This is the ultimate guide to complete 100% of Final Fantasy 16

This is more than just a Platinum Trophy guide, we’ll get everything.

 

• All 50 Trophies including The Chronicler platinum trophy
• All items, even the not important ones, every Potion will be looted! Every gil will be collected!
• All Side Quests

 

Basically, we’ll farm everything, every Gil, material or consumable will be found and looted if you follow this guide. You’ll finish your first playthrough with plenty of materials to do anything you want in your New Game+ (Final Fantasy Mode Playthrough).

 

I’ve planned this guide to do everything in the most efficient order, so that we never hit difficulty walls and complete the full game with as little deaths as possible. Every upgrade that can help will be obtained at the right moment, you’ll be warned in advance of every ambush and trap, there will be an optimal strategy for each of the enemies and Bosses which require one.

• If you’ve never played a Final Fantasy game before, I guarantee you will Platinum this game without any problems if you follow my guide.
• If you’re a casual gamer or 70+ year old with bad reflexes, I guarantee you will Platinum this game too.
• If you’re a veteran FF player, I guarantee you won’t regret following this guide, it will save you a lot of time and you’ll probably learn a few tricks and hidden game mechanics.

We’ll start the game with a few basic combat mechanics, get some early upgrades and progressively add more tools to our arsenal and explore some advanced combat tactics as well as new game mechanics which only exist in Final Fantasy 16.

 

Settings

The Guide’s format

 

This is a double format Guide. There is a full video walkthrough AND a very compact text walkthrough.

The video walkthrough will contain more detailed combat tips, so I suggest you check them out.

Each video will have a list of timecodes with all the important moments in the episodes:

• Timecode for each Item obtained
• Timecode for each Combat tip and boss strategy
• Timecode for each Important info given
• Timecode for each Trophy obtained

 

All cut scenes and NPC dialogues will be included, but if you want to skip them it will be quite easy to do so: each video will be spilt into chapters, with clear labels so you can skip the parts you don’t want to watch or would rather watch on your own.

The text version of my Final Fantasy 16 Walkthrough should also be quite useful, it is very compact, and whenever the direction or explanation isn’t detailed enough, you can always check the video to get a clearer direction.

 

FAQ

Q: Will I get all trophies, including the platinum, if I follow your guide?

A: Yes of course. But much more than that. You’ll get everything you can possibly get in one playthrough. All items, weapons, spells, etc. Everything.

 

Q: Do I have to follow your character build exactly ?

A: No. You can follow this guide and do your own build and you’ll be fine. However, this is a very optimized guide and I believe the builds I use are very optimized and powerful. Some strategies in the later part of the game are specific to my build, so you’ll have to find your own strategies if you don’t have the same Abilities / Eikonic / Gear loadout. However, FF16 is very flexible with respecing. You can reset all your Ability Points at any moment for free, so you can copy my build at any point if you’re struggling.

 

Q: Can I follow your guide if I’m on PC / PS / Xbox?

A: Not yet. This is a PlayStation exclusive for now, but there will be a PC release and my guide will be 100% compatible with the PC version. The achievements will be the same.

Q: Can I use the Special Accessories, such as the Ring of Timely Focus for example?

A: Yes. I actually recommend using the Ring of Timely Focus and not the “Auto-Evade” one, because this allows you to do other things than evading: Parrying, Countering, etc.

• Cinematic Strike, Cinematic Evade, Cut Scene
• Play Passively, Precision Counter Shots
• At 80%, cut scene – New Ability Learned: Spitflare

• Use Spitflare to do a ton of damage while also countering the bubbles, similar to Heatwave, but hold R2 for the full duration to do even more damage
• A 60% HP, cut scene, switch to Phoenix

• As Phoenix, at the start use mostly charged L2 for volleys while paying attention to what’s coming. Focus on Dodging.
• Kill Bahamut’s orbs as priority. The small orbs (6 of them) die to a single charged L2.
• Use Charged R2 for the Big Orbs  (2 of them)
• As he prepares Gigaflare, charged R2 on all 6 Big Orbs as quickly as you can
• Charged R2 is better for single target damage when you get a clean window to strike
• Pro tip: you can charge R2 while charging and casting L2 volleys
• At about 30% HP, cut scene, back as Ifrit

• Use Spitflare and Brimstone to counter Megaflares, then just Dodge the rest of the attacks
• Teraflare : get behind Phoenix when he tells you to –> Cinematic Clash
• At 10% HP, Cut Scene –> Cinematic Clash –> Cinematic Clash

• 50x Sharp Fang
• 5x Meteorite

• Cinematic Strike
• Safest way to not take damage is to use Lightspeed to chase Bahamut whenever he creates some distance, and then try to circle around him to end up behind him. This will take care of most of the big attacks and you can land some melee combos while he’s performing those moves.
• Aura Burst: just wait for the Dodge Prompt, you can get in close and Dodge towards Bahamut, then follow up with Melee attacks
• Supernova: wait for the Dodge Prompt
• Radiance: use Spitfire or Brimstone
• Megaflire: Wildfire to one side to run away from the beams, wait for the Dodge Prompt
• At 60HP, Cinematic Dodge

• Save Spitfire to interrupt Radiance and Teraflare
• If he uses Celestial Foundry, quickly use (X) twice and then Dodge to dash behind Behamut
• Check the video for more detailed instructions on how to avoid all attacks and do safe damage
• Especially useful if you want to try to get the No Damage for the Medal of Valor.
• At 10% HP, Cut Scene –> Cinematic Clash

• Use Wings of Light (L2) and then do 3 Precision Dodges (you have to perform the 3 Dodges BEFORE Megaflare is charged to LEVEL 4, so use Taunt to speed up the process). It’s probably easier to do it on the last wave of enemies with the Elite one, who is a lot more aggressive, so you will get your 3 Dodges before charging up Megaflare to LEVEL 4.
• Wait until Megaflare is LEVEL 4 before releasing it (Hit L2 again), there’s another trophy  where we need to do 100 Hits with a Level 2 Megaflare or higher.
• In my experience it’s always better to reach Megaflare LEVEL 4
• If you don’t attack the enemies and just watch them get destroyed by Megaflare you’ll unlock both trophies in this battle.

• Our new Stagger Max damage combo starts with Lightning Rod and finishes with Gigaflare.
• Gigaflare will easily hit through the Lightning Rod, doing boss direct damage to the enemy + Lightning Rod damage
• Ideally, the combo should go like this:
  • Lightning Rod
  • Limit Break
  • Position yourself so Lighting Rod stands between you and the enemy
  • Heatwave
  • Gigaflare
  • If you have the time to squeeze in other Abilities to raise the Stagger Damage before you do Heatwave / Gigaflare, it’s even better

• Use Stoneskin Tonic, try to keep it active for safety. This boss hits really hard
• Use Lightning Rod + Flames of Rebirth and Gigaflare early in the fight. They will be ready again for the Stagger, because this boss is that tough.
• Start with Heatwave to counter the bubbles when he casts Blazing Legion
• Then Focus on Dodging to cast Megaflare Level 4 as often as possible
• Then go in melee and Counter with Raging Fists / Titanic Counters
• The Spinning Dive can be countered with Raging Fists, but the prompt doesn’t always trigger, so you better do it manually
• When he uses Embroil, don’t try to counter it, Dodge it to build up Megaflare. You can also jump over the shockwave after the meteor lands.
• If you die, return to Title and load the save we just made
