
I’m the new guy 😉
As a twinker I have used Jame’s guides over the last years non-stop. Now I have switched over to Horde recently and was of course also going to use Jame’s guides. Beeing pretty fit in programming / coding I have decided to contribute with testing and revising as I come along the TG version of this guide.
So now I have picked up Jame’s Horde Leveling Guide (31-41) as my responsibility and am already at level 36 and a half. Shouldn’t be too long until my undead mage has made it to level 41 I hope. Real life keeps me pretty busy, but I’ll do my best!
Do I understand this correctly in that I do all the testing and revising, and after that upload the changed files for people to test (the little green download-arrow)?
Skully
I’m not sure if this is trueI’m not sure if this is true for anyone else but when I click on the link the the “Mistakes” page it says “Acess Denied”
I don’t know if only editors are supposed to see this page or what, but I can’t 😉
Wow! Added your file to theWow! 🙂 Added your file to the list and I’ll definitely have a look at your work if I find the time 🙂
As your guide probably has quite a lot of notes for giving directions, I think it doesn’t attract much attention if the talent suggestions are in there as well:) Even otherwise it’s probably a good idea to have them included.
I’ts ok
I’m gunna be outI’ts ok 8)
I’m gunna be out for the next two days because i’m moving so any fixes you’ll have to do your self or wait till sunday or monday.
/worship.
And sorry for/worship.
And sorry for bugging you 😛
I finally got the Horde DKI finally got the Horde DK guide done, it should have been a while ago but whatever:/
Like it was mentioned earlier, tomtom does not work in the DK starting area, but I think I put in sufficient direction to get you where you need to be, needs testing.
I put the talent suggestions into the guide but i’m not 100% on whether or not they really should be there. thoughts?
Heres the link to the download:

she’s all yours, Brune 😉
Just fine here Added yourJust fine here 🙂 Added your comment to the new “Mistakes” page.
Not sure if I’m commentingNot sure if I’m commenting in the wrong place, and I didn’t write down the line I found it in but:
The Horde Zangarmarsh Guide has a typo in it. The quest “Us or Them” is spelled “Us of Them.”
Also, turning in “Now That We’re Friends” does not auto complete, and does not give you turn in coords.
Sorry if I’m commenting in the wrong place… Oh and don’t count this as an official test, I was just running through with my new Death Knight so I thought I’d let you guys know something was wrong.
Hah, you made me giggle.Hah, you made me giggle.
With the power toWith the power to scrolldown, comes great responsibility to…
I need to work on that one 😛
Yeah he told us about theYeah he told us about the problem 😉
Oh dear.
I can’t rememberOh dear.
I can’t remember who, but someone is writing it, has been writing it for a while, and is hoping to release part soon… So I’ll work out who they are and PM them…
Ah, Gethe, that was it
Icecrown 78-80At level 78 I wanted to open up the Daily quests that are on the Skybreaker in Icecrown. As I went to start to work them, I started to write a guide to Icecrown in the addon version and I want to submitted it to the works in progress page, but I don’t know how.
It is very much a work in progress as I don’t have another level 78 toon to really test it with, but I did write it as I was playing, so I confident that a lot of the A, C, T and others N will work.
I would like to know how to submit it to the list so that others can use it and give me feedback. I will continue to work on it in the meantime.
Thanks,
Bruknocs

There are No Stupid Questions. But there a LOT of Inquisitive Idiots!
Note! The current TomTom version does not support the Deathknight starting area. This means it is not possible to efficiently write and test an AddOn version of Jame’s Deathknight guides!
Yeah that really sucks! I’llYeah that really sucks! I’ll stop working on it for now and put a warning or something in the list so that every other volunteer knows 😉
Hmm, now that sucks.Hmm, now that sucks.
It’s not lightheadedIt’s not lightheaded, it’s tomtom. tomtom doesn’t work in the DK starting area at all, even if you put in your own coords. This has been confirmed by Cladhaire.

I am *kindof* working on twoI am *kindof* working on two guides. The Barrens guide is on hold at the moment because Hosho wants to revise it (the original version). Lemme put that up there.
“managing the horde side”?“managing the horde side”? Uh oh, what have I gotten myself into? 😉
All you need to do, dave, is to upload the file to a free file hosting place somewhere (most people use filefront, but I prefer Google sites). Then we can check it over put into the new release.
You can leave a comment here if you decide to work on another part of the guide and we’ll add you to the list. Just be sure to take a look at the above list to make sure no one else is working on it, or download any updated files before beginning.
SureSure 😉
Welcome! And thank you forWelcome! And thank you for offering help.
Jiyambi is managing the horde side atm so I’ll let her answer that 🙂
Should add the coordinatesShould add the coordinates manually for every step, if you got the time and will of course 🙂
Hmm it seems as ifHmm it seems as if Lightheaded has no coordinate data for the Deathknight quests. Should I hope on an update for the lightheaded data and just leave the quest accepts and turn ins without coords, or should I add coordinates manually for every step? What do you think?
How to contribute?Thank you to James and everyone taking their time to write these guides. They are truly impressive. I don’t care what anyone says, the guides make the game a more enjoyable experience.
Basicly, I’d like to how I can help? I saw a post from a gleamming jewel of colossal ignorance named “Chris” on Jame’s Blog. This idiot had the audacity to complain about guides not being written in a timely fasion. Needless to say this p’d me off, so I decided to help out.
Where might I place my efforts to help the most? I have The Barrens 21_31 rewritten with coords and all; just in testing now.
Again, thanks everyone. I can’t wait to see the final product.

Snowflake’s Draenei Guide (1-12)Revamped Snowflake’s Draenei Guide (1-12). I think it has quite good quality, but I’m not too sure about all the class quests as I only tested is with a shaman while revamping it. Status is now Testing. The file can be downloaded from the list or here.
Ji, are you working on twoJi, are you working on two guides or are you done with the Barrens guide? 🙂
Oh and I’ll fix your Last Updated column… I keep forgetting it, too. =/
I want to keep the list clean, so what are we going to do when are guides with no update for a week(which seems to happen for quite a few in two days). I think we should remove them and leave a message so that the authors have a chance to put themselves on the list again quickly 🙂
Durotar Guide Quick FixUploaded a fixed version of Durotar guide, with that capitalization mistake for Vanquish the Betrayers fixed. Don’t forget to say whichDon’t forget to say which faction you’re talking about. Horde or Alliance ^^
Haha, well that sucks and IHaha, well that sucks and I don’t think it’s something you can fix. You’ll have to add a note to warn people about it 🙂
