Throughout history, some truly iconic online games have been released, including the likes of World of Warcraft, EverQuest and Fortnite. Flash forward to 2023, and many of these online games are still holding their own and pulling in huge player counts. As they say, classic games never die.

Currently, there’s a bit of a drought going on when it comes to new online games. Therefore, now is a great time to look over some of the best online games that you can still play today. Over the years, you simply might not have had the time to play them before, so you’re in for a treat.

Online Roulette

Online roulette is a great example of a casino game that will never lose its popularity.

For over 20 years, people have been playing online roulette — but why is this? It’s simple, really.

  • Online roulette is super fun
  • You don’t need to be an expert to play it
  • There’s the opportunity to win real money if you place successful bets

If you play online roulette at Jackpot City, all you need to do is choose how much money you want to bet (e.g., $3), choose RED or BLACK, hit the SPIN button, and wait to see where that beautiful roulette ball lands. If it lands on the color you chose, you’ll walk away with bigger pockets than you arrived with. Best of all, JackpotCity Casino is an online casino that allows you to play on PC, mobile, or tablet, so go with what you’re most comfortable with.

World of Warcraft

World of Warcraft is absolutely worth your time in 2023.

Much like GTA, World of Warcraft has captured the hearts and imaginations of players all around the world, with many critics classing it as the greatest MMORPG of all time. Despite being originally released all the way back in 2004, the concept and gameplay of World of Warcraft have yet to get old. In fact, it’s fair to say that World of Warcraft is more fun than it’s ever been.

If you want to experience what WoW feels like in the modern day, then you’ll need to pay a monthly subscription. However, the price is more than worth it, as WoW is still far superior to some of the new MMORPG games on the market.

Final Fantasy XIV

Final Fantasy 14 (FFXIV) is one of the standout success stories in the MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game) industry. Originally launched in 2010 and then relaunched in 2013 as “Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn,” the game has continued to defy expectations by not only recovering from its initially rocky launch but growing steadily in both player count and critical acclaim. As of 2023, a decade since its relaunch, FFXIV remains one of the top MMORPGs worldwide. Here’s why:

Final Fantasy 14 (FFXIV), since its relaunch as “Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn” in 2013, has become an iconic success in the MMORPG industry. Its enduring allure can be attributed to several factors:

Square Enix’s unwavering support is evident in their regular updates, expansions, and attention to player feedback, ensuring the game remains fresh and updated. Additionally, FFXIV stands out for its compelling storytelling, providing an engaging narrative depth seldom seen in MMORPGs, drawing players into its intricate world.

The game boasts a notably inclusive community, fostering an environment that is welcoming for newbies while remaining engaging for veterans. This positive atmosphere is complemented by the game’s flexible job system, allowing players to seamlessly switch between classes, adding layers of versatility and depth to gameplay.

FFXIV’s expansions are another testament to its quality. Each one, from Heavensward to Endwalker, has been critically acclaimed, consistently introducing new and exciting content. The game’s diverse gameplay ensures a wide appeal, catering to those keen on challenging raids, crafting, role-playing, or even just exploring its vast world.

Visually and audibly, FFXIV is a masterpiece.

Old School RuneScape

Back in the 2000s, RuneScape was popular at the same time as WoW. These two MMORPG games essentially went head-to-head in a battle to steal players from each other — and it was epic to see. Truthfully, the battle ended in a draw, which is why players still have the same debate today: which MMORPG was better, RuneScape or World of Warcraft?

If you were #TeamRunescape, then you can go down memory lane by playing Old School RuneScape, which is free to play and exactly the same as it was when it first came out. Plus, you can play it on mobile now, which is something that wasn’t possible in the 2000s.

GTA Online

Can you believe it’s been over a decade since GTA V and its online extension ‘GTA Online” were released?

Yep, that’s right: GTA Online is officially 10 years old. To the shock of fans and critics, it still holds up. This is highlighted by the fact that (even in 2023) over 90,000 log into GTA Online every single day.

GTA Online has stood the test of time primarily because it’s non-stop fun. You can conduct bank heists, get into shootouts, buy houses, drive fast cars, and pretty much everything else in between. Essentially, it’s a GTA fan’s dream!
