This is a list of guides that are still needed by the WoW-Pro community. Before you start a new guide or wiki page, please always check this list and choose your topic from it. This is to prevent people from starting several guides about the same subject. If you absolutely want to write a guide about a topic which is already covered, your guide should at least contain major improvements/differences compared to the already existing guide.

If you decide to write a guide about a topic here, please read Jame's Guide Writing Guide first. Then leave a comment here informing us of the subject you chose to cover. We will then update the list with your name.

Read Me!

Before you sign in for revamping or writing a guide, you should read Jame's Guide Writing Guide. If you want more detailed and specific tips, check out the other guides in the Guide Writing Category.

Now that you know what to do, you can take a look at the needed guide list. It might look a bit confusing on first sight but it's really easy:

In the Status column you can see what the current status of every guide is:

NeededThe guide has not been written yet, and is needed. Feel free to sign up for these guides!
Revisions The guide has been written, but it needs improvements. Numbers behind the status will forward you to posts with information on the needed improvements. Usually this includes major formatting issues or updates for recent content patches.
In ProgressThe guide has been assigned to someone and they are in the process of writing it.
Complete If the guide has been completed, a link to it will be left up for a little while for your convenience. It will be removed after a week or two.


Now that you're informed about what needs to be done, you have to look at the Progress column if the guide is already in work.

A indicates that there is no one working on this guide at the moment, so feel free to do it!

A tells you that there is someone working on that guide, if you click on the icon you will be redirected to the editors user-page.

If you found a guide that suits you and no one else is working at, you can either write a comment so that someone can add you to the list, or you can try to add yourself.

Please give us an update every week (at least) by changing the Last Updated column and giving some information about your progress in the Progress column so that everyone who wants to know can check how far you are. If we don't hear from you in over a week, and someone else wants to take over revising/writing that section of the guide, it's fair game! This way parts of the guide won't be left unfinished.

Cenarion Circle

is there a cenarion circle guide? somewhere on the web mayby because the only way i know of for their rep is to farm those twilight thingies but the cenarion circle as alot quests can someone make a guild in what good way you can do it so that they all follow up on eachother?

Hey, I am still trying to figure out my Death Knight. Recently dinged 80 and trying to figure out his end game. Problem is, I ca't find a PuG to run instances with and all the decent guilds on my server are either casual "social" guilds, or the hardcore, everyone decked out in Epic's type guilds.

Guess what I am trying to say is that the only way I can really see myself getting any kind of Epic gear is t work through the BG's for the next few weeks. Problem is I can't seem to find a decent rotation that works well in PvP situations. Was hoping someone might like to volunteer their time to write a guide.

Needed Guides Update and PURGE

Attention folks!

If you are listed as working on a guide and have not given us an update in the last two weeks, PLEASE post a comment here letting us know you are still working on it.

I will be "purging" claims on guides this weekend, so anyone who hasn't let us know within the last two weeks that they are still working on their guide will be listed as not working on it, allowing someone else to start a guide on that subject.

If the person to be "purged" has been an active guide writer in the past I will send a message and give a few days for a response before purging their name from the list.

Heroics are outside raids, so the gear would count and should be included, as well as any gear you can get from the Argent Tournament. The name of your guide could be something like "Moonkin Pre-Raid Gear Guide". As a Balance Druid, we know you are going to be DPS, but think about putting a note on any gear that is also good for Restoration Druids in case of Balance/Restoration Dual Spec. Also, make sure you read Jame's Guide Writing Guide before you start. It will help immensely. Hope this helps.

I do plan to write one, and will probably write guides for each holiday as they come along following the pattern of my Brewfest guide. However, don't expect this one completed by this weekend, I have been quite busy with grad school of late so it may be halfway through the holiday when this is released. Sorry!

Moonkin dps guide outside of raids

Ok since you're a mod I was wondering if you coud help me.I would love to make a guide on the best gear for a moonkin dps outside of raids but, I need to know what you consider a raid I think a raid is anything above a group of 5-man's, 10-man+ I know some people who say a 5-man is a raid.
Also, Could the name go under pre-raid gear?

You are correct. Raids consist of 10 or 25 players. 5-man raids do not exist. They are called heroic/ regular dungeon groups.

Horde 1-17 Gold Guide

Hey Guys, I think this is where i post it...
anyway, I felt like leveling a Horde toon on Blackrock the otherday and by level 17, I had 74g and another 25g worth of items(approx). Im not sure if this guide would be needed as it covers the basic "Know-How" stuff that most people should know Sticking out tongue The upside is that I didn't have any AH experience, as I went along, I started getting ideas that realy worked well.

Anyway, hope it can be added Eye

This is indeed the right place to handle that question.

First, I definitely recommend going through the [rul=http://www.wow-pro.com/gold_making_guides]Gold making guide category[/url] on this site and make sure the stuff you want to write about isn't already on there. We have a LOT of gold making guides. Specifically, please check our excellent compilation, WoW-Pro Gold Making Guide by eric. It has most of the best tips from the other guides.

If what you want to write about has not been covered, or if it has only been covered in low-quality (1 or 2 star) guides, then go ahead and make your guide. Regardless, it's good to see that you want to add to the community here on WoW-Pro Smiling Let me know if you have any questions!

While I'm at it, I decided to revamp my First Aid Guide too.

Didn't do as much with that one as with the Lockpicking Guide, but I was at unease with it, and felt something had to be done Sticking out tongue

I will keep on revamping my own guides, and then perhaps I will start revamping other out-dated guides. Imo, the main issue (except from Jame being absent) on this site is the quality of many guides. Another thing annoying me is the great variety of styles and layout on the guides here. I think they should all follow the same pattern, with a minimal difference, which is bound to happen because there are different authors. I will make a news post sometime in the future about this if there is agreement on this subject. There must be a purge and renewal.

Hmmm, agreed, we should probably start some forum discussion about this sort of thing, and other ideas to improve the site. Probably under the "suggestions" section. I do wish the forums were a bit more forum-like and less like guide pages with comments, but it will do for now. Some kind of IRC would be best, of course, but I don't know how to set that kind of thing up even using an external client. If someone else does, though, that might be an option for this kind of discussion.

Blackrock Depths Easy Farming

Sounds like a nice little guide, go ahead and write it Smiling Be sure to include the reason someone would want to farm them, for example is the loot better than what you get in Outland, does it have a lower level limit and is therefore usable by more people? And include directions for those without the remote as well, since many do not have it. But yeah, this sounds like it could be a fun guide Smiling

A couple of questions...

Hi all, totally new - recently found the site, love the guides. I am a profesion addict in wow and have leveled a ton of horde toons (no alliance) in various skills - all of them maxed on cooking.

The guide looks great. I have a few questions - hopefully this is the right place to post them. It is a long post for which I am sorry.

I am confused as to why (if the toon is 70) you start the horde in Bloodhoof Village? Fishing in Org/Tb puts you right by the trainers and the same fish come from those pools to cook.

Consumables.
You mention aquadynamic attractors, but not the other lures - and suggest construction not purchase. On my servers the mats cost more than buying them from vendors/ah. New fishers may be unaware of these sources or the alternatives eg fish hooks.
The Captain's lager (+10 skill) stacks with lures and has no level requirement - cheaply made it is great esp. at low levels.

An alternative strategy:
Fishing endlessly in non lucrative low end pools to upskill can be tiresome with limited rewards. Buying mats/fishing cash crop in the begining is a viable, expedient, time saving alternative to skill both professions.

There are cheap options to begin levelling cooking eg meaty bat wings, fish. The same time spent fishing near WC returns that cost to you quickly. With the fishing skill abolished you can start there, get some low fish to cook and Deviate fish. Deviate fish sell well - cooked or raw - on all ah's. Only downside is a need to run to the trainer.

Fishing Suppliers:

Will you including a list/link of fishing suppliers? I have found when helping others skill up they are unaware that the fishing suppliers stock cooking recipes, especially those that are obscure.

eg: Horde players frequently don't know where to get the slitherskin mackerel pattern - Martin Trablay in Trisfal Glades just outside UC, or Zansoa in Sen'jn village .. that cooking skill oportunity is wasted if you don't know what patterns exist or where to get them.

That said - the intent is for a nice quick circuit and unless you detour outside UC on your way to hillsbrad the time spent obtaining the pattern may be longer than fishing those extra fish for the cooking skill.

Outland Dailies/Northrend fishing.
You don't mention these. I found the outlands dailies useful - the cooking ones give both meat/fish and recipes, while the fishing one gives lures and + fishing gear. The + fishing gear, lures and lines are useful since even when you hit 450 you still want the + skill to reduce junk drops.

I think the guide has great content - reading it I now know to go turn in my old poles for new ones with Nat!

Hi, sorry I did think I had posted it onto the page where the guide was, since I used the link from that page to get there. I do not know how to paste it across - whilst I play wow I've not used forums much.

I'm sorry peeps, I have done the Horde section of the 1-300 skinning guide, but I believe I have bitten off far more than I can chew. This means that I have given up completing the guide, I wish good luck to whom ever decides to write it. Feel free to use what I have already written, (it's a bit of a mess) as long as I get some credit then I'll be happy. Ah well, sorry again...

Check if there is a Spanish WoWhead first, it would be best if it was linked there. If not, that's fine and just link it to the normal one if you want.

If you create a new guide page with you as the author, then send me the link and tell me what guide you want to work on, I can post the guide in English on that page and you can translate it that way. If there is an easier way you'd like to try, let me know.

rogue guide

hey there

in the rogue guides i noticed there wasn't anything on leveling mutilate, (though i could be mistaken) and i've been leveling mutilate since 50 (almost 70 now). and maybe in the guide just some general leveling tips for all rogues. if someone could pencil me in on this that would be great.

oh yeah. i leveled a little bit as assassination pre-mut so i could include tips on that too. thanks!

I think that would be an awesome guide to add to WoW-Pro.

To cut down on the work, you might want to release it in parts. Additionally, I wouldn't cover everything about each instance - JUST cover how to get the achievements. Assume people already have a basic grasp of the boss fight. If we have a guide for that instance on the site, link them to that guide.

I would be please to help out with this guide if you need anything, particularly in terms of formatting and editing, where my strengths lie Smiling
