This guide follows the format of both Irwezsh’s Guide and Trollvink’s Guide, as requested by Jame himself.

For Patch 3.0+, focused on WARLOCK gameplay!

Table of content:

  1. Foreword
  2. What’s the best leveling spec?
  3. Talents
  4. Abilities and Rotations
  5. Tips
  6. Stats
  7. Gear
  8. Glyphs
  9. Addons

1. Foreword

This is a guide which will tell which talents are the best to choose while leveling, also what rotation you should do, what gear boosts you should be focusing on and some general tips.

2. What’s the best leveling spec?

The best leveling spec for the warlock is Affliction. This is because of it’s the most mana efficient tree there is, and focuses on your DoTs. Demonology becomes the best 50+, and I’ve shown that in this guide.

3. The spec:

10 – 14:
Improved Corruption – 5/5

15 – 16:
Improved Life Tap – 2/2

17 – 18:
Soul Siphon – 2/2

19 – 20:
Improved Drain Soul – 2/2

21 – 23:
Fel Concentration – 3/3

24:
Improved Curse of Agony – 1/2

25 – 27:
Suppression – 3/3

28 – 29:
Nightfall – 2/2

30:
Siphon Life – 1/1

31:
Improved Curse of Agony – 2/2

32 – 34:
Empowered Corruption – 3/3

35 – 39:
Shadow Mastery – 5/5

40:
Dark Pact – 1/1

41 – 45:
Contagion – 5/5

46 – 47:
Improved Howl of Terror – 2/2

48 – 49:
Malediction – 2/3

At level 50, Respec to Demonology, using the following build.

Demonic Embrace – 5/5

Improved Health Funnel – 2/2

Demonic Brutality – 3/3

Fel Vitality – 3/3

Soul Link – 1/1

Fel Domination – 1/1

Demonic Aegis – 3/3

Unholy Power – 5/5

Master Summoner – 2/2

Master Demonologist – 5/5

Demonic Empowerment – 1/1

Demonic Resilience – 3/3

Demonic Knowledge – 3/3

Demonic Tactics – 1/5

Fel Synergy – 2/2

Summon Felguard – 1/1

At this point, your Felguard becomes your new pet through level 80!

51 – 52:
Improved Healthstone – 2/2

53 – 54:
Master Conjuror – 2/2

55 – 58:
Demonic Tactics – 5/5 (Should already have 1 point in this)

59:
Suppression – 1/3

60 – 64:
Improved Shadow Bolt – 5/5

65 – 69:
Bane – 5/5

70 – 72:
Cataclysm – 3/3

73 – 77:
Ruin – 5/5

78 – 79:
Destructive Reach – 2/2

80:
Devastation – 1/1

4. Abilities and Rotations

Always take the weapon with the best stats

1 – 9:

– Keep Demon Skin up.
– Get your Imp no later than level 4.
– Until you get Immolate and Corruption, spam Shadow Bolt.

Rotation: Immolate, Send in Imp while casting Corruption, Shadow Bolt or Wand to death. At level 8, Start rotation with Curse of Agony.

10 – 19:

– Keep Demon Skin Up.
– Use your Voidwalker.
– Use Drain Soul when you need Soul Shards.
Wait 3 seconds after your Voidwalker begins attacking a mob to start the rotation.
Life Tap when needed.
Drain Life when needed.
Rotation: Send in Voidwalker. Curse of Agony, Corruption, Immolate, Life Tap(optional)Drain Life(if needed), Drain Soul.

20 – 29:

– Replace Demon Skin with Demon Armor.
– Use Any pet you feel good with.
Life Tap and Drain Life when needed.

Rotation: Immolate and Send in Pet, Corruption, Curse of Agony, Drain Soul.

30 – 39

– Get your free mount!
– Continue using Any pet you like.
Drain Life, Life Tap when needed.
– If you feel Imp has more DPS, go ahead and use him.

Rotation: Same as above.

40 – 49

– Use either Voidwalker or Felhunter, your own preference.
– Everything else, same as above.
– Use Shadow Bolt if Nightfall procs.
– For Voidwalkers, have them attack right away.
– For Felhunters, send them in after Immolate.

Rotation: Immolate, Corruption, Siphon Life, Curse of Agony, Shadow Bolt(if Nightfall procs), Drain Soul, Dark Pact.

50 – 80

– At 62, switch to Fel Armor.
– From 50+, I’m not sure about a DEFINITE rotation, but you basically want to put all your dots on the mobs you are facing.
– I use a Felguard through these last 30 levels.

My rotation these last few levels(definitely not the best): Immolate, Curse of Agony, Corruption, Drain Life, Drain Soul.

You should probably by now understand what DoTs are and that they are your main damage dealing abilities. So any rotation you feel good with is fine.

NOTE – This build is for leveling, not raids/dungeons, consider respeccing!

Anyhow, if you choose to go with it, the Affliction DPS rotation for 80 instances is: Haunt, Curse of Agony, Corruption, Unstable Affliction, Siphon Life, Shadow Bolt.

I have not seen a good Demonology rotation yet, but keep your ears open.

5. Tips

Instances
– Make sure you start with around 10 Soul Shards.
– Give a Soul Stone to one of the healers.
– I could rant on with a ton of stuff, but I’m just going to say, read this.

Solo
– Carry 5 – 7 Soul Shards with you at all times. Delete excess stones.
– Don’t waste a bag slot on a Soul Bag. You won’t ever have enough SS’s to worry about it.
– Just heal yourself with Drain Life when you need to heal.
– Bandages help as well.
– Like mentioned in the rotations, keep up Demon Skin/ Demon Armor/ Fel Armor
– Life Tap when low on mana.

Professions
– The best options are Skinning/Mining, they make lots of money, especially with the Death Knights wanting to go Blacksmithing.

6. Stats

In the following order: Spell Hit(Until capped) > Spell Power > Spell Haste > Spell Crit > Stamina > Intellect.
There are various opinions on the topic, but most Warlocks I know go generally by this.

7. Gear

Here I will eventually put some gear down you can get while leveling. But for now I don’t have the time. 😉

8. Glyphs

Major Glyphs(Thanks kirby for these.)

Glyph of Siphon Life
Glyph of Immolate
Glyph of Corruption

With Glyph of Corruption, when Shadow Trance procs, cast a Shadow Bolt

9. Addons

DoTimer – A handy mod for managing your DoTs and rotation.(thanks to kirby for this aswell)
Necrosisshard management(since with improved Drain Soul you’ll want to get 14% FREE MANA from EVERY MOB YOU FIGHT, who can really pass that up, and who wants to delete all those stupid shards?) it also offers warnings about unfearable mobs, and audible warnings about your soulstone expiring, and nightfall procs, it also makes it a lot easier to keep a healthstone on hand, and as a affliction lock, you’ll also likely want to keep a spellstone up now that Wrath made them halfway decent. Also, Necrosis has a DoTimer like feature for tracking how long your dots have left. In my eyes it totally mitigates any need for DoTimer as a lock. – Nicely put, deveyus!

Thanks to Everyone who added things while this was a wiki page, and thanks to Jame for WoW-Pro, of course!

WLI leveled my warlock as demo as well through outland, but when i reached northrend, the destruction spec, works far better. Through the replenishment proc you dont really go oom and the mobs just drop quicker. The chaosbolt does 4k crits at level 70, which is just less than 50% of the mobs health points than casting immolate and incinerate generally kills the mob. If its especially hardy just throwm in conflagrate and he is dead for sure.

Hybrid Leveling Afflic/DemoCurrently my lvl 24 lock is a hybrid spec (7/8/0) with points in Demo focusing on improving the VW while the rest of my points are going into Afflic. Is this minor hybrid spec worth it at this level? After all, my VW holds aggro much better and we both have more health and my damaging spells heal him. Or is going full Afflic better at this point? This would have my VW’s tanking abilities decrease while my own abilities to kill faster increase.

Just for convinence purposes…If you wanted to send in your minion without having to click [shift+x+alt+home+esc+whatever…], make a macro with the like /petattack (if memory serves to purpose, but i’ll edit that later if i’m wrong…); that way, instead of trying to confuse your fingers with the command or having to move the mouse or whatever you’ll be able to send in your minion without breaking stride. It’s also useful should multiple mobs come hacking your way.

For example, i have a Blood Elf Warlock i use with a friend of mine who’s a Paladin. She doesn’t often notice when she’s being pummeled by multiple mobs, so i can use a void walker to pull them off her while she doesn’t spend all of her mana trying to heal…

    rocking rocksYes it does.
I just use shard for it tough.
Its a lightweight addon that just manages shards and nothing else.
Also, what caught my eye with it :
in game, when i level i want 6 shards, but soon as we start a dungeon, i want more .
With my addon, i just type /shard xxx where xxx stands for the number i want.
It will auto delete all shards over that number, or set to the new number.
    Easy, light and fast.

Only thing i would like more is a way to put the shards in a preference bag, but that would give a higher load ( i like all my shards in the top 6 slots of my second bag from the left, just to keep things organised).

OMGOMG <3 you. Something that gets rid of shards for me so I can use Drain Soul constantly? Getting this ASAP for my lil' warlock. Thanks!

Really? DoTimer still?Really? DoTimer still? Necrosis offers shard management(since with improved Drain Soul you’ll want to get 14% FREE MANA from EVERY MOB YOU FIGHT, who can really pass that up, and who wants to delete all those stupid shards?) it also offers warnings about unfearable mobs, and audible warnings about your soulstone expiring, and nightfall procs, it also makes it a lot easier to keep a healthstone on hand, and as a affliction lock, you’ll also likely want to keep a spellstone up now that Wrath made them halfway decent. Also, Necrosis has a DoTimer like feature for tracking how long your dots have left. In my eyes it totally mitigates any need for DoTimer as a lock.

On a side note, the first time you use necrosis, turn your volume down, the anti-fear warnings and stuff can be rather startling if you aren’t used to them.

It’s in Tier 1 of theIt’s in Tier 1 of the tree.

Sometimes when speccing you skip certain talents in favour of more useful ones, but then go back some of the skipped talents in later levels because they now become more useful to you. Another reason could be that there are better talents available, then in order to unlock the next tier of talents, you neede to put your points in some not-so-important talents to use as ’filler-points. These fulfill the rtequirents to be able to unlock later tiers, yet we didn’t spec into them at the time because they didn’t provide us with as much functionality as others.

Imp. CoA is available to use for your first talent point should you wish, however it is skipped in this guide at that point so just go back to it and put your point in 🙂

Another prime example of this scenario would the the Warrior talent Armored to the Teeth. This talent is available to use from the first point, but there are loads of talents that provide lot more use at this stage. As this talent gets better as you gear up and level, then you spec it (around 60+ is ok, depending on personal preference). Otherwise it is a waste of 3 points until that point.

    Hi
    First of all, thisHi
First of all, this website rocks.
I use it all the time, for many different alts of mine. Its really nice.

My warlock is just over level 20 and have been following this guide, however,
I think the warlocks talent tree must of changed after this guide was posted

    24:
Improved Curse of Agony – 1/2

There is no Improved Curse of Agony available there!

Please fix, I am confused what to spec next! :):)

    Thanks

RE: repeccing cost.Respecs will originally cost 1g, then 5g, 10g, 15g, and so on until the maxiumum of 50g is reached. Each month you go without a respec, the cost will drop by 5g to a minimum of 5g. I hope that clears things up. 🙂

  • img
    Mar 27, 2009 @ 8:18 am

respeccing cost.It does cost more per respec up to a max of 50 gold per time.
every month or so you go without respeccing the cost will lower in segments again to.
So if you dont respec long enough, it will be back to 3 gold i think ( cost of first respec )

The level you are when you are respeccing has no influence on the cost. Just the number of respecs you do, up to a maximum of 50 per respec 🙂

  • img

    Mar 27, 2009 @ 3:09 am

i just realized something…Doesn’t it cost more gold per every respec you do. In other words, think maybe you should add the cost of how much it’s going to be to respec at level 50?

    Just curious…

  • img
    Mar 8, 2009 @ 9:56 am

leveling and respeccingno need to respec.
For leveling you go the most damage you can, wich means demon or affliction.
Both will do great in instances.

No new pets, felguard is the last one. IF you spec demo lock.

i have learned a lot at wowmb.net. wich is a forum with a lot of very seasoned warlocks. may help you greatly for info on your lovely warlock.

While leveling you certainlyWhile leveling you certainly should not waste your money on respeccing every time you visit an instance or join a group. 😉 Especially as a pure damage dealer its not that important what build you have in instances, as long as you have a healer and a tank in your group.

And as far as I know you won’t get a new minion after level 60 🙁

Confusion!I am a level 68 undead lock and have to admit I am still confused as to how to work her- LOL! I have read so much during the time I have been leveling and still dont feel I am getting the most I can out of her. At this point my build is 52/0/7 and I use a void the most. I am really trying to understand the talent tree and what is the best for me. I basically solo but do join others from my guild from time to time for instances, dungeons, etc. Do I need to respec at this time? When do I get a chance for the next minion? Any advice would be greatly appreciated =)

    Thank you!

rotation? macro anyone?I am currently 70, and am a hard core supporter of the Aff-lock build. I found a very helpful macro courtesy of wowwiki, and i think it should still be viable. I think I have worn the paint of the 1 and 2 keys with these. 😉
    10-24: pet VW
    /petattack [nocombat]
/castsequence reset=target/combat Immolate, Curse of Agony, Corruption

    26-39: pet VW
    macro 1. /pet attack[nocombat]
/castsequence reset=target/combat Immolate, Siphon Life, Curse of Agony, Corruption
macro 2. /castsequence reset=target/combat Life Tap, Drain Life

40 and up: FelHunter or Imp (with imp, remove /pet attack)
    Mac 1. /petattack [nocombat]
/castsequence reset=target/combat siphon life, Curse of Agony, Corruption
Mac 2. /castsequence reset=target/combat Dark Pact, Drain Life

level 50 is the major decision, demo or aff. If you stay aff, pick up unstable aff and throw it in front, between combat and siphon life.

sorry that drew on longer than I meant to, just waanted to put that out. Outstanding guide Shinke.

Void or not…i replaced void for a felhunterGood guide to start with…lots of good reading for ppl who dont know all about leveling a lock there is to know.

Nice to see the discussion about the usage of voidwalkers again 🙂 I’ve leveled my affliction lock with a voidwalker up to lv 75 until i found it a felhunter will do the job as well and faster!

Oke, a void is more powerful when it comes to tanking 3+ mobs, but i can manage with my felhunter as well. Key to this is having lots and lots of spirit (next to lots of stamina off course). With a lot of spirit and Fel Armor online you will do much more dmg and will heal much more as well. This will compensate for the fact the mob will start hitting you soon into a fight.

To handle 3+ mobs you sent in your felhunter on one, and heal it a bit when needed. Siphon all mobs youre not directly engaging so you start building up a steady stream of life (this way you can handle the beating you are now getting from at least 3-5 mobs). Keep concentrating on killing one mob at a time, use haunt first when switching to a new mob when current target is dead. Hence repeat and you’ll end up with almost full life, 3+ dead mobs and a felhunter who should be at 70%+ health.

Rotation i use most often: send in felhunter, start haunt when felhunter makes contact, curse of agony, corruption, siphon, mana tap and drain life (or dont mana tap and drain life but drain soul instead when in need of extra mana and/or soul stone)

As you can see i dont use immolation. Only using immolation and other dot’s for boss fights.

    Leveling a lock
I have a level 80 lock and found it very easy, fun, and fast to level. I leveled Demon because I liked to have bad ass pet, but I repecced to Afflic at level 74 and found leveling much faster. If I were to start again I would go 1-80 with Afflic Spec. The KEY is to get out of the 1 mob per kill mentality. Locks are TOO powerful!

Demon: Send Pet, CoA, Corrupt, lifetap, drain life, send pet to new target and repeat. The first one usually follows/attacks pet and if not will drop in a few seconds anyway so ignore. After 3-4 mobs if you have done this correctly (not hard and no uber gear needed) you always end with near full health and mana.
Pet: big blue until felguard (if you pull mobs off pet your using too many spells; let the DoTs work!

Afflic: Pet, CoA, Corrupt, Siphon Life, Dark Pact, Pet–>new target, Siphon Life, CoA, Cor, Dark Pact(or Life Tap if pet’s mana is low), repeat SL,CoA,Cor,DP on every mob u can as fast as possible and ignore them beating on u…SL will keep your health up. If healths drops a little, then you can add a drain life but rarely will you need.
    Pet: Imp until felhunter

    Summary:
Demon: tanking pet, can kill elits 2-3 levels higher
    Afflic: Faster leveling, pets dps

Check out my spec…not PERFECT but great for leveling.

voidy.hehe, i know how you feel.
Simply put, until you get the felguard ( big axy dude ) you will most likely keep using the void in most cases.
My succubis imp and felhunter have seen the light of day for only a few hours each.

Voidy : When running solo against nn magic targets. He rules here.

IMP : only in the beginning and group runs for the buff. OR when you use dark pact ( mana battery ) and even then only in groups AS an affliction lock.

Succubus : only really usable in dungeons where you need extra crowd control. virtually no other pvp use.

Fellhunter : since the last patch, a better mana battery then the imp ( again affl. Lock with dark pact ). Almost the same dps.
VERY handy in pvp, especially vs selfbuffing and debuffing magic users. Quite nice buff for groups to. I would even say better then the imp. Depends on group and preference tough.

Fellguard : outdamages every other pet and can tank / hold agro almost as good as the void ( is more like a succubus damage dealer combined with void armor and a slightly less powerfull theat generation ) all in GREAT for going solo.

As an affliction lock myself now ( after i hit 78 ) and previous a demo fanboy :
Void when you : Play Solo, Do not have fellguard, are not fighting nasty casters all around, are not in pvp.
Otherwise : Felguard ( replaces void when you get it )

Otherwise : Fellhunter : PVP affliction desto and against casters. Or in groups
IMP : in groups depending on melee fighters.
Succubus : PVP aff and desto and dungeons for corwd control.

hope to have made your warlocking life better 🙂
p.s. tough i hate sending people away from this site, wowmb.net is a forum dedicated to locks. Great warlock intel there. Wont help you level tough 😉 For leveling help you want to be here.

To Voidwalker or not to VoidwalkerOk – first off, thanks for the lock guide. I’ve been looking all over for something with substance that I can use to level my lock (had not played my poor lock much because I wasn’t confident about where to place my talent points). And then blammo! Here it is. Personally, I feel good about the talent spec – makes sense to me (although I’m no expert) and I’m certainly seeing a difference in downtime and kill speed.
Right, so here is my problem – you suggest succubus or imp from lvl 20-39 and then felhunter or imp lvl 40-49. I can’t keep the bad guys off me with these pets, so I keep going back to voidwalker.
Do you have any advise on how to best use the various pets in combat? I feel like I’m missing out by just falling back to my now exhasted voidwalker. LOL

Thanks for the answers!Really, thanks for both answers 🙂 I will then bank my soul bag given as reward for the succubus’ quest and keep on using normal bags 🙂 Now , I was going to roll a paladin for the wow pro guild but now I’m pretty unsure 🙂 Probably I’ll level both to 20 and then I’ll decide 😛

    Hi Benhir.

    In reply to yourHi Benhir.

In reply to your question, I’ve got a lvl 75 Lock & imo it’s the most fun class to play. I’ve found levelling a breeze using Jame’s guides.

I personally don’t bother with a soul bag. I don’t tend to use a lot of soul shards. I keep approx 4-5 & just get a few more when needed. I don’t have any down time as I just use life tap when ever needed. Just a case of finding the correct balance with your dots & drain life. It took me some experimenting but once you’ve got it PVE is pretty simple. I did level as Demonology until 70 & then respecced to Affliction. Soz I can’t remember the rotation I used in the early stages.

The “fastest” class to levelThe “fastest” class to level can depend on how you play it. Using the “Volley with 4+ mobs” on my hunter was fastest of what I played, but this is for sure 2nd fastest. And thanks for bringing up the Soul Shards / Soul Bag. Adding this to my guide:

You shouldn’t ever need a Soul Bag. You won’t be carrying enough SS’s. You should only have as many as you need. I keep 5 – 7 with me at all times (excess SS’s gathered from fights are deleted). With 5 – 7 You’ll always be able to summon a different minion, create a Soul Stone / Health Stone. If you’re going into an instance, make sure you start with 10+ though. Clean out your bags, that sort of thing.

Although the class quests are very slow, you’re beat there. 😛

    Thanks for the question 🙂

Fellow Warlocks, some questions for you.Having read this guide, I went back to my Warlock (an undead on thunderhorn EU) who was at level 22 and I did the Succubus quest. It was quite a long but easy journey that lead me at some thoughts.

(sorry for the annoying foreword but I’m coming to the point)

Is this class the most quicker to level? Class’ quest take a long time, you have one less bag due to the soul bag (but here comes the hunter’s arrow bag) and if you run out of soul shards you have to spend time with the imp to gather some SS 😛 This can make up a lot of “wasted” played time. Having seen a lot of screenshots and reports about Locks being able to literaly own the /played time , I wonder how the hell can a class with those losses of time be so fast. I’m leveling has demonology at the moment and probably I will see the real “lock power” when I get the Felguard, but I think that some kind of “proof” can be pleasing for me. I’m sorry for the grammar but I’m kinda tired at the moment 🙂

No no it’s my fault notNo no it’s my fault not yours. I as a guide writer have to take the criticism and respect the critic, that is my fault for blowing up like that.

    Don’t apologize for help. Please.

Ah, my bad. I apologiseAh, my bad. I apologise completely to both the author and the community. I’ll refrain from giving criticism to try and increase the quality of a guide in future for fear of upsetting someone.

    Very sorry.

Why don’t you just change the name of the guide?Even though I am not playing my warlock anymore, it was fun to play with a lot of combination. I have levelled my warlock to 70 with affliction and demonology spec. Both of them completely viable levelling specs. Didn’t try destro but read too much about it.

Yes, you can level with destro also but it requires more patience but you can PvP with this spec also during levelling more easily then others.

According to warlock community, general believe is, level with affliction/demonology and after 80, start raiding with affliction. (Demonology is also good). After getting viable gear, start combination of destro builds.

Anyway, what I want to say is, please change your guide name to “Warlock Levelling Guide with Affliction Spec” or something else and there will be no problem.

Maybe in future somebody else will write demonology levelling specs and tips. (even me 😉 if I can find enough time )

We are here in good community and please try to give or take comment in more polite way.

    Regards

It’s a warlock levelingIt’s a warlock leveling guide, talents and tips. All it needs to do is provide one good leveling spec.

I’m personally sharing the opinion that Affliction up to 50 and then respec to Demonology is the way to go for leveling a lock.

Yes, there are other viable ways, but there’s no need to overload this guide with 3 different specs, if one works great. It just confuses people if you tell them “hey all these 3 specs are great, pick whichever you want”.

So it’s fine as it is. However, if someone wants to make a warlock leveling guide – talents and tips for other talent specs, then that’s great. People can choose whichever guide they like, and the ratings will determine which is the best in the long run.

And please guys, keep your cool.

If you seem to know so muchIf you seem to know so much about guides and what to name them AND so much about Warlocks, why don’t you write a guide for a change?

Be pissy all you like, IBe pissy all you like, I don’t mind, I’ll simply stop being considerate and patient.

Its a poor guide because it does not give the reader all of the information required to know which way to go with this class. A dps class has three perfectly viable leveling specs not giving info on two of them while proclaiming to be a ‘Warlock Guide’ is misleading and a little shoddy. This is more like one third of a guide. I said earlier that it was a good guide for what it included and I stand by that but I think it is unfinished.

If you don’t like mild criticism then don’t post guide on a community site that prefers high quality over high turnover.

I wish people would spend more than a few hours on a guide before publishing it.

The reason it is the name itThe reason it is the name it is, is because I’m merely following the format of the other 5 guides similar to this one. They all suggest a leveling build, have rotations and tips, gear to get, stats in order, and everything else. Maybe you should check those out before telling me what to name my guide.

And I picked Affliction because this is MY guide and I wrote it. And in my opinion Affliction is the best build 1-50 and then switching to Demonology. If it were someone elses guide they might pick a different spec, but not me! I <3 Affliction and I used it with almost no downtime and I NEVER had to sit after a battle.

If you're so happy about Demonology then maybe you should write a guide on it?

Sorry, I'm in a pissy mood today.

This guide is a bit biasedThis guide is a bit biased towards affliction. To make this guide great it needs to be impartial. Demonology is probably a better leveling spec after you get your fel-guard. Best way around all of this is to have a little section on all three specs and what is good and bad about them as well as suggested talent builds. This is a warlcok leveling guide in my opinion and the titel is a touch misleading. Either expand on this or alter the title, most people tend to come searching for guide either very early on (level 1?) or very late on (level 80 :p) and this is very much a guide to leveling as affliction more than anything else. Title should be clearer.

For example all specs have plus points and minus points o.O

Affliction: Slow to kill stuff but very little downtime. Decent survivability.
Demonology: Kills stuff moderately fast and has good survivability. Some downtime. (The compromise spec imo.)
Destruction: Poor survivability, terrible downtime, kill stuff insanely fast. Can be decent for leveling in excellent gear (70-80).

So you’re better off giving people the facts and then letting them come to their own decision. A good guide should inform not try to push a personal opinion.

Nice for what it is but needs more.

some notes.Hi, i have just this piece for the second time, and all in guess it is very usefull.
As a “old” Warlock myself, i do however have some comments here and there.

As stats you say spell hit. Actually, i disagree.
Spell hit till capped IS important for DPS on higher level bosses etcetera. But for similar or just 1 level hgher, it has almost no use. Spell hit only gets important when you raid. Wich is end content. For leveling, spell power -> stam -> spirit -> hit -> int.

Also, you say affliction is the best leveling bet AND you advocate the use of the fellhunter. I tent to disagree here to. I found for leveling, demonologie was waaay better. ( i have been swapping regulary ) and as a demo lock, i allways used the void, till the point i got my fellguard.
In all my leveling as a demo lock, i ate / drank 3 times or so. Allways found myself selling full stacks of food and drink after i leveled to much to have them give me enough.
As an affliction lock i was wayy more likely to go out of mana and need to drink untill after level 45. Also, as a demo lock, forget the repair bills, you never get hit enough to warrant repairing, all gear will be replaced before they go broke / yellow.

Demonology makes you almost unkillable in PVE for leveling, and also able to kill almost every elite group target you need. Even better then with affliction. Affliction is awesome for grinding and targeting more then 1 regular mob.
As an affliction lock, you can easy stay alive with kiting and running, or even draintanking ( take their health as needed to stay alive while they die of DoTs.

Desto is only good for high level raiders with massive +crit and +hit.
