This is a REAL 100% Walkthrough. I’m well over 1500+ hours of preparation for this guide to make sure not a single item was missed and to complete 100% of Elden Ring as efficiently as possible!

Basically, we’ll farm everything, every Golden Rune, material or consumable will be found and looted if you follow this guide. You’ll finish your first playthrough with plenty of materials to do anything you want in your New Game+ or Co-op / PvP game after.

I’ve planned this guide to do everything in the most efficient order, so that we never hit difficulty walls and complete the full game with as little deaths as possible. Every upgrade that can help will be obtained at the right moment, you’ll be warned in advance of every ambush and trap, there will be an optimal strategy for each of the 170 bosses in Elden Ring.

If you’ve never played a souls game before, I guarantee you will Platinum this game without any problems if you follow my guide.
If you’re a casual gamer or 70+ year old with bad reflexes, I guarantee you will Platinum this game too.
If you’re a veteran souls player, I guarantee you won’t regret following this guide, it will save you a lot of time and you’ll probably learn a few tricks and hidden game mechanics.

We’ll start the game with a few basic combat mechanics, get some early upgrades and progressively add more tools to our arsenal and explore some advanced combat tactics as well as new game mechanics which only exist in Elden Ring.

The Build

We’ll start with a very simple quality build and keep it that way in the early game. We’ll be very powerful and kill our first two Shardbearers that way.

Then we’ll use a single Larval Tear to respec and go a different route. We’ll be go heavy in INT and switch to one of the strongest weapons in the game, Moonveil, which will not only make us extremely strong in melee, but also have access to a range of Sorceries which will make us even more powerful and versatile.

About midway through our adventure, we’ll also acquire the most iconic weapon in all souls games: the Dark Moon Greatsword, which will make us even stronger. That’s the general path we’ll take, but there will be many other surprises and upgrades we’ll pick up along the way. We’ll of course use Summons, Ashes of war, Shields and strong counters. We’ll also use a bit of crafting in certain situations to use pots. And we’ll use Perfumes, which are incredibly underrated.

One of my goals was to showcase a very strong yet versatile character build, instead of a one-trick pony type of character. I wished I could have included more variety, such as Incantations and Dragon Communion Incantations, but it would’ve required more respecing to make this viable and keep our power curve above the enemies we encounter. So I kept it simple and focused primarily on making this build simple, efficient and most importantly: get us through Elden Ring without any painful hurdles such as dying 10+ times to the same boss or difficult area.

The Guide’s format

This is a double format Guide. There is a full video walkthrough AND a very compact text walkthrough.

The video walkthrough will contain more detailed combat tips, so I suggest you check them out.

Each video will have a list of timecodes with all the important moments in the episodes:

All cut scenes and NPC dialogues will be included, but if you want to skip them it will be quite easy to do so: each video will be spilt into chapters, with clear labels so you can skip the parts you don’t want to watch or would rather watch on your own.

The text version of my Elden Ring walkthrough should also be quite useful, it is very compact, and whenever the direction or explanation isn’t detailed enough, you can always check the video to get a clearer direction.

FAQ

Q: Will I get all trophies, including the platinum, if I follow your guide?

A: Yes of course. But much more than that. You’ll get everything you can possibly get in one playthrough. All items, weapons, spells, etc. Everything.

Q: Do I have to follow your character build exactly ?

A: No. You can follow this guide and do your own build and you’ll be fine. However, this is a very optimized guide and I believe the builds I use are extremely fun and powerful. Some strategies in the later part of the game are specific to my build, so you’ll have to find your own strategies if you don’t have the same skills / spells.

Q: Can I follow your guide if I’m on PC / PS / Xbox?

A: Yes. This guide works for ALL platforms.

Q: Is there a way to get the Gesture: The Ring if I didn’t preorder the game?

A: Yes. You have to play co-op and defeat a boss with someone who preordered the game.

Q: Why don’t you enable the Martyr Effigy?

A: Because it’s a personal choice. Many players don’t want to play Elden Ring (or other Souls games) online, no co-op and no PvP. Once you enable a Martyr Effigy, there is no way to disable it. So it’s really a matter of preferences. If you don’t want to PvP or to co-op at a specific location, you should never enable that Martyr Effigy. Also, this guide is 100% focused on PvE. It’s not a PvP guide or a co-op guide. It’s actually everything but that.

Q: Are you also covering rare drops from farmable enemies?

A: No. The guide would be way too long. The only exception will be the Brass Shield because we’ll use it in our build and it’s probably the best shield in the game in terms of weight / strength requirement to Guard Boost ratio. None of the other farmable rare drops are necessary, because the best items in the game are guaranteed drops.

Character creation

Origin: Samurai

You can pick a different origin if you like, especially if you want to take a different path for your character build.

But in the end it doesn’t really matter, at high level those starting attributes won’t matter at all.

Let me tell you why Samurai is a good starting class:

Katana is an amazing weapon with great stats, innate bleed buildup and one of the best Ashes of War in the game
Samurai starts with a Longbow, which will be quite useful early on
The starting stats spread is perfect for our quality build and the unique weapon we’ll switch to soon.

Keepsake: Lands Between Rune is the best choice, it gives us some early runes to spend to have an easier start

Why not pick the Golden Seed? Because we’ll get plenty Golden Seeds early and reach the maximum amount of flask charges regardless. We’ll finish the game with 12 extra Golden Seeds, so it’s useless to pick this keepsake.
Why not pick the Stonesword Key? Because we’ll finish our first playthrough with 34 Stonesword Keys to spare, and that’s after opening every single imp statue.
Why not pick any other other item? Because we’ll get them all during our first platythrough anyway.

EPISODE 61: COMPACT TEXT GUIDE FORMAT

From Church of Plague

Northeast of church, find sundial by cliff’s edge:

Starlight Shards

North to a big tombstone guarded by a wizard. Kill it then loot corpse:

Behind is a fake wall in the cliff, enter it to find Site of Grace: Sellia Hideaway

Progress through first tunnel, kill one miner, find corpse at the end:

Behind is another fake wall. Kill miner. Go further and clear a 3rd fake wall.

Room with big crystals, walk halfway on the big crystal beam, jump down southwest to access alcove, kill miner, loot corpse:

East back to start of this room using the crystals to jump back down

Big crystal beam again, all the way northwest, drop down North/northeast to lower beam. Sprint Jump over North/Northwest platform with 3 snails.

Follow the ledge north, kill 2 miners, loot corpse:

4x Glowstone

Jump to next platform East/Southeast, hug right wall until long beam going south, take it, kill a snail. Continue onto the next beam, then drop down to the bottom.

Kill Snail + Glintstone Mage guarding a sealed door

Examine – You’ll use the Sellian Sealbreaker we got from Sorceress Sellen‘s quest

Behind sealed gate, talk Lusat to get:

Stars of Ruin (3 out of 7 Spells for the Legendary Sorceries and Incantations Achievement)

Run back over the crystal slope and on top of it you can safely nuke the revenant below. Loot corpses:

Take Northwest tunnel back up:

Somber Smithing Stone [4] (corpse on the way back up)

Follow northeast ledge again, jump east over the gap again. This time don’t take the beam down, keep hugging right wall until large room with many big crystals.

Hug right wall, climb up a crystal southwest to drop down another crystal and immediately drop down on another crystal south/southwest to find a cave with a hole. Jump down and kill 3 Mages (get the jump on them with Moonveil’s L2/R1, yo can hit all 3 with it if you’re positioned correctly)

Once you’ve beat them:

Crystalian Ashes (one of the most resilient summons in the game if enemies don’t have Crushing type damage)

Southwest tunnel out of this room, drop down at the other end and then Northeast to go back inside the large room with big crystals. Work your way back to the top, kill some snails on the way. Once you’re at the top of this room again:

Northwest accross the room to find corpse in corner:

3x Preserving Boluses

From this corpse, face northwest and destroy a 4th fake wall:

Crystal Spear (chest)

Work your way down, find corpse in northeast corner:

10x Crystal Dart

Take Southwest tunnel, kill 4 Snails on the way to boss fog.

Prepare for boss. 3x Crystalians (Staff, Spear & Ringblade):

Tough fight – Check video

Hotkey Preserving Boluses (they’ll probably Scarlet Rot you)

Make sure you have at least 3+ Preserving Boluses

Summon Engvall immediately

Goal is to Stagger the Crystalian (Staff) first, it’s the most dangerous.

Fully Charged Attack + Moonveil’s R2 + Any attack should be enough to stagger.

Then keep staggering Crystallian (Staff) as much as possible to kill it fast while Engvall offtanks the other two.

Then deal with Crystallian (Spear). Keep sprinting in circles to put some range between you and the remaining two crystallation.

Use Rock Sling to get a Stagger from range, then finish the job with Moonveil’s R2

If possible try to use it when both are aligned to get a 2 for 1.

Southwest kill the pot-throwing Troll at the cliff’s edge. He doesn’t respawn so let’s get rid of him once and for all.

North to Sellia Gateway and sneak in, 3x Invisible Mages await you inside, I suggest aggroing them and running back out of line of sight. Then take them out with 2x Charged Canon of Haima. Loots on bridge:

Southeast path up back to Minor Erdtree, then check video so see how to get down from the mountain.

Watch out not to wake up the Colossus at the bottom. This one is very strong.

At the bottom solve the “Redmane” painting, that’s our 4th Painting Riddle solved. 3 more to go.

Ash of War: Rain of Arrows

There’s a sleeping Golem Mage here, it is very tough, don’t try to kill it is my advice

Sneak to the sleeping Golem to grab item while he wakes up and run away:

Run to the opposite side of this cliff until the Golem loses aggro

Warp to Lenne’s Rise

Use Spiritspring to enter Lenne’s Rise through a window. Face east/northeast before jumping, land on roof, drop down on balcony southwest.

Stairs up, lift up, stairs to the top:

Warp to Dragonbarrow West

East follow the path, past the map stele into a swamp with 2 Dragons. Ignore them and loot the 3 corpses on the way:

In the first room is a Runebear, my advice is to avoid it unless you really like a challenge, this beast can 2 shot you and has a lot of HP.

Crouch and let the bear wander away, hug right wall to find a tunnel and drop down the hole, drop down again to your left to a platform (don’t drop down all the way down): Canon of Haima the wolves at the bottom before jumping down.

East tunnel to another drop down, prepare for boss fight

Crouch in the bushes immediately after dropping down:

FP Flask

Wait for the white one to turn his back and sneak up on him for a backstab opener.

Keep your shield up, these enemies can 2-shot you as well. Let Engvall tank the Greatsword one while you focus on the Throwing Knives one.

Try to kill the Throwing Knives one as fast as possible using charged attacks / counters.

Then Moonveil L2/R2s on the Greatsword one with the help of Engvall

Flamedrake Talisman +2

Exit, rest and level up

Spend all Runes

Wait for the Runebear to walk away from the first room then sneak to west alcove:

South, hug right wall and sneak southwest to the next alcove, hide in bushes and loot the plant:

Wait for Runebear to patrol back to first room to proceed

Move on to next room, hug right wall southeast all the way down next tunnel to a room with shallow water:

Warp back to Dragonbarrow West

Place two markers on the map, check video to see exactly where

Follow cliff edge southeast then south/soutwest to find a glowing statue

Lure the Dragon located south/southeast to break open the statue:

Loot and run to the next marker and enter the Sellia Evergaol to reset aggro on the Dragon

Prepare for boss: Battlemage Hugues

Go to the top of the tower but DON’T “Administer Draught”, if you do that Ranni will get very angry for betraying her and kill you.

Soon we’ll start leveling up our VIG and END anyway and we’ll make up for the lost HP and Armor

Go straight west and climb on the closest tree root you can reach. Once on the tree root face northeast and go up then double jump over to the next root east to grab a corpse at the edge of a root:

Your guide on Episode 72 suggests doing Flame, Cleanse me, but I dont think you ever list putting enough stats to be able to actually cast it. at least when running through this build I dont have the stats to do it unless I skipped a step somewhere. But I’ve always been following your stat priority.

Hello !
I discovered you on Youtube a few months back and I’m using your guide for ER (video and text) combined with mapgenie.io interactive map since 2 months silently and I wanted to thank you for making it this precise and complete ! It’s been really useful to me and my friend (we are using Seamless Coop) since we began and we will continue to use it until we totally complete the game with it.
Also I put this comment on the 4th page and not the 1st because I wanted to point you a little error : we are almost here and while I was watching the video and reading the 61st episode to preview our next game session, I remarked you put 0:23 for the achievement advancement instead of 5:23 when you take the item and mention it with the note in the video.
Good luck for the last bit of the game ! (you’ve just done Maliketh in episode 141 at the time of this comment)

@FlyBoyFryer You won’t miss on any achievement. We will use the Carian Regal Scepter in this build but we won’t even use Rennala’s Full Moon so it’s not a big deal.
However, you can duplicated a Remembrance even if you’ve already used it! So in any case, it’s all good 😉

Hey Jame,

Splight problem. I’ve just naded over Rennala’s rememberance… but hadn’t duplicated it. Maybe I should’ve thought twice before doing so, as I’ve since learned about how to duplicate by means of the mausoleums (which I’d crippled as you’d detailed, but hadn’t entered as you’d not said as much). Just to be clear, your script states:

“Also exchange Rennala’s Remembrance (which we duplicated) for:”

But, as fas as I’m aware there’d been no instruction to enter the mausoleum and/or do so.

What reward/achievement am I likely to miss out on now?
